They were 30 min late to give us the keys and once we got the van it had cat hair all over. The blankets were all dirty and in a pile, we didn’t feel comfortable using them for our furniture

The pickup of the uhaul was very disorganised and the person who was supposed to be there to check in and get us the truck was over 10 minutes late. Then when I dropped off the truck it was in the evening but I was never told of an after hours service fee that I would be charged especially when it’s shown as a 24 hr service place.

The truck was missing the license plate in the front. Was unable to find the location at first, and when I found the gas station where the U-Haul was hold, the man was not expecting me to be there. Also was very close up against the U-Haul when I was entering. Made me and my family feel very uncomfortable.

The main person doing the reservations took a really long time (25 minutes for one person in front of me) to set up one person (they had checked in online already), so the manager of the Shell took me to his office and checked me in in 5 minutes. He was very professional and obviously knew what he was doing. Everyone was very respectful but the main guy doing the check in was very slow. I appreciate the manager stepping in and helping me right away!

Very disappointed I did it on over the phone and customer service was very polite and i told him not 117th street because old rude man gas station was very discrimination against woman drivers i was there with my husband and he said oh your the driver i said you might need two insurance so full coverage when accident happen and the only one available was this dorn location customer service said i want you to have a wonderful experience and then he said the time and hour you need the U- Haul is the same address i dread the old man is horrible, he remember me and told the young rude horrible i had to keep my composure cause I really needed the U-Haul young man ask give me two references and take care insurance I said I don't need your car insurance he why I said do your job and ask me one time he said don't be disrespectful for I don't service you go somewhere else.

The person in charge of the transaction was completely clueless about the process. His behavior was unprofessional and rude. I clearly stated that I did not want any extra services, such as service safe or insurance, yet he had the nerve to upcharge me without asking. He didn't even inquire about how many miles I would be driving; he just made that decision on his own. When I questioned the additional charges for miles, he told me that the minimum amount to rent a truck was $100. When I asked him where that policy was so I could read it, he closed his laptop and said it was inside the computer. I was then made to wait for 20 minutes after the transaction was complete, only to finally receive the keys. Upon inspecting the truck, I noticed that the gas tank was nearly empty—just a thin line before it was completely empty. However, he wrote on his paperwork that it had a quarter of a tank. I asked him to correct it, but he only updated my copy, not his, and said he would take care of it later. The inside of the truck was dirty, and the check engine light was on. Additionally, the employee's communication skills were poor, as he barely spoke English. Overall, it was a disappointing experience due to his unprofessional behavior. The manager or owner of the establishment seemed much nicer and more helpful, but unfortunately, he was leaving as it was closing time. There was a significant difference in service when I returned the truck; the other staff members were very helpful and respectful.

The place tried to run my card that was already on file through a cheap un identifiable card scanner connected to a random laptop. Initially they refused to use the card entered on the uhaul website or let me use the official gas station POS I had to threaten to rent from another facility and report it to get the guy to use my card that was already on file even if not an attempt of fraudulent activity , there needs to be a more secure pay system than a random laptop and plastic usb plug in card swiper -- thats how people get their bank accounts hacked.

Place was a bit confusing and not in-sync with the instructions on the app, was just a gas station with some other U-Hauls, guy who took my keys seemed confused to see me there but also knew my name so clearly I was in the right place; was contacted about the location switch less than 3 hours before while I was in the middle of my move, which was not ideal and added miles and time to my rental, not on a recommend to a friend level but was fine

This location in Harlem has many downsides. Outside the gas station was a begger who asked me for money. When we went out the get the van, a homeless person was sleeping in it and it smelled like urine. Also, the side door was broken. The second van was in working condition but had not been cleaned on the interior forever. The employee Tony was great, and together we cleaned the van. Apparently, they cannot control the community trespassing onto the property. I did not feel safe at this location.

the truck was clean and returning was easy. Getting the truck was difficult due to it being parked in the back. The Shell employee had to move 6 u haul trucks to get mine out, which took 45 minutes. I did not get into my u haul van until 9:45, even though I had an appointment for 9 am. Other than that everything went smoothly and I was able to finish before the 4 hours were up.

btw... on the backdoor of the uhual we had, it was painted to look like the door was partially open... unfortunately, this led to a person on a very busy curvy part of Interstate 80 in PA frantically telling us to pull over during pouring rain... she literally thought our backdoor was ajar and coming open... we dismissed her at first and then she proceeded to pull in front of us... turn on her emergency flashers and make us pull over... dangerously she then backed up behind us and kept telling us our door was open... when I knocked on the closed door by the painted opening she was just extremely confused... she caused the traffic to go into one lane... strongly suggest changing those types of advertising...

