I had reserved a 15' truck and 2 types of dollies: furniture & appliance, a week in advance. On the day that I went to pick up the truck and equipment, I was informed that a furniture dolly was not available. I was told that if I wanted to use another U-haul center I could drive there instead. However, my reservation had shown that the dollies were reserved. I was disappointed to learn that I could not have the equipment that I had specifically reserved. It turned out that my scheduled move was made more difficult without the right dolly for the particular furniture items to be moved. Had I have gone to another U-haul center the mileage would have been more costly along with the gas. So, I opted to work harder with the equipment supplied. If the reservation was not to be honored the customer should have been given notice and not made to feel inconvenienced on the date reserved. When I asked the clerk assisting me if he could possibly provide me a discounted rate, I was informed my only workaround would be to go to another center to find the equipment that I had requested from the center that I had chosen. The move was made more difficult, but I got through it. However, my experience could have been made better by supplying me with the equipment that I had requested or to provide a discount since it was not my fault that the requested equipment was never made available by the center I had made a reservation at.

Made reservation online... truck ordered was available online but not at location. Was sent to new location 20 min before pickup. Had to call customer service to order a smaller truck. Smaller truck more trips.. instead of 3 days I had the small truck for 5 days. The returning of the truck was a nightmare. It was after hours. I was never told I needed to activate a U-Haul account. Then when I did do it it would not let me press continue....... so I had to call and close my account out. Thank god that process was painless.

The only concern I had was when dropping off the truck after hours, I just put the key in your night box, but couldn't contact you via your computer site since I don't have a smart phone. So confirmation was not made until your office sent me an e-mail later the next day. Other than that, the experience was a good one. Your office staff is very pleasant and nice to work with. Gilbert

Josh at this location is great!! The biggest issue I have with U Haul is the “sling shot” approach taken with customers. I’ve rented a U haul 4-5 times this year already, and literally every single time when I’m told “I’m sorry, we don’t have that size truck, can I help you find another location that might?”, the other location says that no one called, and waste my time for driving over there. Luckily this past time I called my self to verify first, if the other location did in fact have my truck I needed, and sure enough they did not, it had a flat and the Rep never communicated that to the rep I was dealing with at Josh Listen, this business is ALL about communication and the dealers don’t have an understanding of this. Please, please, please train your staffing and dealers to learn to better server their customers by simply communicating with each other more effectively. Also over booking is a HUGE issue, that I experienced before. Also, good idea to sell water since people are moving and will be thirsty.

The department or customer service that handles changing your pick up and drop off locations. Those people are unprofessional, rude, lazy don't want to work so they hang up or transfer you to a voicemail. Uhaul needs to spend money on retraining these guys. Good thing the Marion Oaks store in Ocala has excellent service and the Nob Hill in Fort Lauderdale did too. If not for these locations I would never come back.
