Ready-To-Go Box Vs. Cardboard

Reduces Waste

No tape, no landfills, no waste. Ready-To-Go Boxes are designed to stay in service for years rather than just. a handful of moves, and never require packing tape.

100% Recyclable

Ready-To-Go Boxes are made with 100% recyclable materials. The longevity of these boxes means fewer resources are required for continuous production. This promotes sustainability and reduces environmental impact. After a Ready-To-Go Box reaches the end of its lifecycle, it's recycled properly and made into other items - even more plastic moving boxes!

Space Efficiency

Uniform, stackable boxes optimize space utilization within trucks. They fit together like puzzle pieces, minimizing gaps and maximizing the use of available volume. This efficiency allows for mere goods to be transported in a single trip, reducing the number of trucks needed for transportation. This translates to fewer miles traveled and less fuel consumed, ultimately decreasing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.

Water Resistance

Unlike cardboard, Ready-To-Go Boxes are water resistant. This feature prevents damage to items during transportation due to weather conditions, reducing potential waste caused by damaged goods

More Tips for Sustainable Moving

Using plastic moving boxes instead of cardboard is an excellent way to embrace sustainable moving, but why stop there? There are plenty of other things you can do for an eco-friendlier move.

  1. If you are using cardboard moving boxes, try to reuse existing boxes instead of buying new ones. Ask friends or family, or better yet, check your local U-Haul center's Take a Box, Leave a Box station for FREE boxes.
  2. Have clutter you don't want to take with you? Don't just throw it away! Host a yard sale or make a trip to your local donation center to find a new home for your items. This keeps things out of landfills and helps those in need in the process.
  3. Be sure to use eco-friendly packing supplies whenever possible. That includes biodegradable packing peanuts, packing paper, Enviro-Bubbler®, and other "green" packing supplies. U-Haul is a great resource for environmentally friendly packing supplies.

  1. Repurpose things you already have as packaging materials. Towels, t-shirts, and even socks can be used in place of bubble packaging. Use these repurposed materials to protect fragile items, like glassware, decorative items, and electronics.
  2. If you're discarding any broken electronics prior to moving, be sure to dispose of them properly. Many manufacturers or your local recycling center will take in outdated or non-functional electronic devices to ensure they're properly recycled.
  3. Rent a moving truck wisely! Be sure to choose the correct size to reduce unnecessary emissions. Also, choose a moving truck rental company that offers fuel efficient trucks. U-Haul only offers unleaded vehicles that are designed for better fuel economy.
