Rented from U-Haul twice. Both times I rented a 26' truck. Both times I chose a location near me to pick up the truck from the web page which showed availability. Each time i later received a call to confirm my pick-up at a different location and was told the truck was not available near my home. The first time I towed my Hyundai SUV and the truck I was given was an older GMC with poor headlights. I had to drive it through the mountains at night. Although it towed ok it was scary to drive at night . Second time I rented I spoke to the dealer that called to tell me the new pickup location and told him I did not want another old GMC. He said no problem. When I arrived 45 minutes from home to pick it up he tried to give me another old GMC. There was an almost new Ford next to it in the lot but I was told it was already spoken for. I reminded him of our earlier conversation and he remembered talking to me but said he does not decide who gets what vehicle. At that point I got in my car and called the U-Haul 800 number. After waiting on hold a long time I talking to someone who said they were not the dispatcher for my area and tried to connect me to someone else. After waiting on hold again I got the person who tried to transfer me again. She said if the other person does not pick up it goes back to her. Back on hold I finally got through and explained my situation and was told they would give me the newer truck. I did then pick up the Ford truck and it was very good. I would not have rented from U-Haul as there were other firms with lower prices and possibly better service but I moved to a very small town and U-Haul was the only one that had a drop off location in the area.

The cleanliness and equipment were fine but, i had an issue with being able to get the truck back by expected delivery date/time due to the closing not taking place on my home. With that, i called and explained my situation and the fellow on phone asked when i would need the truck until. I explained until 6 pm next day. His response was okay not a problem we will waive the day and thanked me for my business. This to me would have been two days of charges and they waive one...not the case, he ever explained that because i was t dropping off at 4 pm or sooner that it’s actually going to charge me for three and they’ll waive the third. On top of the already shitty day i had, i tried to dispute in person and the female wasn’t to pleasant so i said I’d call customer service to dispute. Called three times and haven’t heard from anyone! Although my initial experience was okay my end result wasn’t good. The lack of response left a bad taste in my mouth so The chance of me using your service again is unlikely.

Less to do with this particular location, but I implore you to please please please fix your website to indicate CLEARLY whether a moving truck is in town or one way. The website is completely unclear on that and due to that unclarity, my card was charged an additional 45 dollars for a truck we did not actually use.

The truck was really beat up when we first picked it up, there weren’t enough stickers on the truck to mark the damage. Rafael was awesome we walked around and used almost all his stickers to mark it. We then had an emergency in the middle of moving, we were not able to bring the truck back right away and everyone we dealt with to extend our rental was amazing!

First no where to park in small lot, second, truck not there when promised. Was upgraded, which didn’t help me at all, but more important, as a result of the truck not being there as contracted, I was not able to return the truck with my husband. He forgot to get gas, so for the 1/8 of a tank and 36 miles we were penalized $57.00. A little rich,don’t you think?

I had made a reservation with one of the locations that only required a mobile check in. Upon arrival to the site, the lock box with the key for the vehicle was incorrectly set up, so the multiple codes which were given to me did not work. As a result I was sent to another location which added an additional hour onto the commute I had to make with the vehicle. As a result, the cost of the rental was much higher than it should have been because of the extra distance I had to travel out of my way to get to the other location the customer service for U-Haul sent me to. I was told I would be discounted for the hassle, but none was given. Poor follow up with what was supposed to be cleared up with the area representative. I would not recommend using this service to anyone because of a failure of at the very least giving some sort of discount based on the additional distance I had to drive and pay for, and the failure of the lock box at the initial site.

The general manager, Jessica, was absolutely fantastic! We were in a desperate timing crunch to get the van and she went OUT OF HER WAY to expedite paperwork and have the vehicle ready. She was really amazing - and we are SO grateful!
