U-Haul Land Acquisition Means Self-Storage, Jobs for Springfield
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (Dec. 6, 2018) — An impressive state-of-the-art moving and self-storage facility is coming to Springfield thanks to U-Haul® Company’s recent 11.16-acre land acquisition on the east side of the S. 6th St. Frontage Road, which runs alongside Interstate 55.
U-Haul Moving & Storage of Springfield South, scheduled for completion by summer 2020, will encompass three stories and more than 100,000 square feet of space. The facility will house more than 1,000 indoor, ADA accessible self-storage rooms with climate-control options and high-end security features.
The property is located just two miles from University of Illinois Springfield and will cater to the moving and storage needs of college students.
“I-55 is the major north-south highway in that connects to St. Louis and Chicago,” said Aaron Freeman, U-Haul Company of Illinois president. “Both I-55 and the new 11th Street Extension also connect downtown Springfield, making this U-Haul location convenient for do-it-yourself movers planning a long-distance move – or just relocating within Springfield.”
U-Haul Moving & Storage of Springfield South will offer truck and trailer sharing, towing equipment and professional hitch installation, moving supplies, U-Box® portable moving and storage containers; propane; U-Haul Remote 24/7® access; on-site RV, boat and vehicle storage; a U-Haul Re-Use Center for gently used household furnishings to be shared by the community; and the Take A Box, Leave A Box program.
While U-Haul Moving & Storage of Springfield South is under construction, nearby U-Haul facilities and neighborhood dealers are available to assist customers.
