It is with my best intent that I write to you regarding an issue with a reservation. I am very upset at what happened. My sister has brain lymphoma has been fighting it since March 2015. Due to the chemotherapy and radiation she now is unable to live on her own. She needs to move in with me. I graciously sold my house and bought a bigger one with the intent of moving her in with me so I could care for her. I am an over planner. I plan well in advance so there are no surprises and things go smoothly. With that said, I made a reservation for a 26 foot truck on June 8, 2016 to be picked up in Lake Geneva, WI. You can imagine my horror when I got a call from the regional office telling me that that do not have a 26 foot truck and I will have to drive 30 miles out of the way to retrieve it. The reservation was made almost 2 months in advance. It was not a short time turn around.
I can not even begin to tell you how upsetting this is to me and my family. We are not young people. We have made arrangements to get help to move her. Now will she have to leave some of her worldly possessions behind? Because they will not make it into the truck?. We shall see. The regional office did offer me a trailer to pull behind it. Unfortunately we do not have anyone that has the knowledge to maneuver a trailer.
Had someone called me and advised me of the situation I could have made alternative arrangements. Unfortunately the U-Haul Company blindsided me with this last minute change that could affect what she can and can not take with her.
With making a reservation almost 2 months in advance I expected to receive what I ordered. I even paid for it in advance. I did everything on my end to make my sisters move as painless as possible. It is unfortunate that U-haul has turned a bad situation to an even worse one. Instead of being part of the solution, you are now part of the problem.
