Unit had a loose windshield seal that flapped the whole time. According to Steve (site operator) this unit had just been brought in from another area and he had not had a chance to drive it himself and not one had complained about the noise.

The apparent disconnect between your online registration system and the checkout process at this site needs to be re-engineered to be more customer-friendly and informative. I arrived without a reservation and spoke to the employee present. I asked her what the process was for renting a trailer and she asked if i had a reservation (her attitude seemed to be that I needed one). Since I did not, nor did I see anywhere that a reservation was required, I was surprised by this news. However, I let her know i would return to my vehicle and immediately make a online reservation. It was about 10:33am, so i made the reservation for 10:45am, the same morning. I then paid for the rental online and was sent a final message. The message said, 'Congratulations, you have now cut down your time in half at the counter.' I returned to the employee and informed her that I had completed an online reservation. I took my tablet into the garage and showed her and gave her my reservation number. She said there was a new process in which i had to take pictures of my vehicle and upload them. I asked her, was she referring to 'validation' which is the online process in which i submitted my truck's specifications (which passed, being a newer 4x4 truck for a 5x9 trailer). I then asked her what was next, if i passed validation. She replied, 'i guess that's it.' I replied, 'so I hook up the trailer and that's it?' She replied something to the effect of 'I guess so.' I asked several times, but the response was the same (I was on the right track). We hooked up the trailer, did a brake light/hazards check and began to exit. She flagged us down and came over, citing that she had to check the brake lights and make sure they worked. I notified her that we had already performed that check, since driving without working lights would have been both illegal and dangerous. She said goodbye and we exited. Later that day, I receive a somewhat impatient VM from her husband, the manager (and owner?) chastising me for just driving up and hooking up a trailer, then driving off. I corrected him with my recollection of the event which he disputed based on the information from the employee (whom he revealed was his wife). He did, however, cite that he completed the necessary paperwork for me (as if he had done me a huge favor) and so..'I was covered there.' He cited that the corporate office wanted to speak with me about another matter. I agreed to contact them and then we ended our call. From my perspective, despite his protestations about being overworked since he was there two hours past closing (which he complained about), I'm left wondering why the notion that I somehow acted inappropriately was his go-to evaluation. I AM THE CUSTOMER, who was simply trying to follow his employee's inadequate instructions and rent a trailer. Sir, sometimes people are not trying to steal from you or hurt your business. We are just trying to get through our day, without breaking any r

Steve is an excellent U-Haul employee. He's quick to answer the phone and sounds like he is earnestly eager to provide good customer service. Apparently, he has been working for U-Haul for 47 years! Old school in a good way. I hope he gets a personal phone call of thanks from the CEO when he finally retires.
