The guy running this place sits on his tablet and let's you do the work. Make sure your rental is 1. Clean 2. Correct mileage 3. Double check the gas gauge... (Make sure there's,no beef jerky and food behind the seats) My first time renting and they taught me how to deal with sleaze bags. He over charged on as many things as he could. It took me over 2 hours of my time to get it straightened out through customer Service. I reserved a van (they have that guarantee) they did not want to give me the credit. Very unprofessional the way this was... Just be careful and make certain they are doing their job!Chelsae P.

I had to ask for help to connect the very large trailer to my hitch at pickup. Upon return I was on my own while the person at the desk sat and watch videos. I will avoid this location as much as possible in the future. Btw, the Gearhart location has amazing service.MARY G.

The agent on site went out of his way to help me outside of business hours and I got to my apartment just as the movers arrived, but I could have scheduled my movers differently or picked up the truck the night before if my reservation time change had been sent to me in time to change my plans. I've never had a truck rental go smoothly, but have received help on-site to remedy the problems. Customers should utilize the 24-hour-long rental time and pick up their truck at least 2 hours early to avoid last-minute problems.Sarah J.

Staff was very polite and informative, as usual. Truck had an empty soft drink can in the cab which started rattling around the second day. Truck was reasonably clean. There was one minor downside in that as soon as I started the engine, the warning light indicated the truck was due for an oil change. I did forget to inform the staff of that,....but they do record the mileage at each transaction.SCOTT R.
Notice of 20% rent increase dated 1/27/22. My rent due on the 4th or 5th of each month. I had not yet received notice of increase on 2/5/22 when I had to drive down there to make a payment because your phone system did not work. It would have helped to know ahead of time what would be needed for the mobile pickup. And I had absolutely no idea that I needed to do anything for mobile drop off. I have used U-Haul afterhours numerous times and just dropped the keys in the box, which is what I did this time. Waking up to an email that I needed to turn the truck in was alarming. How about not trying to charge my card for two additional days after I had dropped it back off for the one paid day right on time. Also he just tells me to drop it where it was pick up'd and expect me to be able to lift of the ball in which I wasn't strong enough so I had to go in and ask him to help and he acted like meeeehhhh I'll be there in a few mins. I ask him to inspect it and he says we're all good and he'll take care of it and then I'm billed for two more days in which the 3rd day hadn't even come yet. Plus trying to take my money without my authorization. And then when I try to call him a tad after 5pm when they are closed to try to leave a message asking what's the deal? Voicemail box is full. I have a couple more problems with the guy working at the Astoria Oregon office mini storage U-Haul rental office but I'll talk to his manager about it after the billing issue is fixed.Noah C.

The trailer didn't have a jack stand to help us lift onto the hitch. My husband and I had to lift it into the hitch. We had to use rocks to help lift it up high enough to get it onto our hitch. I think this is dangerous and we almost couldn't do it ourselves. Taking it off of our hitch was even harder.Sheryl R.

The mobile sign in process took forever and was way harder than an in person check in. Would not want to do it again. The price online also kept showing differently and was confusing. The attendant who checked me in for my rental tried to put me into two other vehicle types before he relented and gave me the van I had reserved, On the past the service here has been great, but this younger man erased those past positive experiences.JOHN C N.
Well after 15 years phew ! Was glad to finally place my stuff elsewhere . The young man was very helpful and available to run elevator and unlock doors Was sad to see all the rat urine and rat droppings in the unit when I moved stuff out but other then a few chew marks and it smelled , all in all my stuff was in tact . My only problem is I was charged three times. I received two receipts, but never received the third. I was told since I returned the truck with 1/4 tank more fuel in the tank, they would adjust the mileage to my favor to reflect the over amount on gas. Instead I was charged again for a larger amount. Not to sure I understand why.Jimmie W.
My truck rental didn't work properly. It would shift up or down and RPM was too high 4-5k consistently. A loose engine belt or component gave off a high pitched screech whenever the vehicle was going over 55mph. It did not stop for the entire drive. Don't allow reservations for equipment that isn't in stock. I originally ordered a truck from a U-Haul location closer to my destination, but was re-routed to this location instead, only to find out the size of truck I reserved wasn't in stock here. Also, there was a dead rat outside the front door of this location, and it looked like it had been there for days. Keeping the location clean would make a big improvement.Alyssa E.

Honor the price indicated in the reservation system. I booked this truck for $19.95 + $1.19/mile, but when I reviewed the receipt it showed that I was charged $1.59/mile! That is a substantial difference, and when I saw that I went online to check the current price and it still shows $1.19/mile. I will not recommend UHaul to anyone if I can not get a refund for the difference. Thank you.Bryan S.

The agent was not wearing a mask at drop off or pick up. When asked about OR state mandate for businesses, he said he didn't have to â€œbecause it's not a very public place.â€Iris D.
I dropped off the truck after hours so this in no way reflects upon the staff, but we finally had to just drop the keys in the box and leave because the cell service at that location was so bad that we couldn't complete the check-in process on our phones. Tried three different phones with three different providers and still no luck. When we called uhaul, we got put on hold for customer service, and it was over 80 minutes before we got helped. Luckily we had hit the road and were calling from the drive, or we would have been that much later on our journey. Suggestion: have a WiFi password/signal available on the contract to allow people to complete the check-in verification process in areas with poor cell service.LANDON E.

Drivers side mirror was loose and office didn't have a simple tool to fix it. I had to go to the store and buy an allen wrench to secure the mirror for safe driving. How does a mini storage not have basic tools? When I returned the truck, the person working seemed bothered by me entering the office. The truck was filthy. There was old smelly garbage. It stank of b.o. & wet dog. But the worst is a Coke bottle filled with urine was under the driver's seat! SO GROSS. Also, there were no shipping blankets. I stopped by the day before to get measurements & I was glad I did. I had to drive to the Uhaul in Gearhart, OR, to get the blankets where they had plenty. Otherwise it would have been an extra hour for me the day of loading. The truck was older. It was a very rough ride & extremely noisy.Sheila S.

This is not the fault of the guy who was working, this is the fault of the GM for not properly training or supporting this poor guy. He had no clue what he was doing. When I went to pick up my truck, they didn't have the one I reserved over a month ago. When he called the area manager to help him, they weren't honest with us about not having what we reserved so they upgraded us without disclosing that. When we went to see the truck the guy handed us the key and then took off. Didn't show us anything about the truck, didn't check the gas etc. when I got in the tank was on E, it was absolutely filthy, old food & wrappers everywhere, dog hair etc. When I got home we realized this truck is WAY too big for our needs and wouldn't fit in the parking we had reserved for offload in our new place. We called around to try and get it fixed but all locations were closed, and the area manager said there was nothing she could do because she doesn't have phone numbers for the managers of each location, which we found odd. Ultimately the next morning we were able to switch out our massive truck for the right size, but when we got to that location the same guy was there & we explained our situation and that the area manager should've updated our reservation. He chose a random set of keys and said here, pointed to the truck and walked away, this truck was also not what we reserved, it was tiny! When I went back in to tell him he said â€œoh, we'll here.â€ Handed us ANOTHER set of random keys. When we went to find the truck it was the same tiny size as the last one. We finally secured the right truck, and when we got it the tank was on E, had 20 miles until it was out, so we had to fill it up. The cab smelled like smoke and old food, hair everywhere, sticky. Overall -1000/10 for this experience. We will be getting ahold of corporate & BBB regarding this experience because it was atrocious.Makara S.
