This was one of the worse experiences with UHaul. I was supposed to pick up the truck at 8:00am but finally was able to get it after 10:00am. UHaul needs to stop using independent companies. Or make every location follow the same rules. There needs to be guidelines across the board so there's no guess work for customers.

Agents who manage reservations need to know the location hours. My reservation was for 8 or 9am and I arrived to find out the store did not open until 10. Had to call 800 number to cancel and re-book reservation online which took time. Then, location for truck was incorrect. We were sent to Leesburg Outlets to get truck, but it was not there. Came back to find it at original location (Ace Vacuums). Wasted a lot of time during pickup.

Revoke their license and allow a more reputable person to represent UHaul. I was overcharged and tried to resolve this matter by calling and going into the business twice, but with no success. I'm not sure if this is common place, but I have reported this matter and it is being investigated.

It took longer than normal because no one was at the desk. And the truck was absolutely disgusting with no gas. I had to drive 3 hours with cigarette smoke. There was even half a blunt on the door panel.

Vehicle drop off and key return box were in completely different areas and no information was given about this. Fortunately I got to the “drop off” location right before they closed and the person there informed me that the address given was not correct and saved me $20, because I parked it in the wrong location(even though the app gave me the drop off address). I had to move the truck a half mile away after turning in the truck using the app, and had to get a ride back to the key return box. I do not recommend this return location at all. I do very much appreciate the worker informing me of this, but if I was depending on the app for a no contact return I'd have an additional charge for U-Haul moving the truck to the “right” location. I'd give zero stars if possible. Very frustrating return.

Man working there s*xually harassed me and made me to drive alone to a whole different location in a dark empty parking lot a few minutes away. I had to figure out how to un-attach the trailer and drag it to a park spot alone. The employee said he would have done it for me but im a young woman and he didnt want someone to think he was r*ping me.

Ace Vaccums was fine. The girl working the front was very nice and helpful. It was Uhaul that was the problem! They didn't have the equipment that we order OR at our location. And the additional equipment that we ordered was not in the truck like requested. We ate into our rental time trying to track down a dolly. I'll remember this experience with Uhaul next time I move.

Clarity on out-of-hours pick-up procedures- wider GPS zone for recognizing being at the location - so that you can register in the parking lot - or tell people they need to park and walk to the store entrance in order for the app to work.

First of all, the people at the location were very nice and very courteous. The entire process up to the point of pick up was really smooth. However, After having called the day before pick up and then told the trailer had arrived but hadn't been checked out yet, I received a call back letting me know The trailer was fully checked in and available. After connecting the trailer on my own add an offsite pick up location and returning to the store, I discovered that there was no brake fluid in the trailer. The representative there told me I could buy brake fluid on my own. When I told him I was concerned about where all that brake fluid had gone and that there was probably a leak in the system he had no answer for me except to tell me they were new to this. It was obvious to me that the equipment had not been thoroughly inspected, and I was dealing with someone who did not know the equipment they were renting, creating a potentially unsafe situation for anyone using the trailer. The representative at U-Haul roadside assistance was extremely helpful. She connected me with a representative at the Chantilly Virginia Uhaul store where both the owner and his on-site staff were appropriately concerned and able to share information on the situation that made me comfortable using the trailer. I made an additional call to the U-Haul store in Herndon Virginia and they were equally helpful. The experience with me to question how do you certify your third-party partners. The one I dealt with was clearly not trained and they did not have thorough procedures in place.

let the customer know that the U-haul vehicle is not at the address where the keys are picked up. it took me about 1/2 hour driving back and forth between the key location and the vehicle location following the apps instructions.

It would definitely be difficult to find if I didn't know the area. It was a little weird that I had to call to have them send someone out. When I did, the person was with another customer, so I had to wait and wasn't sure why. I also had to drive the truck across the street to park it. There was no issue with that, but I did have to leave it unlocked with the keys in it, which always makes me nervous.

Vehicles are stored far from office/key pickup. UHaul application requires you to be at key location to initiate the pickup but before you get the code to unlock the box to get the key, you have to verify that your truck is available at the truck site by the vehicle ID number you just got through the app at the key site. The UHaul app requires a picture of your drivers license which it uses to populate fields in the contract. It stuck an "ND" at the end of my name and then used that name to submit my credit card info for payment which the credit card company rejected. There is no way to correct the profile name or CC payment name in the UHaul application or website. If you are doing a pickup when the office is not open, you are out of luck. Called UHaul support and an automated voice informed me it would be a 40 minute wait. Tried the Chat option and after 10 minutes, someone responded. 10 minutes later they told me to contact my CC company when all I needed to do was have them correct my name in their app. Incredibly frustrating!

The equipment worked just fine but the rims were rusting and the tie downs could probably have been replaced already. The person helping with the rental was very friendly and helpful, the location itself was a little obscure and had to circle around a bit to find it.

I attempted to return a trailer to a different U-Haul facility (Affordable Fleet Service/Towing) at 2 P.M., they were closed. Attempted to call the number listed and left a message. No return phone call. But I did take the trailer to Ace Vacuum and they were very professional and accommodating, as well as very personal. I would use Ace Vacuum Facility every time that I am in this area.

