From packing to cleaning, there are many checklist items that have to be done before picking up your moving truck from the rental company. To make the pick up process as seamless as possible, I have listed 5 tips for picking up your truck on moving day.
Have you confirmed your reservation?
Verify that your pick up time and location is correct prior to picking up. Companies like U-Haul, send email and phone verification’s 24 hours prior to pick up though it’s never a bad idea to check for yourself.
Is your billing information correct?
Make sure that your credit card information is accurate and up to date on your rental contract prior to pick up. This will help reduce hang-ups at the point of sale and during the billing process.
Who is going to be picking up the truck?
Make sure to notify the truck rental company of who will be picking up the truck prior to pick up. It’s a good idea to call the company prior to your pick up day to add the name to your reservation notes. This will save time in verifying who shows up at the pickup location. Also, make sure that the person picking up the truck brings a valid drivers license.
Where is your pick up location?
Find out where your pick up location is located and write down directions on how to get there. It is also a good idea to write down the store phone number in case you get lost on the way there.
Do you have a ride to the rental facility?
Have your ride to the pickup location squared away prior to moving day. Scrambling for a last minute ride to the rental facility is never fun. On the flip side, it’s never fun getting the unexpected call from your friend, family member or neighbor at 7 am Saturday morning asking you for a ride to the U-Haul Store.
These tips will help streamline the process of picking up your rental truck and get you in an out of the rental facility as fast a possible and on your way.
