In a convenience store. The person on staff didn't know anything about Uhaul - had to call his manager to find out what to do. Was told just to leave the key with the clerk - no paperwork. Had to take a picture of the truck at the location and call the general 1-800 number for Uhaul as I was afraid to wouldn't register it as returned. Took us and hour and a half to deal with this before a 3 1/4 hour drive home. Only a small sticker on the door stated uHaul. Another local dealer was more helpful but couldn't take it back as it wasn't the reigstered return location. They were extremely helpful and advised me what to do.Iain M.

This location was horrible... it took me 30 min to even get the store owner...even though I gave all my information online and on phone ...I was still made to hand write my address and credit card number on a piece of paper while the cashier spoke a.differwnt language on the phone reading my information... I then get a bill saying I returned the van at 630 pm when in fact rented it at 1230 and returned at 1330 on the nose.. therefore over charging me by 5 hours and upping my bill to over 75.00 for an hour and 14km ...disgusted and not happy ...Blake P.

The store clerk did not know what he was doing with regards to your service, he did not access my online application properly, had to call for help, served many customers while I was waiting, did not know that the truck was in the front of the store and had us go to the back first, we had to let him know that it was in the front, when I asked about the moving blankets he said oh yah, and proceeded to count them out off of the floor in the back room, gross. This process took 40 minutes ay which point I was getting a bit irritated and the clerk told me that I needed to get more patience. After using your online service with ease, and after getting the confirmation call on Friday from a very pleasant representative of U haul, I was very, very disappointed with the pick up process at this location. Thank you very much for asking about my experience. I hope this feedback will help. I will more than likely use your service in the future but would much rather pickup at a proper U haul location.Kathy B.
I would suggest making sure you choose the right business' to represent your company. Someone who actually will take the time to know the process from start to finish and all the small touches. This man who owns Akash Superstore was very inefficient. And he overcharged us. So upset!Jaclyn H.
Hi put 1/4 tank more then I should have because it was not full when I picked up but only 3/8. For someone who isn't familiar with gas tank/litres etc, was hard to gage gas. They still charged me $10 for extra km not factoring in the extra gas. Would have been nice if they just called even!Melissa B.

I rented the truck for one way from Fenelon Falls and ended up with a 2 way truck which costed me more money for gas and extra driving time which made my move even more inconvenient that I was not impressed with at all and I have used Uhaul many times but after this ....not a returning customerSusan R.

The location was changed from our original booking. We have booked in Peterborough in the past from the Uhaul depot and service was excellent. When we picked up the Uhaul truck from the above location it was a very slow process. It took close to 40 minutes to complete the paperwork. The store owner rang in customers who came in to the store in between our rental (which was extremely annoying as we had to wait). He did not show us the operation of the vehicle. We only wanted the rental for 1 day but we noticed that we were charged for 2 day rental.Margaret M.

i went to location on my contract, called first. unable to understand the person that answered. manager was away but he did say that i could drop the truck. i asked him to verify that i had completed the contract by doing a circle check (i had to tell him what to look for), take the mileage(he looked at me like a deer in the headlights so i explained, make sure i had swept the interior (he did not know how to open the rear door), check the fuel (again i had to show him). i explained that i did not want to pay anymore charges on the rental (again he did not understand). all this time, i had a very hard time understanding what he was attempting to say. to be polite, he was not Canadian. being very nervous about the whole situation, i called the Toronto office, spoke to Omar, told him that i was very nervous in dropping the truck at this location. prior to speaking to Omar, a message came on that the call was being recorded and was assured by Omar that everything would be taken care of and no more charges would be assessed against me..TERENCE P.

