Honda Fit Hitch Installation Steps
1. Remove Exhaust
To begin the hitch installation process, we will need to prep the vehicle for the addition of the hitch. To start we will be lowering the exhaust to allow room for the hitch to be in its proper position. When removing the exhaust we will be applying a strap to support the exhaust before lowering it. Following this, we will be using a pry bar to detach the exhaust hangers holding the exhaust in place.
2. Install Provided Hardware
Our next step will be to install the provided hardware to the vehicle’s frame. Something important to note regarding our hardware is that the passenger side bolt is shorter than the bolt which will be installed on the driver's side. When installing our bolts, we will be using fish wire to properly insert our hardware into each corresponding access point. Don’t forget to insert the u-bolt through the tow hook in this step.
3. Raise Hitch into Position
With our bolts installed, we can now raise our hitch into its proper position. We will be sure to line up the attachment points on the hitch with the u-bolt and access holes containing our bolts.
4. Install Nuts and Washers
Now with our hitch in place, we can remove the fish wire and install our provided nuts onto each bolt. Following this, we will be placing two bolts onto the end of our u-bolt.
5. Tighten and Torque Hitch
With all of our nuts and washers installed, we will now tighten and torque all of our hardware according to the manufacturer's specifications. When tightening the u-bolt, be sure to torque each side equally to avoid cracking the bolt.
6. Re-Install Exhaust
Our final step is to re-install the exhaust which we previously lowered in Step 1. We will be re-attaching the exhaust hangers, then finally removing the supporting strap.
You should now have your trailer hitch installed on your Honda Fit.

The 4- way connector has basic lighting functions (running lights, brake lights, turn signal) while the 7-way connector adds a 12-volt circuit, circuit for electric trailer brakes, and reverse lights.
