During moving day, you have a chance to burn hundreds of calories by moving furniture, running up the stairs and even packing boxes! Here are some easy and safe ways to make moving a workout:
Squats for Days
Whether you are bending down to place something on the floor or picking up a light box, try squatting it down. You can do a sumo squat with your feet pointed out in a wide stance, and drop your body all the way down to pick up the item you need. This is a good lower-body workout, with an emphasis on the inner thigh. Make sure not to hunch when doing squats!
Extra Weight
To give your body an extra challenge, use ankle weights while you are loading items into the moving truck.
Don’t forget the calves
People often neglect the calves! Make sure to give them some love by doing calf raises while you are waiting to load something in the moving truck. Try to do 20 in a row.
Count them up!
Want to know just how good of a workout you got? There are lots of ways to estimate the amount of calories you burned during your move. The easiest way will be to use a calorie calculator like this one. Just search for exercises like moving furniture or moving things up stairs. Then put in your personal information and the calculator will give you an estimated amount of calories burned.
Stay hydrated and make sure to do exercises while on your road trip as well!
