I had a TERRIBLE experience with U-Haul U-Boxes. Everything was fine until my boxes were about 70 miles from their final destination. Then *multiple* people from U-Haul tried to charge half the cost of what I had already paid to deliver them the rest of the way (for reference, I paid about $3k to have 5 boxes moved from Virginia to Missouri...once the boxes arrived just outside of St. Louis, several U-Haul representatives tried to charge an additional amount ranging from $1200 to $3700 -- NOT an exaggeration -- to have the boxes delivered the last 68 miles. FINALLY, when I told the reps their own website gave me a quote that shows $300 to deliver the boxes, they said they *should* be able to match it. At that point, I was just done. I was frustrated because I had spent many, many hours on the phone trying to call U-Haul and talk to someone (I'd estimate 6-8 hours on the low end, 10-12 hours on the upper end). Altogether, I think I spoke with 6 or 7 different people, without making much headway (at one point, a representative even told me they DON'T deliver them to the city I was moving to despite me entering that city when I reserved the boxes). At the moment, I cannot in good conscience recommend using U-Boxes for a move.

The only good part was the unrelated moving help I hired, Professional Handyman. The drop-off, fine. Size of the pods, fine. The Uhaul assistance when their website and storage facility owner was horrendous. We're they friendly, sure but that didn't solve the 12 calls and over 15 hours I spent on hold and talking to resolve all the issues trying to schedule the delivery. The website is misleading, the price provided to deliver was a lie after I entered my address and paid $3000 for delivery and loading of 2 pods, they were going to charge $109 more until, I got the call from the uhaul rep. She tells me, oh no. We don't deliver to that city 1 hour away from the only option they allowed for storage. It will be another $1,350 if you want us to deliver. So I deside to use an alternate link while on the phone with the first lady, Pamela. She had already cancelled my order and made a new. So I decided to check out the moving help options. There were 2 options, one for $1,023 and one for $5,670. They pick up the pods, dand Unpack for you. So I book the moving help. Pamela applies my moving help after hustling me into needing it with the astronomical price for delivery. I get the order email and the website states its delivering to the storage unit and not my address. I call uhaul, they see the issue, tell me the site is just incorrect and the email is wrong. It also states another $230 is due for storage i had just had deducted from my account. They said, ou yeah, thats just an issue with the site as well. They assure me the order is there and the moving help is attached. Then a day later, low and behold, a second charge for the same month is pending. I call and hold again for the 6th time at this point. Next, I get a call from the storage place. Another Pam. But this one is deceiving and spiteful, so watch out folks. She reminds me, I was supposed to call her directly to book delivery, the movers I hired are all wrong to her order, they aren't going to be able to take 2 trailers at once. (She already knew this somehow but couldn't tell me the reason) Desperately seeking resolution, at her mercy, I as what I need to do. She says, well we can deliver it directly, but not through the Uhaul order online, they can do it for $500 but that's just dropping off the pods, and you'll need to unload them, she said "we'll just do a little shopping and you call us when your ready to have us pick them up". So annoyed and reluctantly, but again under duress because she has my pods, I say ok. So, I cancel my moving help, book with her. She then tells me.. Ohhh well we can't do it until 15 days from the date I needed it. So again.. say ok, but feel i have no choice. I get a call from the moving help next, we see you canceled and just wanted to make sure that wasn't an accident, they "know" the booking site has issues. So I let them know what Pam said at Ez storage in Washington MO. The Professional Handy man rep, Saige assured me, they were an authorized Uhaul delivery service and were authorized to use the double trailer, unlike Pam had said. She also tells me they are available the day I need it. So asked them to call Pam. They do, but she won't speak to them, and I get called back to say I need to call Pam. Jfter talking to Jessica on the Uhaul line, Found that my movers were legit and 2-trailer capable. I call Pam and let her know and she gave me lip but says ok. Another day and I get another odd email from uhaul. My order is scheduled and my next step is to pack my pod?? And the delivery is again back to the city the storage unit is in, not where I live. Movers assure me, they have my order and will be there on the 6th. So with relief I hang up from the 11th call. Day of move, after needing to postpone one day, the moving help was still able to accommodate. They call me when they get to the unit. Pam is denying them the double trailer saying they will need to make 2 trips. I call uhaul after being assured if there are issues to call day of. Uhaul was no help, they say, she is telling them, the truck they have is wrong, (lied about their truck) then, after I call uhaul back to tell them, that's not the truck, she tells them, she doesn't have the manpower to move the pods, they will need to come back another day, another lie as there were other people there. The Moving help was the ONLY saving grace. They told me to forget about it. They will do the 2 trips, no extra charge. Saige says she didn't want me to have to wait more for the stuff, it was only 2 extra hours. I am so grateful for the Professional Handyman!! They were the only positive part of the whole experience.
Cricket MFirst better delivery time my shipping was late had to wait 3 weeks almost one month when told it would be a few days also there should be a tracking number for our delivery to see were it is thank you
Joseph sThe final destination U-Haul location needs to provide clear instructions as to where to physically drop off empty U-Boxes when returning empty U-Boxes at the final destination city. The concept of U-Boxes is actually a very convenient concept.