What a crappy experience. I had to clean the vehicle as soon as I left the facility, the steering wheel was all sticky from who knows what, the alignment of the front tires sucked, and the inside of back of the truck had to be swept out. Worst of all, I used my own blankets and the guy who reviewed the truck tried to say they were his. Poor experience.

We had to wait an hour for the owner to get back to the store to find which Uhaul was ours and provide keys. He told us this was not his job, he runs a vacuum business.. he was rude and had no consideration for our time. We had to drive to another location to actually pick up the truck and when we arrived back we had to take the truck back to that same other location to drop it off and then go to the store to check out. It was a horrible experience and we will never rent from that location again.

Extra equipment (blankets and dolly) were not available and not mentioned at pick up. Vehicle was a mile away from pick up location and we had to return to store to get blankets and dolly. Store did not have and second U Haul location in town was not open even though posted hours said they would be. Very poor rental experience

The person at the counter in the drop-off location had no idea how to instruct U-Haul customers in how to drop off a U-Haul. He wouldn't even come outside to check the trailer over once we parked it, so we got his name and left. I went online that night to make sure he had checked the trailer in for us and he hadn't. So we had to go back the next day, stand in the parking lot to return the trailer on the uhaul website, and complete the return. If he had just told us that the day before it would have saved us a lot of time and headaches. Please instruct your personnel, U-Haul, in how to help U-Haul customers with pickups and returns!

Good experience overall. Electronic checkin was convenient but took longer than expected given the truck and lock box with keys were not close to each other - had to drive between the two to complete the transaction. Rental truck was not very clean but worked well for our purposes.

I had scheduled a one-way move 15ft truck rental from Sterling, VA to Springfield, VA for 8/21 at 7:30AM. This initial reservation was supposed to have 30 miles allotted. On 8/20, I received a phone call saying the 15ft truck was not going to be available at Sterling, but that they had one available at ACE Vacuums in Leesburg, VA. Because of the distance to Leesburg, I was told I would receive 50 miles instead of the standard 30 for the trip. Also, because ACE Vacuums does not open until 9AM I was told I could do the 24/7 mobile pickup at 7:30AM there. I called ACE Vacuums to confirm this time window for the pickup and they said yes it would be ready for the following day at 7:30AM. I arrived to ACE Vacuums at 7:30AM and there was no 15ft truck in site. There was a 10ft truck, which I assumed had been incorrectly given to me. I called UHaul about it and they said the 10ft was not mine. I did not see a 15ft truck, but they assured me one was there. However, they said the 24/7 mobile pickup had not been correctly setup so I would have to wait until 9AM when ACE Vacuums opens. I was told I would receive a $50 refund for the issue. So I return to ACE Vacuums at 9AM when they are open. As I suspected initially, there is no 15ft truck. The ACE Vacuums employee told me I could use the 10ft one instead and I would receive an $80 refund. I said I would need to do multiple tricks with the 10ft truck because of the smaller size. They told me I would be given 100 miles on the rental to compensate for that. They also asked that I return the truck to ACE Vacuums instead of to my requested dropoff location in Springfield. The following day, I received a $250 bill. I got the $50 refund, but not the $80. And I also was given 0 miles instead of the 100 I was promised. When I called customer service, neither the initial customer service agent or the corporate manager they forwarded me could resolve the issue. UHAUL nearly ruined my move day and they owe me $80 - $50 + 100 * $1.49 = $179 dollars.

This was the worst experience that I had with you guys and I will never rent from you guys again. This location was horrible the office is in one location and the parking is on the by the outlet a good 2-3 min driving. This was annoying if your doing picking up or dropping off when they are close because in order for the app on your phone to recognize your location you have to be by the store. Next you have to drive a few min(outlet traffic on Sunday is not fun) to take pics of the truck. Next u have to drive back again to pick up the key at the lockers located at the office. You have to do all this all over again when you're dropping off the truck. Also I paid for additional furniture dolly which was not included but I was still charge for it.

Little sticker shock on the final tally.... our one 2 day rental probably paid 2 months of lease payments to Ford (the brand of the 15' truck). I understand Uhaul is in business to make money and they have overhead of course but, ouch... that final tally was pretty high.

This is a vacuum cleaner sales and repair shop that rents U-Hauls as a side business. The trucks are kept half a mile away. And this location was 30 minutes away from where we requested a truck. We did not find out until two days before that this was the closest location with trucks, despite our making the reservation two months in advance.

It would have been nice to have a full tank of gas rather than 1/4 tank of gas so I knew how much I had to fill up after my drive. As it is I filled it up because I was unsure how the gas burned and returned it with 3/4 a tank of gas so UHaul made about $40+ additional off me in gas.

It's a vacuum shop with no parking lot so you have to drive another half mile to an outlet mall parking lot to pick up the Uhaul, then drive back to the location to drop the keys off. The uhaul I rented was at an 1/8th of a tank. Which was explained that I was getting an $18 credit for. That doesn't pay for the inconvenience to have to fill up the truck before even getting on my way. I asked for a different truck after realizing this. The guy said he'd bring me keys for another truck. He showed up with no keys for another truck but instead an explanation as to why an 1/8th of a tank and $18 credit was enough. AND THEN, the guy has me drive him back to the vacuum shop to drop him off. Begrudgingly, I obliged rather than get into another confrontation. I didn't have time for any of this and it was and unfortunate and overall bad experience. Will not recommend in the future.
