The store attendant had me pull around to the back of the building and when I exited my vehicle I slipped on the ice which possibly fractured my hand. The attendant helped me off the ground but did not offer to write an incident report. I am very disappointed that I was not able to pickup the trailer in front of the building where the parking lot was clear.

The gas gage was well under a half tank, then when we returned it the mileage didnt match what was on paper when we left. Lady at counter was extremely rude. Never had a problem until today with this location.

Very poor customer service. When I picked up my truck the lady at desk said to another employee can you go out and check to make sure it starts, because it does not always start. It started that time. I picked truck up on Friday night. Sat am, it did not start. I was a half a clock from the Uhaul location I got it from, I went there for help. Ryan the manager could not help, said not one was there with him (when I clearly saw an employee there - one that was behind the desk an hour later when I came in). He said for help I had to call the 1-800 #. I did so, they did not at first know how long it would be for them to get there to attempt to start truck. I asked Ryan if I could get another truck free since the one I paid for is not working, he said no. did not really try to help AT ALL. DID not seem to care AT ALL. Since I am a single mom of three and I had only a few people to help me move I could not waste time and I had to pay for another truck to load while we were waiting for the (already loaded) first truck to get fixed. The guy that came to fix truck said it was not battery problem but starter so I could not turn off the truck until I returned it. When I was done with it, I went to return it. Had a 40 min wait in line, while I was in line the two people behind the desk told the customer they were waiting on that "our manager screwed up"(the lady worker said) then the skinny guy worker said "Ryan ryan thank a lot!" Talking about his manager where all could hear. I was next up and the man behind desk (skinny white dude who obviously did not want to be at work from the way he was talking to the other person working the counter) looked at the line behind me and asked who just had a purchase. A lady who had just walked in he told to step up and he helped her. I said wow, he said I will get you next. BUT INSTEAD of helping me after he helped her, he put his coat and sunglasses on and just left. While I was still waiting. The lady behind desk then helped me, she was nice, however could not help me as far as me paying for two vehicles and for the gas and insurance on both. The staff were very unprofessional in many ways and the truck awful delayed us and no way to make it up to us. Very sad as i have used this location in past and had no problems but these workers were NOT doing a good job to say the least. Alpine Ave location in Grand Rapids

I have an issue that it costs more to do a one way trip vs bringing the dolly back to the same location. I understand that a dolly doesn't accumulate miles. I just find it ridiculous that I had to pay $30 more to drop it off at a location closer to where I had to drop off the vehicle. I am not impressed.

We did not have our attention drawn to the damage specified on the contract that pre-dated our pick-up, even though it stated that we authorized it and were aware of the possibility of water damage. It would have been nice for the worker to tell us about this rather than just write it on the form for us to discover after the fact.

I know I didn't reserve a 17' truck, but when I got there, there was a 17' available, but the lady didn't want to check it in. The guy next to her said he would, but she said no. She has very poor customer service skills.

The customer should always be right. I work for a very well known company and as a sales rep in this company, I believe we always should treat our customers the way we would want to be treated. Normally I don't write reviews but this bothered me so much I had to. When we arrived to get our truck, my husband was given the keys and not shown which truck it was. It was almost like finding a needle in a hay stack PLUS it was a blizzard out. Finally someone came out back and led us to the truck. We were getting ready to take our truck back and backed out of our apartment driveway to find that the truck would not move. It was stuck in wet snow, but nothing so bad to where it should get stuck. Tons of cars were driving through perfectly fine, small cars at that. I'm wondering if our truck had bad tires. We sat in our other car with our 2 small children as we waited for a long time to hear from road side assistance. I was told because it got stuck it was our fault so we had to pay for towing. When a truck is stuck in very little snow but all other cars are not, it should NOT be the customers fault. A very sweet woman named Jeanette from road side in Arizona got us connected with the local towing service and told us our fee would be waived for towing and they would extend our contact seeing as it was the middle of the night at this point. Jeanette was so sweet and made our very terrible night so much better. The next morning we arrived and were told the towing fee would not be waived. At this point I had decided we would never do business with u haul again. However, Ryan the general manager was kind and took action by helping us follow a complaint to road side assistance. I hope and pray our towing fee is waived so we can at least have somewhat of a good feeling about u haul. At this point I probably wouldn't recommend u haul. However, if this situation is made right, I might. This was our first time using u haul and could be our last. Let's hope this is taken care of so maybe we can visit again.

They couldn't "find" the truck I had rented after drop off, and when I called to check on it they said they couldn't find it but would give me a call when they did. I never received a phone call only an invoice. The vehicle I used sounded like a moped engine and was extremely loud.

There was only one person working the evening we picked up the trailer. The wait time was excruciatingly long and unacceptable. That is the only reason I am rating "poor". The person who was working was excellent, but she needed help.

I was not greeted with a hello or any acknowledgement upon entering the facility eventhough a woman was sitting in the first desk reception area. This was my first time using this facility and I was unclear as to the normal procedure there. When I was finally serviced by the owner operator everything went as expected, equipment was in good condition, price was as advertised, and very reasonable. Drop off was fast and efficient. To recommend this to another business associate would be a risk based on the greeting only.

There were not only issues with this experience, but also with a previous rental at the same location. When picking up the truck yesterday, 11/25/2016, I was asked by the owner when I'd be returning the truck, he insisted that I have it back by 7pm since that's when they close. When I asked if I were to bring it back at 9pm (which was my requested time frame when booking the reservation online) if I'd be charged for another days rental, he said yes. When dropping the truck off, I expressed my displeasure of how it was handled, the lady working said it wasn't her fault because she wasn't the one who rented it and went on to say that the store is trying to pull away from 24 hour rentals and insuring people have them back by close. That is not only poor business and customer service, but also a disservice to customers who are paying for a full day (24hr rental) and only being able to use it for 10 hours. Not only will I never use U-haul in the future, I will also deter others from doing it as well. Especially the Alpine location. Both trucks had engine issues and when I said something about it both times I received the same answer, "that's weird, it just came out of the shop." Well apparently it needs to go back into the shop, or you may even want to find a new mechanic. I'm very, very displeased with this experience, as well as past experiences.