Awful experience. The store hours are a joke. Had a pickup at 9, the owner showed up at 9:40, store was supposed to be opened at 7 am! The owner ensured me that the truck was in good condition, but the truck was dirty. That resulted in more headache. Additionally I did not get the pass number for the drop off location. If you can, don't go to that location!!!ANDREY P.
Keep your damned word to your customer. Have reps that actually know what the hell there doing behind the counter. I waited 2 hours for a rep to do my contract and even still i had to contact uhaul customer service and be put through to trafficking for them to talk the rep through how to do my contract. I had to do my own inspection of fuel and millage of which both were not accurate. U had to ask the rep to correct the paper work. I had to argue to give a cash deposit instead of a credit card. Then i get to the oshawa location of which 3 weeks prior i had set up a storage locker reservation with the branch manager vicky. To arrive there today to be told they dont have my reservation for my 5*10 storage locker. So i was put in a huge locker until they can get in fixed monday. So now i have to come back and move my things again. And then to top it off i returned the truck to be told the paperwork i had from peterborough did not show my 100 dollar deposit. And that the oshawa store would not be giving me back my 100 cash. I have to wait 3-5 business days for it to be returned to my visa debit card. I was so angry i called customer service and as soon as i mentioned a lawyer she disconnected the call. I have rented from uhaul many many times and i have never in my life had a more frustrating and stressful encouter with any company i have ever worked withTony P.

Be very clear about what is owed and give bill immediately. We had to call several times and got nowhere. The guy didn't even take the drivers license who moved our stuff. Our experiences with uhaul get worse and worse. Never again will we use your services.Emily D.
One guy behind the counter at the gas bar had to serve all gas bar customers (busy!) and he was also responsible for our U-Haul pickup, a Mini Mover, which was further complicated because he did not know how to unlatch the coupler from the trailer that it was hooked up to. Nuts!!!!! Nice guy; felt bad for him. U-Haul needs to train their outlet contract personnel MUCH better. We'd have been in trouble had he not been able to let us take the other Mini Mover which, thankfully, was on the lot.Gayle G.

My third interaction with uhaul, this one was not a full service uhaul dealer, but again, a service agent, and again, this location SHOULD NOT be allowed to represent uhaul, this man who was running this service was zero percent friendly, who barely said two words to my father and I when we dropped off the truck, he asked if we cleaned it, that was it, we waited inside the gas station for about 20 min while he did the paper work and printed it out, the entire time he said nothing, he didnt explain what he was doing or if we had to wait or anything. finally, he printed off a piece of paper, said we didnt owe anything and that was it. ALSO, we spent 115$ in gas to fill the truck back up at HIS gas station, and no thank you what so ever for that as well, we didnt have to fill up there, but thought it was easiest, in all, a horrible horrible experience.Rachel O.
This location is a convenience store. I had to wait a full hour to get my truck due to problems that the proprietor was having with the uhaul website. I had pre-registered online previously, and so expected to have everything read & waiting for me. This wait was completely unacceptable in mya opinion. The store proprietor did not inspire confidence in me, although he blamed the website for the problems. Evenually, at my urging, he called for support & was walked through the process. Needless to say, this wait did not start off my moving day very smoothly.Kevin S.
This location was clean and neat but again the communications network U Haul has made the visit 45 minutes long. This was no fault of the operator of the depot It was the U Haul computer system. While I was there 3 customers of the store walked out in frustration as the employee tried painfully to get my paperwork completed. I can't really recommend this to anybody. I was frustrated all 5 occassions. 30 minutes the first booking, 40 minutes to try and get a fridge cart earlier than truck rental date, 55 minutes truck rental pick up, run across town to another depot to get an appliance cart which took another 30 minutes again on the computer and then finally another 45 minutes at the drop off. I went over my kilometers because of the extra trip to get the cart at another location even though I had originally requested an appliance cart with the truck rental. On the other hand the equipment was A 1 and the rental contract reasonable. On that basis I would recommend U Haul.Steve B.
This location should lose its Uhaul license or franchise. The service was terrible, and there is another seemingly larger, more professional location less than half a mile away. Incidentally, that's the location we chose when we reserved online, but we were assigned to this terrible location instead for some reason. The person behind the counter took upwards of 25 minutes to check us in, using a ratty old laptop. At one point he plugged an equally ratty looking USB card reader in and swiped my credit card. This hardly made me feel confident my personal information was secure. Oh and I'd done the online "express check-in" - but he seemed to have to manually enter all our information again. Once the truck was ready, the man informed us that it was covered in snow, and that he didn't think there was a snow brush in the truck (there wasn't). Fortunately we had one in our car, otherwise I'm not sure what we would have done. Also, the moving blankets and dolly we'd ordered (and which the confirmation email said were guaranteed to be ready for pickup) - weren't there. The man said he didn't have any to give us. When I asked him to remove those items from our invoice, he said he didn't know how, and instead refunded me the amount in cash from the till. Terrible experience - avoid this location!JEAN-PAUL D.
Since we had issues with cc had to pay 100$ deposit with debit card. Since it took over 1.5hrs to complete this transaction with was already secured over the Internet and in a rush we left the dealer only to find out on returning the truck that the paper work stated that deposit was paid then returned at the same time. I feel this dealer intentionally ripped me off at Christmas. Not impressed at all!JASON M.
Dealing with representative at Akash was very frustrating. Upon drop off the attendant was not able to provide me with a bill and did not inspect the truck at all. Also did not confirm actual miles driven. The issue was rectified the next day but all employees need to be able to deal with the uhaul systems if they are working there.DAVID T.

