The local U-Haul businesses were great, but the central online system was not great. They changed the arrival dates after the reservation was confirmed. However, the local businesses on each end of the move were able to make the original dates work. They were very helpful and pleasant.

As being I am debilitated, to have someone there to unhook trailer, Had no level spot to set trailer. Gravel and mud and on a slope. When I lifted the hitch off of the ball, the trailer rolled ahead and cut my trailer wiring. And I was told someone would be present until 19:00 hours, to help.Brian L.
The gentleman I meet in the back of the building was extremely rude! the location to pickup and return the trailer was a uneven non paved grass / mud and rut filled area. I will NEVER use this location again. I have rented several items from UHaul over the years and never experienced such a horrible experience!Mark P.
On both ends the service was great. Uboxes we're delivered on time, picked up on time and arrived at destination on time. As far as furniture pads, way too many for us. Took up some valuable packing space as we had to get them to the destination to be returned. But a reasonably priced option for a cross country move.Edwin A.

Owner claims they are the largest U-haul in Illinois, yet they had 4 trucks and 2 trailers. I say this because of the arrogance and rudeness of the owner. I had to work around his schedule and he was not present, I had to make an â€œappointmentâ€ it he claims this is how â€œU-haul worksâ€ even though I made my reservation for a specific pickup time. The owner claimed that means nothing and I need to book a time to pick up with him. I've rented countless trailers from countless locations and never experienced such a rude and unprofessional owner (even downtown Chicago).Andrew M.

Second month in a row I was,charged rent on a box that was,returned. Unhappy as he says,not his fault. Which may not be but then this comment is for UHAUL. But being a franchise there has to be some responsibility on him. Wants me to call when a supervisor is there at main uhaul. 1st time I stayed on th e line and second time he said he was online and comments he said was the box was rented out to someone else but they are still billing me and they need to look into it. Isn't looking into it is not what I want. After 2 months I want this solved and not just my credit back to my card but should credit an additional month for my inconvenience. He said when I asked no they don't do that. I said I wanted him to ask. He said no. My time can be wasted but he will not ask for compensation for the inconvenience. I rented 3 boxes total shipped to two different places. Both have had issues. So I am asking again to be compensated one months,rent for my inconvenience. The uhaul store's blame uhaul corporate, but don't they have to do something online to close out account on line?Mary T.

Mice broke into one of my boxes. Thankfully it did not contain any of my clothes or mattresses, but I do have to now wash everything that was in there (movies, dishes, pans, books, etc). I don't know if the mice chose that unit because of the hole on the side of the ubox (NOT caused by me- looked to be about the size of the pallet Jack) or because it was stored in a barn (like a gutted out wood dairy barn), or some other reason. The guy that ran both the German Valley and Chana locations was never really a friendly sort. He always had this attitude that he knew better than me. He was condescending and rude. I do wish I would've been notified that my boxes were going to be transferred from GV to Chana for storage. I also wish that Uhaul would know what locations can and cannot store the u boxes. I was initially told they would be delivered to Loves Park. The guy that runs GV told me that was dumb because his location is the largest in northern Illinois and why would I think they'd go to LP? It's too small. Definitely won't use u boxes again, but the trucks have always been good.Michelle M.

Truck was not clean. Soda pop in the cup holders. Windows were very dirty. No internet signal as out in rural area. Population 500. Other than that. I had to go to Freeport to get internet service on my phone.Gale P.

Get organized, train your staff to be friendlier, (especially the guy who met us at the trailer) and make sure that all the information when making a reservation is relayed to the customer. I made numerous reservations that were altered by uhaul to equipment that I didn't want I'm assuming due to that's what was available.Joseph B.
Staff was rude when I initially tried to figure out how the UHAUL system worked. Then 2 hours before the appointment, staff delayed the pickup appointment by 1 hour. Staff was then not even on site until 1/2 an hour after the delayed appointment time. He did not communicate the benefits or drawbacks to providing an email address and misrepresented how the drop-off system worked. Staff did give a $10 refund as an apology for being tardy, but that seemed small compared to the 1.5-hour inconvenience.KALEB B.

I rented a one way trailer from Illinois to Minnesota. The web stated I would get the rental near my home on State street. Two days before the rental pickup , I get a call from Alcohol Party Catering stating I need to make an appointment to pick up the unit. What happened to my rental on State street??? Alcohol party stated they are the largest U HAUL dealer in Illinois and they do one way rentals, not the others. Why didn't the website state that to me, when I originally rented the 4 x 8 trailer?? On the web , I was quoted $72.00 for the rental. I canceled the rental because I did not know what was going on! But the next day, I called Alcohol party to rebook. They then quoted me a $86.00 rental. I asked WHY? He stated it is like airlines bookings, the closer you get to your travel dates, the more it would cost. Since I was picking up the unit the next day, I agreed to the increase price. made an appointment to pick up at 10:30. He stated that if I am not there by 10:35, the unit would be canceled. REALLY? This place is hard to fine, and, except for 2 UHAUL posters, looks like any other run down strip mall. The guy running the "Liquor/Tobacco" store came out of the door and pointed to the middle of the strip mall parking lot. "Put it over there !" he said, and then went back to selling booze, butts and lottery tickets. The weather was clear, sunny and warm. This guy was just "too busy" to be bothered with UHAUL business. I unhooked the trailed myself, and left it in the general area the guy had pointed to. When I have rented other times UHAUL folks have always told me that I was to NEVER unhook the trailer, but to have them do it. There was NO "check in inspection" , and I was not real sure if the guy even knew what I was dropping off. I called YOUR "888" phone number after I unhooked the trailer, and was told that I should not worry about any of this, and that the phone person was putting my comments on record so that UHAUL would know that I had dropped the trailed off. Is this really the kind of place that should be representing UHAUL ???James M.

Stop letting this liquor store rent out equipment. For one is right next to a bar so you have to deal with drunk people. Then you have to deal with a rude , condescending jerk to rent the equipment. He arguees with the customer and tells them "look I have been doing this for 30 years, you have to listen to me". What kind of customer service is that. I don't think he could even spell customer service. A customer shouldnt get treated like they are an inconvenience for having to rent from that Uhaul because others were out of equipment. The guy there hung up on me once, then in store told me that I was wrong and that I was very unsmart for not buying the extra insurance, then told me I didn't know what I was talking about when I said my business insurance covers the trailer. Who wants to pay for a service , then gets disrespected and treated like a worthless customer for doing so. News Flash, with out the customers there is no business. I will never go there again. I will also tell anyone who will listen how bad the service was there. Who is he trying to fool he is not an alcohol catering company, he is a liquor store.LEVI M.

Needed a 26 foot truck. Reserved one in advance. Got a 15 ft and a 12ft trailer. Horrible unhooking trailer and moving to load the truck! Had to make two extra trips. Got 150 miles free to compensate. Then they charged $80 extra because we returned to store rented from instead of store reserved location, even though we were advised to "just bring it back to them". Why reserve in advance????? Why was I told at 4:30 pm the night before they would not have my truck??? They are not the only service around, if you don't have what I ordered don't leave me hanging last minute!! MOST HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE EVER WHILE IN THE MIDST OF THE STRESS OF MOVING!!!WILLIAM J.