The employee would not accept the truck. He waved me away and said I had to find another location. It was after hours and I was tired from moving however I searched and the nearest locations were closed. I called Uhaul and spoke to Issac who transferred me to 24 hours assistance where I was out on hold for nearly 15 minutes before the call was dropped. I went back into the service center and the employee Bobby ( not sure if that is how his name is spelled) insisted again I leave. He said he did not have room for the truck. Then he changed his mind and said he will take the key and park the truck on the street and if he gets a ticket I will have to pay for it. I got angry and said u will not be treated in this manner and that I will call the regional office. He then said he will have his employee move the trucks and vans to make room for the truck I returned. It was a stressful way to end an already hectic day. I will not recommend this location to anyone.

Properly check in vehicles when they are dropped off. I was incorrectly billed for an after hours drop off on July 6th for a vehicle I had dropped off during normal business hours on July 3rd. After several phone calls I was able to get this resolved but it was an unnecessary inconvenience.

When I went to the pickup location to get the Uhaul, the person in charge told me that they could not give me the truck I reserved and that they would have to give me another truck, one that is smaller. When I told them that the one I initially requested was reserved for about a month and inquired why no one told me it would not be available, he said to contact Uhaul and that there was nothing he could do. While on the phone with Uhaul, he told me he could get me the truck after all. Overall, this experience was nerve-wracking. I felt like if I did not go with my brother, the person in charge would have given me a hard time for no reason. I would absolutely not go to this pick-up location and would not recommend it to anyone. In the end, the person in charge ended up apologizing, but by that time, he had already left a bad taste in my mouth.

The service there was the worst I’ve ever had at any uhaul. I dealt with a guy named Tony who was absolutely horrible and a con artist to say the least. From the time in after going through my reservation and seeing how many days I rented and gave him my mileage proceeded to question me on what I needed the uhaul for and that because the rental was under $100 I would have to purchase insurance for $120 or make a reservation with more mileage if not he would cancel my reservation. After calling customer service and getting things straightened out upon returning the uhaul they did not end the reservation where customer service had to be called again where they contacted the regional manager to contact the store since they weren’t answering to tell them to confirm the vehicle was back. Will definitely not be going there again NEVER nor will anyone I know and can possibly tell about this experience.

Your app was terrible. Didn't warn me about out-of-state license verification process before hand - took thirty minutes to get that figured out. The van assigned to me was buried behind four other vans. The customer service rep on the phone was great, but they shouldn't need to be so good at their job - this company let them down in a big way with a buggy app, bad design, and a less than exceptional level of service at the actual location. Not the experience advertised. Almost missed an important appointment because of this extreme delay.

When we got there, the supplies that we had reserved were not there. Although the representative was not rude, he was just apathetic to the problem that this could have caused especially since we needed a dolly for our move. Luckily we were able to use a different dolly that he had in the back and did not have to transfer our reservation to another location. The Uhaul website and individual locations should be working more collaboratively to ensure this does not happen in the future. If equipment is unavailable at a location, you should not be able to reserve it on the website.

NEVER! I rented a u-haul from a third party contractor on 117th and 1st avenue in East Harlem. The u-haul attendant was rude, unprofessional, and knew very little english and this caused a language barrier. The attendant gave me a truck with a broken spot window. When i brought it to his attention he reported “I know the last person brought it in that way, and I inform them”. He ensured that I wouldn’t have any issues. I was charged for $108 for the mirror. Now i have to dispute the charges. When i returned to discuss my issue he proceeded to yell and blamed me.
