Have you spotted us yet on our #uhaulroadtrip?
With the help of the wonderful employees of U-Haul Moving and Storage of Coon Rapids and their repair shop we were able to do our safety inspection (we will have more for you later on safe trailering tips.) Al Anderson is the repair shop foreman. He worked at U-Haul in the 80’s and it was part of his job to inspect the U-Haul camper trailers and get them ready to go back out on the road again, so we were happy to have his guidance. We will have an interview with him for you later.
Where Did We Go?

From Coon Rapids, MN just outside of Minneapolis, we started our U-Haul Road Trip. We made our way to the northwest. The rain clouds liked us so much that they decided to follow us across the country, but at safe highway speeds we were able to outrun the rain eventually. We made one quick stop 20 minutes in to insure that everything was still securely attached and working properly on our trailer, then continued on to Alexandria, MN. Alexandria is home to the Kensington Runestone. This possibly old carved stone tells a story about Vikings visiting Minnesota long before Columbus landed in North America. It is also featured on the U-Haul Minnesota SuperGraphic which you may have seen on the side of a U-Haul truck. Is it real? Is it a hoax? Learn more about it here and decide for yourself.
After Alexandria we made our way into North Dakota. We drove through Fargo, not without making a few jokes about the popular movie and TV show. In North Dakota, with the sun peaking through the clouds we were greeted by a beautiful rainbow followed by a wonderful sunset. We had to stop just before Grand Forks for our first gas stop of the trip before making it into Grand Forks as the sun went down. Although it was dark in Grand Forks, we were both impressed by the University of North Dakota and the beautiful homes in the surrounding historic district.
Where Will We Go Next?
From Grand Forks, ND our plan is to stop in Rugby, Minot and Bismarck before making our way south and out of the state into South Dakota. If you see us along the way be sure to grab a picture with us and share it on by following @gouhaul and using #uhaulroadtrip. On Twitter follow @uhaul. 10 people who share photos of us or the U-Haul camper will be selected to win a #uhaulroadtrip shirt.
You can follow along on the rest of our trip here.
