Support of Rover Technology
The Planetary Society works with students and educators to further planetary exploration by building and teleoperating rovers through the Red Rover, Red Rover project. Students at science centers build simulated Mars terrains and computer-operated, Lego® rovers. Students then use an Internet teleoperation program to "drive" other students' rovers - from as far as halfway around the world. At the unveiling of the U-HAUL® Planetary Society SuperGraphicSM image in June 1998, students had the opportunity to drive real rovers on a simulated Mars terrain installed outside the Planetary Society's headquarters.