Absolutely terrible. If you want to wait half a day to pick up your truck after the owner decides to finally show up, and also getting the wrong truck then this is the spot for you. This guy was an embarrassment to represent any company, U Haul definitely should not have this guy represent them. I want to thank the employyes in the location. they were extreemely helpful and friendly. Unfortunately I didnt get the names. the lady on the phone and at the front desk was very cortuous. when my twoing hitch ball didnt fit she started maing phone calls looking for a solution and finding an alternative equipment. also, the lady in the garage who gave me the trailer was fabulous. She struggled in the cold to hook my car into the trailer and insisted on expalaining to me all the safety features despite it was extreemely cold and she didnt have gloves on. The only thing I can think of that would be be helpfull for the next customer would be to mention that if the truck is reserved by another customer immediately after your return time, and you can not get back on-time, then there is an expensive surcharge by the half-hour. We did required the truck beyond the original alloted time by about 4 hours. Had there been a pending reservation I would have had an expensive bill in the end. This may have been explained at the start of the rental but when you are moving a household there is a lot of details to be dealt with, some, at the time, more important than others. Aside from that one small comment our experience with U-haul was excellent, as it has been on the other occasions when we rented from the company. Keep up the good work.MATTHEW R.

Make sure the snow is cleaned off the roof. I had an awful scare when I braked and a whole pile of snow came flying down on my windshield. I couldn't see so I was lucky I was at a stop sign - otherwise it could have caused an accident. Keep Louise working there. She is a fantastic employee and she deserves every penny she earns and more. She is so pleasant and helpful and makes the whole experience a real pleasure.JANE O.

We had booked a 10 foot truck for Dec 31st a month in advance, there was not one available, in fact there was nothing in an ottawa location and only a 17 foot which we were not licenced to drive and would not fit in our parking lot that could only be picked up out of town. We were told this is because it is policy not to look at a booking until the day before. There is no point in making a booking if this is the case, your website has false advertising giving a false sense of security by offering booking that is not provided. The idea of booking ahead is that there is reassurance a truck is set aside. This was not done and then finally when we rebooked and got a truck (having stayed 2 days more than legal in our apartment, causing problems) they said that it is not actually possible to book a dolly (although I had online) and the woman there said it was stupid to say that on the website when they never have it put aside. The parking lot was also not plowed so we had difficulty getting the truck off the lot.STEPHANIE V.

