U-Haul to Announce Top 10 Canadian Destination Cities on Twitter

PHOENIX, Ariz. (June 22, 2015) – Canada’s full range of splendor is on display during the summer months, and every city has the appearance of a destination location.

But is your city worthy of claiming it’s among the U-Haul Top 10 Canadian Destination Cities?

U-Haul International, Inc., the industry leader in do-it-yourself moving and self-storage, will release its Canadian migration trends data for the 2014 calendar year over the next 10 days.

Beginning today, U-Haul will announce via Twitter @uhaul one city each day until the No. 1 destination is unveiled July 1. Story links will direct readers to interactive reports on myuhaulstory.com where statistical data, infographics, city-specific moving tips and comments from community leaders and local U-Haul officials can be found.

“U-Haul is celebrating its 70th anniversary in the U.S., and for the last 60 years we have been proud to meet the needs of do-it-yourself movers throughout Canada,” said Ron Frank, executive vice president of U-Haul International, Inc.

“The release of our annual migration trends through Twitter and myuhaulstory.com was a great success with our U.S. destinations. We now have the privilege of showcasing these beautiful Canadian destinations in the same manner.”

The Top 10 Canadian Destination Cities reflect destinations for one-way U-Haul truck rentals for the previous calendar year. While this data doesn’t necessarily reflect a city’s growth, it is a strong indicator of how well a city is attracting new residents.

The migration report was compiled from more than 1.7 million one-way U-Haul truck transactions that occurred in 2014.

The release of U-Haul migration data coincides with summer moving season, which sees thousands of do-it-yourself movers change addresses and embark on adventures with the aid of U-Haul trucks, trailers, towing equipment and U-Box containers.

U-Haul is the authority on migration trends thanks to a network that blankets all 10 Canadian provinces and 50 American states. The geographical coverage from 17,000-plus neighborhood dealers and 1,540 U-Haul stores offers a comprehensive overview of where people are moving like no one else in the industry.
