2022-2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz Hitch Installation Steps

1. Lower Spare Tire

To start our hitch installation process we will need to drop the vehicle’s spare tire. Using our 12mm socket we will remove the spare tire carrier nut which is located on the passenger side of the vehicle.

2. Lower the Exhaust

After lowering the spare tire, we will now look to lower the exhaust as well. But before we do, we will be sure to install our exhaust strap to support it. Once our strap is in place, we will be using our exhaust pliers to remove each exhaust hanger.

3. Raise Hitch Into Position

With our spare tire and exhaust lowered, we can now raise the hitch into its proper position.

4. Install Hardware

After our hitch is in position, we can now install the provided hardware to secure it to the vehicle’s frame. We will be installing three bolts with a washer to the attachment points on each side of the vehicle.

5. Tighten and Torque Hitch

With the hitch in place, we can now tighten and torque it according to the manufacturer’s specifications to properly secure it to the vehicle’s frame. We will be using our 19mm socket and the angled socket for the bolts located on the inside of the frame.

6. Raise Exhaust and Spare Tire

Now that our hitch is installed, we will complete this process by re-installing the lowered exhaust and lowered spare tire from our previous steps.

You should now have your trailer hitch installed on your Hyundai Santa Cruz.
