Place was a bit confusing and not in-sync with the instructions on the app, was just a gas station with some other U-Hauls, guy who took my keys seemed confused to see me there but also knew my name so clearly I was in the right place; was contacted about the location switch less than 3 hours before while I was in the middle of my move, which was not ideal and added miles and time to my rental, not on a recommend to a friend level but was fine

SHANNON NThis location in Harlem has many downsides. Outside the gas station was a begger who asked me for money. When we went out the get the van, a homeless person was sleeping in it and it smelled like urine. Also, the side door was broken. The second van was in working condition but had not been cleaned on the interior forever. The employee Tony was great, and together we cleaned the van. Apparently, they cannot control the community trespassing onto the property. I did not feel safe at this location.

ROSE Athe truck was clean and returning was easy. Getting the truck was difficult due to it being parked in the back. The Shell employee had to move 6 u haul trucks to get mine out, which took 45 minutes. I did not get into my u haul van until 9:45, even though I had an appointment for 9 am. Other than that everything went smoothly and I was able to finish before the 4 hours were up.
Carolyn FYour sales representative was rude, arrogant and refused to answer simple questions "what is the email address of reservation. Plus he didn't give the rate quoted for the reservation.

david mbtw... on the backdoor of the uhual we had, it was painted to look like the door was partially open... unfortunately, this led to a person on a very busy curvy part of Interstate 80 in PA frantically telling us to pull over during pouring rain... she literally thought our backdoor was ajar and coming open... we dismissed her at first and then she proceeded to pull in front of us... turn on her emergency flashers and make us pull over... dangerously she then backed up behind us and kept telling us our door was open... when I knocked on the closed door by the painted opening she was just extremely confused... she caused the traffic to go into one lane... strongly suggest changing those types of advertising...
mike cThe employee would not accept the truck. He waved me away and said I had to find another location. It was after hours and I was tired from moving however I searched and the nearest locations were closed. I called Uhaul and spoke to Issac who transferred me to 24 hours assistance where I was out on hold for nearly 15 minutes before the call was dropped. I went back into the service center and the employee Bobby ( not sure if that is how his name is spelled) insisted again I leave. He said he did not have room for the truck. Then he changed his mind and said he will take the key and park the truck on the street and if he gets a ticket I will have to pay for it. I got angry and said u will not be treated in this manner and that I will call the regional office. He then said he will have his employee move the trucks and vans to make room for the truck I returned. It was a stressful way to end an already hectic day. I will not recommend this location to anyone.

Malik MProperly check in vehicles when they are dropped off. I was incorrectly billed for an after hours drop off on July 6th for a vehicle I had dropped off during normal business hours on July 3rd. After several phone calls I was able to get this resolved but it was an unnecessary inconvenience.
Ernest DWhen I went to the pickup location to get the Uhaul, the person in charge told me that they could not give me the truck I reserved and that they would have to give me another truck, one that is smaller. When I told them that the one I initially requested was reserved for about a month and inquired why no one told me it would not be available, he said to contact Uhaul and that there was nothing he could do. While on the phone with Uhaul, he told me he could get me the truck after all. Overall, this experience was nerve-wracking. I felt like if I did not go with my brother, the person in charge would have given me a hard time for no reason. I would absolutely not go to this pick-up location and would not recommend it to anyone. In the end, the person in charge ended up apologizing, but by that time, he had already left a bad taste in my mouth.
Aghogho OThe service there was the worst I’ve ever had at any uhaul. I dealt with a guy named Tony who was absolutely horrible and a con artist to say the least. From the time in after going through my reservation and seeing how many days I rented and gave him my mileage proceeded to question me on what I needed the uhaul for and that because the rental was under $100 I would have to purchase insurance for $120 or make a reservation with more mileage if not he would cancel my reservation. After calling customer service and getting things straightened out upon returning the uhaul they did not end the reservation where customer service had to be called again where they contacted the regional manager to contact the store since they weren’t answering to tell them to confirm the vehicle was back. Will definitely not be going there again NEVER nor will anyone I know and can possibly tell about this experience.

Anderson LYour app was terrible. Didn't warn me about out-of-state license verification process before hand - took thirty minutes to get that figured out. The van assigned to me was buried behind four other vans. The customer service rep on the phone was great, but they shouldn't need to be so good at their job - this company let them down in a big way with a buggy app, bad design, and a less than exceptional level of service at the actual location. Not the experience advertised. Almost missed an important appointment because of this extreme delay.

GILBERT SWhen we got there, the supplies that we had reserved were not there. Although the representative was not rude, he was just apathetic to the problem that this could have caused especially since we needed a dolly for our move. Luckily we were able to use a different dolly that he had in the back and did not have to transfer our reservation to another location. The Uhaul website and individual locations should be working more collaboratively to ensure this does not happen in the future. If equipment is unavailable at a location, you should not be able to reserve it on the website.
Delvida FNEVER! I rented a u-haul from a third party contractor on 117th and 1st avenue in East Harlem. The u-haul attendant was rude, unprofessional, and knew very little english and this caused a language barrier. The attendant gave me a truck with a broken spot window. When i brought it to his attention he reported “I know the last person brought it in that way, and I inform them”. He ensured that I wouldn’t have any issues. I was charged for $108 for the mirror. Now i have to dispute the charges. When i returned to discuss my issue he proceeded to yell and blamed me.

Rosa GI reserved a U-Haul van for 11:00 AM on May 18th. When I arrived there was no one on site to assist me. I had to call customer service multiple times to help. It took 40 - 45 minutes before getting the U-Haul. When we did receive it, we were given the wrong one. I reserved a van and was given a truck. I paid more than what I was suppose to and it wasn’t my fault because I was giving the incorrect rental.

VALERIE JThere was nobody at the location at the designated time to check out the vehicles. So had to wait. The vehicle was good mechanically but dents and a broken window that I only noticed after checking out. The amount of gas in the tank was less than 3/4 of a tank and I was told it was 3/4 and it was difficult to return the vehicle with the exact level. (Vehicles should be full . Especially given this location is also a gas station.) I was charged a 20 fee for returning the vehicle after hours even though I returned it before 5pm and handed in the keys to the attendant/clerk at the location who is a U-Haul representative.
James GMy truck was completely blocked in by other trucks and I was simply given the keys and told to move the other truck in order to get mine out. Completely unacceptable.

davis cSidee mirror was literally duct taped on. Every time the car hit a bump it would fold back I. I had to hold my hand on it while driving in Manhattan and even worse on the FDR. Was an incredibly unsafe experience.
Mitch VWould only recommend if it were a convenient location for what you need, would not go out of my way to come here. It was average at best. But overall the experience was acceptable. The man that helped me was very nice and efficient.

They found when finally they called another U-Haul staff who help found our oder. I wouldn’t recommend this location to anyone. The staff gave my husband and I a hard time.

JAMES CLocation is cheating people. We turned the truck the same day in about 4 hours. When I asked for a receipt I was told that I will get it in an hour, but it did not come in until 2 days later and the returned date was today's and charges me for 2 days of rental instead of 1. And when I called back, they were giving me a run around. Had to resolve the dispute by calling customer service directly
