You’re all set for your move- the moving truck and moving helpers have been reserved. Before you pack up your kitchen, there are a few items you can whip up for breakfast on the go! These two ideas will keep your bellies and your wallets full:
Pigs in Blanket
This old favorite is great for a quick and handy meal. It can be good hot or cold with just about any sauce you can find! Think jam, jelly, even the leftover Chinese sweet and sour– or the garlic butter from the pizza guy.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Any type of dough in the cans
- Cooked ham or sausage in the dough
Here’s what you’ll do:
Roll up pieces of the cooked meat into your dough. Bake them at 350 degrees until golden brown– quick, handy food that is good cold from the fridge with just about any sauce you can find!
Homemade Granola Bars
I also love this granola recipe that my Mom used to make! This recipe is a great way to keep you full first thing in the morning, but be careful because if you eat too many and then drink too much water the oatmeal will EXPAND in your stomach.
- ½ cup butter
- 3 cups old-fashioned rolled oats – or whatever quick-cook oat breakfast cereal you have-
- ¾ cup dried fruit or coconut flakes
- ½ cup honey/ molasses/ even a little leftover maple syrup
- ½ cup peanut butter/ almond butter/ cashew butter– you get the idea…
Here’s what you’ll do:
Mix together, spread in a casserole dish and bake at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes- until golden brown. When you remove from the oven, immediately sprinkle some chocolate chips or whatever chips you have around– butterscotch is my favorite– so that they melt. Spread around and refrigerate casserole. You could also spread some Nutella or chocolate spread instead of melting the chips. Once it has cooled– cut into squares and enjoy! Be careful: They are addicting!
