Tell the guy at the front desk to do his job. I brought my truck back and went to turn the keys in. Asked if I needed to do anything else and as he was watching you tube on his phone he said no you are good. But on my app the truck was not checked in and it would have charged me more money if returned after hours. What a mess.

When the address for this location, 549 Hamburg Ave Astoria, OR 97103, is put into google maps the directions are incorrect. Sent me down a dead end street that was very difficult to turn around. I know this is not U-Haul fault, but may see about getting this fixed before somebody gets a truck stuck down a dead end street.

Be able to talk to the center where you rent the actual u-haul. Going through the call center is royal pain in the tushy. I had issues during the pickup and could not even speak to the representative that or the place that I picked it up from.

It's hard to distinguish between issues in the central office versus our local location, hence the "average" review. The good news was we didn't have our truck improperly returned by staff at this location (resulting in thousands of dollars of fees because they charged us for a trip to TX last time in Tacoma!) and we did not have to drive all over the Seattle metro area to go from location to location at the last minute (as we were packing to move the next day) looking for a truck since they canceled it at the last minute and no one answers the phone and central booking was trying to get us to drive 1.5 hrs to pick up a truck that may or may not be there. Ahhhhhh, memories. But here's our experience this time: there was some confusion when I called to confirm 24 hours before pick up: it was apparently double booked and the one order I had put in was canceled with no notification, so I thought the truck was canceled. Would have been nice to be notified about this problem. The central office then booked trucks at two more locations for me (one at a location that is still a mystery since I didn't return the call from that office) and two different times. Since this seemed highly unreliable, I had to drive down to this original location to find out what happened (since of course no one answered the phone) and I was able to discover that there was a truck in my requested size sitting in the lot, even though the clerk said it was for someone else (what is the name on that reservation, I asked, thinking it might be my partner. He replied: it's not your name. I replied: how do you know it's not me, since I haven't given you my name yet?) Turns out it was me after all, and they had somehow double-booked the truck and only canceled one of the reservations, which was the one on my paperwork. :-/ SO MUCH UNNECESSARY CHAOS, UHAUL. We picked up the truck the next day and the blankets we ordered weren't there, so we had to drive 30 min away to pick them up at another location, and traffic was so bad it made me late for my appointment. This is all on the date of our move, so very inconvenient. The condition of the truck was great and we had no problems with it. Upon our return, given the Texas situation, I asked for a receipt immediately and that was provided with some disdain and mansplaining and the clerk taking the person who arrived after we did -- but whatever. At least it worked out and seemed to be correct. I would consider this a below average experience given the random cancelation and need to fix that at the last minute plus drive to get blankets, AND deal with jaded staff and an overzealous central booking person, but because nothing terrible happened and it's UHaul, I would say it was average. But seriously, UHaul central office -- it's not pandemic times anymore. Get your act together.

The middle seat and the belt of the middle seat were very sticky. We had to clean the middle seat and we had troubles adjusting the middle seat belt because of the stickiness.

Was called early in the morning of my reservation and told the brand new pick up truck that I had reserved needed service and that I would be given a box truck instead. The replacement box truck was in very bad condition and when I returned it I saw the owners of the U-Haul getting out of the brand new U-Haul truck that I had reserved (obviously it did not need service, also when I picked up the box truck the customer service representative who was good had no knowledge of an issue with the pickup). I will never rent from this location again, and I will ensure everyone I talk to on the coast is aware of how bad it is. I will also most likely be leaving a one-star Google review.

, I want to present you a complaint or disagreement about a situation that is occurring with a reservation I have, below I explain in detail. On March 9th I made a reservation (number 73334040) in person at one of their offices, I booked a 10-foot truck, and a trailer, I will be moving out of the City, I made the plans in advance because I wanted to avoid setbacks. Yesterday I went to the same office where I made the reservation just to change the day I would pick up the truck, (it would no longer be Saturday, it would be Sunday) and the person in charge told me that it was fine, that there would be no problems, and later you send me a text message where you tell me that the place where I will pick up the truck is in another city, and the trailer will also be in another City, I immediately called the place where I made the reservation and the person tells me that the truck they had broke down and that they can only offer me a 15 foot truck, and that the trailer is not in this City but in another, I am really very worried I could not stop thinking about it, It has caused me a lot of stress for three reasons. If I made a reservation in advance because you notify me two days before my move of these changes, why did you not take my reservation seriously in advance. Secondly I made the reservation for a 10 foot truck because it is enough space to move my things, I understand that a truck can break down, however a 15 foot truck has a higher price than the 10 foot one, the 15 foot truck is heavier and consumes more fuel, Why should I have to pay for these excess expenses if it is not my responsibility that you do not have more 10-foot units? In addition to this, to pick up the trailer I have to travel to another city with the truck, and those additional miles were not budgeted for in my journey because the city where I was told the trailer is on the opposite side of where I will travel, in this case I will lose time, gas, money, and the excess miles will have to be paid by me? When is it not my fault that the truck and trailer I requested is not at the place where I originally made my reservation? Third, yesterday when I made the call with you, the person who answered me was very unprofessional, I am frustrated and very stressed, and this person behaved very rudely, I strongly asked him to help me and he just said that he could not do anything, the only solution that the means was to cancel the reservation if I was not satisfied, Do you think this is a real solution or a cheap and unprofessional excuse? Of course it is, I asked him to speak to his manager on duty and he denied me, saying that he was not available, really this situation has given me a lot of anxiety and stress, I hope they can give me a solution. Thank you

First time renting a car transporter, he made it really easy and hooked it up to my truck for me. Then when he realized my car required a 6 pin plug instead of a 4-pin that the trailer required, he had the adapter in stock and hooked it all up! I was able to return the trailer a day early, after hours easily. The trailer was so easy to use, everything worked so perfectly, debating just to continue to rent in the future instead of buying our own!

Everything was great until my storage unit was broken into. I got the unit for a family member who was suddenly moving to this area unexpectedly and was very happy to find that Astoria Storage was the only place around that had unit’s available. If you rent an outside unit …. it’s fair game for anyone to break in as there are no cameras or fencing to prevent anyone from coming in or out.Someone was able to cut the lock on my storage ….. go inside … shut the door back down and have all night to open and go through every box in my storage. The place is clean… the people are nice …. the price for the storage was normal …… the problem is ….. your belongings are not safe. Good Luck !!!

Lighting around the building is needed. Also please look at numbering the actual units. We could not find the unit when we first got it and had to be shown. Guy at that time said "we don't number them due to the tweekers". That made me very iffy on renting from you. I did and had the place almost a year. No issues with my unit. But heard others were broken into. This could easily be changed with better lighting and cameras around. Would also be nice if someone worked on Sundays so renting a U-Haul could be available. With the cost of the units this should be more then doable.

Notice of 20% rent increase dated 1/27/22. My rent due on the 4th or 5th of each month. I had not yet received notice of increase on 2/5/22 when I had to drive down there to make a payment because your phone system did not work. Drove to facility to pay $75 rent, only to find out it was $90 per month. Bad business practices. Good riddance!

Well after 15 years phew ! Was glad to finally place my stuff elsewhere . The young man was very helpful and available to run elevator and unlock doors Was sad to see all the rat urine and rat droppings in the unit when I moved stuff out but other then a few chew marks and it smelled , all in all my stuff was in tact . I hope someone put rat traps out tho others might not take it so lightly . Thank you
