I rent the truck for $29 plus $1 a mile. I put just under 12 miles on the truck, then get charged $61. I call the company to find out what the discrepancy in price is and I'm told that there was tax (understandable), then an environmental charge and a "truck recovery fee". Then over $10 to fuel it up. The gas needle was just below 3/4 of a tank and I returned it showing the same. The person I spoke with at Southern Utah Auto Tech tells me that the truck required over 2 gallons of gas and stated "it's just $10 so it's not that big of a deal." So he's saying the truck went through over 2 gallons of gas in under 12 miles. I do not believe that. I don't know who is responsible for the "environmental fee so I can't blame the shop or Uhaul for that. However, the truck recovery fee? For a truck that I returned myself, just a few hours after taking it, to the exact same spot I took it from is ridiculous. And the $10 charge for gas for 12 miles usage is ridiculous. If this is what I can expect from these shops that rent Uhaul trucks, I will look for a better alternative when moving.

They wanted me to back the trailer in which I did and it was a very narrow street with lots of cars on it so I found a kind of hard to wait for traffic as I had enough time to back up. To me they should’ve just unhooked it and hand carried it to where they wanted it, but they opted to have me back in. I just felt it was a bit dangerous but turned out well.
Daniel SFantastic fellas, thank you.
RULON AThey didn’t catch that my 2” drop hitch was too low for the profile of my Telluride. My neighbor had to help me flip the hitch over into a 2” lift. It is impossible to do this without them right tools.
Darrin AThe manager was great. He backed the 26' truck and trailer into a tight space when I needed to return the 12' box trailer. He was very patient and helped us close out the long distance move from Wisconsin to Utah. Thanks again!
