It was very impersonal. Everything was done online by phone and hoops through the pick up process takes about 30 minutes. Taking photos of yourself and ID information. The process requires photo ID and other personal information, this is a little ridiculous. Almost made me late for the movers to arrive. The process is easier when you can talk to a live person, I found the online experience to be intrusive. They also did not give us out moving pads, so I ended up using my own blankets to wrap furniture. In person employee pick up of truck and drop off. Also include the items that you need in the back of truck such as moving pads.jamie S.

The man came 2cdoor said closed. Didn't want to except the trailer, I told him that is where the dropoff is, he said he was closed, so I told him I was dropping it and I did. And left. That location should not even be associated with uhaul. I've rented several times from uhaul and I've never had anyone be that rude. If it were up to me, I would not associate my company with him. Even though the business was closed, a gentleman working after hours graciously received our return, making life much easier for me, in that I had to return my brother, who had volunteered to help us, back to Chattanooga. So thank you very much.Keith J.

I went to the Bristol TN West State Street location first to reserve the truck. The owner was totally unfriendly, obviously hated his job!! Then I decided to change my pick up date on line, but I just kept getting a message that the site was not working check back later. So i tried the live chat, which was very slow and then I called, I was on hold 20 minutes the first try, so long story short after 50 minutes of phone calls I got the date changed!! The next day I picked up the truck and the store on the volunteer parkway in bristol tn was a dump and again, another rude person who obviously hated her job!!! HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! The only saving grace was the truck ran well and no problems.Lora C.

We just used the key drop off box and did not have the opportunity to interact with anyone. We liked the option to drop off early with the key box.lisa D.
Inform people... especially for people that they know have not rented a truck from them before to instruct them and show them the paperwork about the gas fill up before you bring it back. All they did was hand me a folded paper and did not even mention one thing about the gas. Therefore I had to get back in the truck go to a gas station fill up and then go back and drop the truck off... I was not a happy camper about not being told how that works and actually shown the paperwork to show how to figure out how much to put back in it. I thought that was totally uncalled for. Specify time of turn in to the minute as opposed to just the day. This cost me extra and was an unpleasant surprise. BTW, weather during move was rainy & wipers were lousy-squeaked and smeared rather than clearing water from windshield.William B.

First, Uhaul did not have the vehicle we reserved at our closest location. I had to drive an extra 30 minutes to pick up a larger vehicle. The staff was barely civil and seemed more annoyed that I was there. She gave no instructions - just handed me the keys. I received a larger vehicle, used more gas, and had to drive farther.Kathy L.

My dad took the rental back but he told me this. That he got out and went to help & the man said I'll get it just back it up right here. While he was checking out he came back and the man had EVERY THING UNHOOKED AND SAID THANK YOU!! Don't get much of that any more. They also get a big ATA BOY too !! This is a great place to rent they deserve our business and I don't say that about every where I go !!david T.

Truck only had 4,500 miles on the odometer, but the air conditioner did not work. It only blew hot air. It was a miserable 3 hr. Ride from Abingdon, VA to Charlotte, NC. THERE IS NO EXCUSE IN THIS HAPPENING SINCE I RESERVED A TRUCK 3 days in advance of move.C. W. D.
The check in process was ridiculous. The lady refused to use the confirmation # to look up the order and instead pulled an old reservation trying to convince us the order was wrong and she would need to do a new order *of course charging us more than what our order was originally for* and she was rude and hateful while making this process much more stressful than it needed to be.Jennifer R.

Make sure you go over your contract with a fine toothed comb. If you see something questionable address it. We weren't charged what was originally quoted at reservation. Truck wasn't available at the location the reservation was made for. I always end up unhappy with uhaul. If I had known that I would get the run around, forced out of my reservation terms, and then end up with unauthorized charges I would have gone out of my way to make a reservation with the company I usually rent from. Alas, I didn't know that making a reservation at the local uhaul would force me 30 miles out of my way and break the bank. I guess the lesson had to be re-learned.LUCIA S.
The woman who attended to me was unable to use the system to fulfill my reservation, acted inconvenienced when I came in to pick up the truck, did not have sufficient cash for change (I had to go to the bank and make change), was not clear how to use the equipment, and cursed in front of my children. Had another pick up location at first, much more convenient, but they did not have the trailer I needed. When got trailer home one of the tie down straps was too short. Had to call U-haul service. Finally got vehicle loadwd and secured.PAUL T.

The conversation I had with the company about picking up my truck was the least professional conversation I've ever had. They were disorganized, and tried to get me to change my reservation pickup day and time, and when I couldn't, they asked me to call back the next day to work out the details... Wow, really??? It all ended up okay in the end, and I'm thankful. But this is not only unprofessional, it's stressful when a rental location tries to add additional elements to figure out with moving - which is already stressful enough.ANGELA M.

Uhaul did not honor my reservation and notified me at 3:00 pm on Friday afternoon! It was impossible for me to make any other arrangements. Everyone denied responsibility or took ownership, citing that they were all booked. I know.....one of the reservations was mine! Never uhaul again.... You took my money and I am expected to honor my obligation or you charge me.....never again.William W.

It is amazing that it costs a little over $40 to rent a trailer one way from Bristol to Concord, MA. Yet If I went from Concord to Bristol, TN - driving on the very same roads - it is almost $400.Ric C.
Make yourself reachable. Wes advised me to call him about week before I needed a ramp trailer and he would try and locate one in the local area. when I called, he failed to call back. When I did reach him the following week he advised that they did not have a ramp trailer for the motorcycle. Don't know if he tried to find one or not, so went with the 5x8.WILLIAM A.

The 1-800 number I was given by American Appliance called Traffic because there was a double book on the truck was very poor service and even worse attitudes. They were rude, raised their voice, and not willing to help fix issue. Had it not been for the great people at American Appliance, I would not have had the truck and not been able to move into our first home. That customer service has left a bad impression and probably last time I use them. Again Amazing people at American Appliance saved my day, cannot give them enough thanks!!!CRAIG M.
The whole experience started off bad. I called the day before I was to pick the truck and my pick up location had no record of my reservation even though I had a confirmation number. They gave me the number to corporate and the guy from corporate found a truck a couple miles further for me but it was a 26 foot tryck and I reserved a 20 foot. I didnt need that much space and could not afford the extra costs for gas. But of course that didnt matter. So I had to take the bigger truck. When i went to pick it up, I wanted to pay with a check but it was not an acceptable form of payment. Overall, not a very good experience with the reservation process.STACIE H.
