Charlene C | Overall ExperienceI would give this place 0 stars if I could. My experience with U-Haul Storage of Sunrise was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. The staff were unfriendly, unhelpful, and showed zero concern for what happened to my belongings. I paid $190 a month to store my things here, trusting their promises of a safe, “dry” storage unit—despite the giant “DRY” slogan right on the front doors. Instead, I opened my unit to find standing water, mold covering my belongings, and rat droppings ALL over my things. Nearly everything I stored was ruined. What made it even worse is that I had already moved to Tampa, so I drove FOUR HOURS back to Sunrise specifically to pick up my belongings—only to arrive and discover everything destroyed. After making that trip and seeing the condition of my things, they seriously expected me to just leave everything there and come back later to meet with an adjuster… an adjuster who, as I later found out, was never even coming because U-Haul never submitted the claim in the first place. To make matters worse, Johnny the manager was completely useless during the almost YEAR it took to finally close out my account. I was repeatedly told to “just wait” for the insurance adjuster to contact me. After waiting THREE MONTHS with no updates, I finally called the insurance company myself—only to find out U-Haul had never even submitted the claim they told me was being handled. On top of that, after I had already moved out, they somehow left my unit open in their system for EIGHT MONTHS and kept calling me demanding rent payments for a unit I had already vacated. And while all of this was happening, I was the one stuck cleaning out and hauling away mold-covered, rat-infested belongings with no help, no accountability, no apology, and absolutely no sympathy from management or staff. This place was a disaster in every possible way. If you care about your belongings, DO NOT STORE YOUR THINGS HERE. Stay far away.