Although the cargo van was quite new (7K KM)it had been used prior to me by a painter or drywaller who I assume made a real mess and contrary to the sign posted in the cargo section, hosed out the van. When I picked it up the next morning the cargo section was soaking wet and I had to wipe off the INSIDE of the windshield before driving the van. in addtion, I inspected the van for damage before driving and found a major dent/scrape pn the right side which had been totally missed by the agent. I was not impressed. You need to inspect each vehicle on return and charge renters for damage and unauthorized cleaning methods.JOHN O.
I have a bad taste left in my mouth after my recent experience with Uhaul and for this reason I will not be using your services again. I filled up the tank 1/4 of a tank more than I needed to because the gas guage was flipped in the truck and therefore read opposite from the guage on the contract. I have proof of this as well as all the receipts (I paid $36.00 in gas for a 35 km drive!) Even the local Uhaul agent said that she makes the same mistake often. I called the regional office for Ontario and spoke to the manager their who cut me off and told me tha Uhaul does not reimburse for gas, period. I would understand this if it were a quation of a few dollars, but in this case an exception could have been made since we are talking about $25.00 or more in gas.) This was an honest mistake that anyone could make and I have very clear proof it in the contract. I hope that whomever reads this considers it since if this is not resolved I will never use Uhaul again or reccomend them to anyone. Ben ShepherdBEN S.

Louise is an excellent person to greet and assist customers. Very pleasant and efficient. The truck worked well but it leaked around the wheel wells when we ran into rain and a snowstorm. Some blankets and boxes got wet on the bottoms but fortunately nothing was damaged.KEN H.

got a call from the location on time, got the equipment on time, equiqpment was ready and clean, equipment was easy to get at to hook (contrary to some other location in Ottawa that i will not name, where I had to back up on the grass while the attendant was serving gas to another customer instead of helping me). I had previously expressed my dissatisfaction at the U-Haul website (https://www.uhaul.com/customer/feedback/comment_card.aspx) earlier in the week. I was disappointed that the location is a kiosk, but more importantly that I was not advised that it was a 1 person operation. Subsequently, I arrived at 3:50 p.m. expecting to rent the van and be on my way, only to find out the employee was on break. (I have no issue with the employee being on break, they are certainly entitled). I was frustrated, as I had to wait and was not advised that there would be nobody to assist me between 3:50 p.m. and 4:05 p.m. Subsequently, my plans wound up being rearranged and caused delays in where I had to be etcâ€¦ (trickle down effect). I was also disappointed with the fact that the advertisement for the rental is $19.95 per day, however, there is an additional cost of $0.49 per km AND I have to replace the gas? Other vehicle rental companies offer unlimited mileage, so I really had no advantage going to U-Haul, the cost would have been virtually the same.MARINO D.
U-Haul cancelled my reservation 2 weeks after I made it by sending me an email 2 days before pick up without any phone call. In fact U-Haul changed reservation to a different location for pick up and date with onus on me to change or face charges for not picking up. Lousie at Campbell Ford corrected after I contacted her (and fortunately she had a different truck available) but U-Haul has very bad practise about this & I am not certain if I would chance making another reservation again with U-Haul as a result.MALCOLM W.

Employees taking the resesrvations have no idea about available equipment. They usually send the customers to locations which are far away from their homes. We did the reservation over the phone and in one hour somebody called us to go in Kanata- probably 20-30 minutes by car. We left home and stopped at another U-Haul location close to our home and of course there were minivans available and we were able to rent one right away. The centralized reservation system might save money for the company but for sure does not increase the quality of services.CORINA R.
i also recently rented from your coventry rd. ottawa ont location, and was dissatisfied with the truck that i received, the truck would rev and want to jump forward while i was stopped at traffic lights, i do know a little about mechanics and i'm sure that this vehicle would never qualify for a safety... also after i was done loading, the truck would not start, it delayed me by 2 hours, while i tried to contact the office, there was no answer and i had to call a friend to come and give me a boost.. when i reported this to the office upon return they just seemed to shrug it off like business as usual. this is not the first bad experience at this location as their equipment is dated and unkept, but i can say that was the last time i will rent from that location, i hope this letter will actually achieve something although i will not hold my breath. thank you James AitkenJAMES A.
