The Manager was only 19 years old and the only one in the office and yard. I requested several items over their website and at arrival they had none. We had to drive to the next U-Haul for blankets and dolly in which I was charged for the mileage, this was not fare..

I phoned into this location when i was making my reservation, online, as I wanted a little personalized service. I asked specifically for the same van to be reserved for me that I used last time. I did this because the last rental we took was perfect for our needs. It was clean, newer, well-maintained, and i felt safe driving it. When i arrived at the pickup location, imagine my surprise that I didn't see the van on the lot. When I spoke with the child running the counter, Garrett (seemed young for working all alone at this office), he stated that they only can secure the "type" of vehicle, not the "actual" vehicle. I explained to him that was WHY i called while making the reservation. He should have told me that when i called. Then, when he gave us our cargo van, it was completely FILTHY DIRTY! I told him this was unacceptable and he said "I'll go ahead and hose it off for you before you go". I told him not to bother, because the app wasn't functioning properly so this check-out process already had taken longer than necessary and I was running late, at this point. In addition to the very dirty vehicle, this van was older, not nearly as new inside, difficult to drive bc the steering wheel wasn't adjustable at all, much louder road noise while driving, as well. So, we used the wiper fluid to clean the windshield and left. On the way, we had to roll down the windows to wipe the grime from the side-view mirrors, as they were not useful covered in dirt, either :( Once in the vehicle, I called Corporate U-Haul and made a complaint, because the INSIDE OF THE TRUCK WAS JUST AS DIRTY AS THE OUTSIDE !!! I cannot believe a company would send a vehicle out looking like this! This van wasn't just not cleaned by the last patrons, it looked like it hadn't been wiped out or dusted in its lifetime! I took several photos and even a video of me running my finger through the grime built up on the dash. Gross! Happy to forward those to anyone interested. I will not use this U-Haul location again, and I am researching other rental agencies at this time, in an attempt to get at least clean equipment to work with, next time. This is an ongoing, recurring rental for our company, and I was really hoping to use U-Haul as my partner, but if your satellites don't have better policies, and better customer service than what I experienced yesterday, I will have to find a company that does. p.s. i tried to put a note in the system when dropping the vehicle off after hours, yesterday. The only way to tell you that the van was dirty and needed cleaned was by check-mark, and that added $25. to MY bill. Since I wasn't the one that caused it, i changed it in the app and dropped the vehicle without the note about cleanliness.

I have nothing bad to say about this specific location. They are always helpful and courteous. With that said I am very unhappy with U-Haul. I made my reservation a month in advance for a 5 x 8 enclosed trailer and made several calls to check the status of the requested swing out doors instead of the roll up door. This size was specifically needed. Neither a smaller or larger trailer was wanted. When I went to pick it up at 8 AM I was told that there was not a trailer of that size available and was offered a 6 x 12 enclosed trailer for the same price. So I don't really understand why they even take reservations if they do not make sure they can fulfill it. Garrett did a great job trying to locate one at another location and actually found one a few towns over but it was already reserved for today, but it was scheduled to be returned today at 3 PM. So I delayed my move 7 hours. At 3PM I get a call from the other rental place stating that the people who rented the 5 x 8 were on their way back with the trailer and to come and pick it up. I happily jumped in the car and headed that way. 5 minutes before I got there I get another call from someone else at that location stating that the people with the 5 x 8 decided to keep it a few more days! It's a good thing I called Garrett at my original location and asked him to hold onto the 6 x 12 just in case the 5 x 8 fell through again. He did so I headed back to get it. I called on the way over but got the call center and explained the situation to some guy who told me that I should not have had two reservations. I re-explained how they messed up twice and was scolded again for having two reservations. Oh, and my requested rental time was for 10 days! And they gave it to a 1 day rental! I tried to find another rental company I was so upset but ended up taking their 6 x 12. It was way too big for what we needed. It wasted much more gas towing it. And it was much more difficult to handle on mountain roads. Ultimately a very upsetting experience. I don't know what I'll do next time. Maybe buy my own!

At the rental, we checked the brakelights and and turn signals and they were good (auto transport). But, we did not check the tail lights as far as I can remember. When it became dark, I stopped to check the trailer, use the restroom etc. I discovered that I had NO tail lights. I was forced to stay the night in Santa Maria. Incurring an extra cost I did not budget for. I reached my destination, Exeter, the following day to discover I had no brakelight or turn signal on the passenger side of the auto transport. I came in a few days before and reserved a truck for 10 am on sunday. Had some problems and called sunday about 9:30 to tell them I would not be there until about 11:30 and he said no problem. When I got there and he brought it up on computer he said it had been canceled at 10 am but he had a truck for me. Lucky me.He said she reserved it for 8am and it was canceled at 10 am.You have my phone number why not call? Why did this girl reserve at 8am when I told her 10am? I had hired people to make this move and if you had not had a truck I would have been screwed. That girl needs to be more careful to details.

We have used this location two or three times now, and until this past experience with them, they were great! Camille Rosales was very rude to both my husband and brother in law when they showed up to return the Uhaul we rented. On top of it, after having made a phone call the morning we returned the truck to let them know we just needed an extra hour (was told that as long as it is returned by 1045 we would be fine), when returned at 1040, she charged us for an entire extra day. Thankfully Amanda Lowe took my call when I called to get clarification on the transaction, and was able to fix the invoice. However, she had to fully refund what had been "charged" / "held" and then re-submit the payment for the corrected amount, leaving us with an extra $174 that we now do not have access to until it is reversed by the bank. Not really a great situation when in the midst of a large move.
