Please inform the customer in advance that customer needs to have a padlock to protect his belongings while en route to destination (we happened to have one with us, but some people might not know they need to have one with them). Please inform the customer in advance that, when he returns a trailer to a drop-off site after hours (with no one there to help him), that it’s extremely difficult to lift the trailer off the pickup hitch alone, and to have some kind of jack (or something for leverage) to assist (or to arrive when the drop-off site is open so an employee can help).

The truck seemed to have a transmission problem. We drove cross-country from MN to NV so we had to go through the mountains. When I picked up the truck I made comment on how the transmission seemed strange - as if it didn't know when to shift gears. The UHaul employee simply stated "that's how these trucks run". We had lots of issues going through the mountains and about half through the trip the issues would randomly appear even on the flat areas. It would all of a sudden be running at 4000 RPM's and then would drop back to 3000. It was rarely below 3000. We only got about 6 miles to the gallon (average) -which was way worse than what I was told it would be. Any vehicle running at 4000 RPMs is using a lot more gas than if it was running properly. It felt as though it had NO power on any of the inclines. At one point we could only keep it at 30mph in order to not go over 4000 RPMs. Also it was so loud that one could not carry on a normal conversation while driving. It sounded as if we were surrounded by cracked open windows. Add that to the ROARING of the engine - it made for an exhausting trip - that cost more money than expected and was very taxing on our overall well-being due to the high noise levels.

From start to finish, everything about our process of moving with this branch of U-Haul was absolutely terrible. The customer service we received from Pat at this location was especially horrendous. This was the worst truck rental experience we have ever had. Below are the list of issues we encountered, starting from the beginning and progressively getting worse and worse. Just a note beforehand - we scheduled our move date three weeks in advance, and because it was an in-town move, we planned for an eight-hour day of using the truck. Because of the amount of really heavy things in our house, we reserved the time of about 20 of our friends and family who were kind enough to offer their help. We also had to be out of our previous place within a few days of this move. So, this was a big, scheduled thing for a lot of people, and it was essential that we move on that particular day. 1. Our initial request for a 20' truck was reduced to a 17' truck because of equipment. Not a huge deal. 2. Two days before our move, we were told they only had a 26' truck available. Our house has no parking lane and a difficult driveway, but we said we could make it work. Pat agreed that in return for taking the larger truck, we could pick it up a day early if we came in during their office hours instead of using the mobile app, and that we could return it a day late. We told him we planned to pick it up early, so to count on us to do that. However, he did assure us that if we chose not to pick it up a day early, he would place the appliance dolly and the utility dolly that we rented inside the truck, and we could pick it up using the mobile app on our originally scheduled day. 3. To pick it up a day early, we rushed home from an out-of-town engagement to arrive during business hours. We arrived 15 minutes prior to scheduled closing to find that they had closed early. We tried calling, and no one answered. 4. We arrived the next morning to pick it up using the mobile app...and we found that he had not put in the dollies as promised. There were several things in our house that we could not have moved without an appliance dolly, so this was a HUGE problem. We could see them through the window of the locked shop - he just hadn't put them in the truck. 5. I called the national U-Haul line. I was on hold for about 20 minutes before someone picked up. (She was the bright spot in this experience, in that she was incredibly helpful and equally outraged about the situation.) . She informed me that I could use the sealed dollies in the back of the truck that are supposed to be in there for situations like this. There were none. She was pretty shocked. The closest location she could find with dollies was 40 minutes away, which we agreed was not doable for a one-day move. Luckily, I called our local hardware store and found that they had one appliance dolly available for rent. 6. We moved, we took the truck back, and all appeared to g

If I would not have called they would have been closed when I planned to pickup truck, Not their fauld, U-Haul's when the informed me that I could not get a truck at requested location. Nothing on phone message about hours location was available.

The truck I rented had a broken convex mirror on the driver side that had been noted. I was able to view to the rear with it but was concerned that it might l continue to break apart since it had cracks all through it.
