The dolly I requested was not available and I was not informed of this before picking up the equipment so I couldn’t plan ahead to a borrow one so I ended up having to buy one. To improve for the future, please inform customers if the equipment they requested is not available. I was contacted about transporting a trailer from my pickup to my dropoff location (basically as a favor to uhaul). The compensation offered was $50, which would have been just enough to cover the additional fuel I still would have had to pay for, but I agreed anyway to try to help out. The size of the trailer changed between when I agreed and when I arrived for pickup. Then there was confusion about the compensation I would receive and when I would receive it as well as if I would have to pay for extra coverage to transport the trailer itself. All of this confusion (on uhaul’s part, the text confirmations I received were shown to the person at pickup) made the favor more trouble than it was worth for me and ended up making the pickup process last about an hour. Due to this, I decided to not take the trailer which seemed to make the checkout person annoyed. In the future, it would help to make sure everything is planned, ready, and clear before the customer arrives. If there were other local alternatives I might recommend people look elsewhere based on this experience alone. But since this is literally the only comparable business within an hours drive options are pretty limited.
