I replaced my traditional propane tanks with this fiberglass composite ccylinder for 2 reasons: (1) when empty, the fiberglass cylinder weighs half as much as the comparable metal tank and (2) a fiberglass composite cylinder will not explode causing metal shard projectiles like the comparable metal tank can, instead a fiberglass composite cylinder will melt should a substantial propane leak occur. A bonus is that the level of propane gas in a fiberglass composite cylinder is clearly visible.
What is the warranty on these tanks? How long does the composite material last? Because it is composite is there any concern about weather damage over time that degrades the tank material, causing integrity issues? Thanks
Hello Ed! Composite tanks have a 5-year life from their manufacturing date before they need to be recertified. From there it is usable for another five years. The manufacturing date is found on the tank itself. This material is more durable that steel as it won't rust nor calcify, and the outer casing does not heat up as much as a steel tank. Warranty questions must be address with the manufacturer at 1.866.470.3737. I hope that helps!
Who makes these tanks?
