The truck rear door had a missing roller and another roller that was broken and dragging in the track. The door, when it was raised did not have a stop and overran it's max opening stop resulting in the cables tangling and jamming the door beyond the normal full open position. It took over an hour to get the door unjammed and thereafter had to tie a rope from the grab handle to the door handle to keep it from going up and jamming again which limited the opening for loading and unloading. The door was also showed damage. The roller issues and door damage issue had obviously been there for probably weeks or months. In addition the steering box is apparently very worn because steering corrections were needed continuously to keep the vehicle in the lane. Very tiring to drive even for our 32 mile rental. Out of the 10+ rental trucks (U-Haul and Penske) in 20ft to 26ft size, this particular one was the first I've had major issues with. When I turned it in I informed the U-Haul people about the issues. They inspected the truck and verified the issues and took it out of service. They said they were going to check with the manager to see about getting me some compensation. I know things like this can happen and next time I rent, I'll inspect thoroughly before leaving but it was 100 degrees and didn't check full door opening. I still have not heard from U-Haul about compensation for the issues on the rental. The store, facilities, and employees at the site I rented at were outstanding.

I was not happy I had to go to this location rather than the one I originally choose. A little confused why reserve if when I get ready to go, there’s no truck available.
