Excellent staff, very personable and ready to help in any way possible.
LOREN BWe returned our 10" Uhaul truck about 15 minutes before closing, and the gentleman had customers renting at that time.The gentleman was then very kind and patient with us. We explained that there a couple of problems with the truck and he listened to us.

KEVIN MI had a reservation for a 15' truck and a tow dolly. When I showed up the morning of, the woman looked at me blankly and said "we don't have tow dollies", and was totally unprepared to help me - I was there to pick up equipment to move across the country! I had to urge her to call the next U-Haul down the road and see if they had any equipment. She was not pleasant, not helpful, and I'm thankful I'll never have to deal with her again.

Robert WService was great! Truck we got was horrible though. Check engine light would randomly come on. Truck had a miss to it. We were traveling across country and had to go slow and alter route to avoid larger mountains. They extended our trip greatly.

KARISSA DTell the guy at the front desk to do his job. I brought my truck back and went to turn the keys in. Asked if I needed to do anything else and as he was watching you tube on his phone he said no you are good. But on my app the truck was not checked in and it would have charged me more money if returned after hours. What a mess.
Michelle VWhen I received the trailer the office people did not hook it up properly luckily I realized it when I stop for gas. The trailer hitch was not connected.

JEANINE BWhen the address for this location, 549 Hamburg Ave Astoria, OR 97103, is put into google maps the directions are incorrect. Sent me down a dead end street that was very difficult to turn around. I know this is not U-Haul fault, but may see about getting this fixed before somebody gets a truck stuck down a dead end street.

Patricia MOverall the auto transporter worked great. Better loading instructions and a winch would make it a much better experience. The ratcheting tire tie downs need lubricant.

JASON LBe able to talk to the center where you rent the actual u-haul. Going through the call center is royal pain in the tushy. I had issues during the pickup and could not even speak to the representative that or the place that I picked it up from.

Rhonda RIt's hard to distinguish between issues in the central office versus our local location, hence the "average" review. The good news was we didn't have our truck improperly returned by staff at this location (resulting in thousands of dollars of fees because they charged us for a trip to TX last time in Tacoma!) and we did not have to drive all over the Seattle metro area to go from location to location at the last minute (as we were packing to move the next day) looking for a truck since they canceled it at the last minute and no one answers the phone and central booking was trying to get us to drive 1.5 hrs to pick up a truck that may or may not be there. Ahhhhhh, memories. But here's our experience this time: there was some confusion when I called to confirm 24 hours before pick up: it was apparently double booked and the one order I had put in was canceled with no notification, so I thought the truck was canceled. Would have been nice to be notified about this problem. The central office then booked trucks at two more locations for me (one at a location that is still a mystery since I didn't return the call from that office) and two different times. Since this seemed highly unreliable, I had to drive down to this original location to find out what happened (since of course no one answered the phone) and I was able to discover that there was a truck in my requested size sitting in the lot, even though the clerk said it was for someone else (what is the name on that reservation, I asked, thinking it might be my partner. He replied: it's not your name. I replied: how do you know it's not me, since I haven't given you my name yet?) Turns out it was me after all, and they had somehow double-booked the truck and only canceled one of the reservations, which was the one on my paperwork. :-/ SO MUCH UNNECESSARY CHAOS, UHAUL. We picked up the truck the next day and the blankets we ordered weren't there, so we had to drive 30 min away to pick them up at another location, and traffic was so bad it made me late for my appointment. This is all on the date of our move, so very inconvenient. The condition of the truck was great and we had no problems with it. Upon our return, given the Texas situation, I asked for a receipt immediately and that was provided with some disdain and mansplaining and the clerk taking the person who arrived after we did -- but whatever. At least it worked out and seemed to be correct. I would consider this a below average experience given the random cancelation and need to fix that at the last minute plus drive to get blankets, AND deal with jaded staff and an overzealous central booking person, but because nothing terrible happened and it's UHaul, I would say it was average. But seriously, UHaul central office -- it's not pandemic times anymore. Get your act together.

Lacey BEverything was great until my storage unit was broken into. I got the unit for a family member who was suddenly moving to this area unexpectedly and was very happy to find that Astoria Storage was the only place around that had unit’s available. If you rent an outside unit …. it’s fair game for anyone to break in as there are no cameras or fencing to prevent anyone from coming in or out.Someone was able to cut the lock on my storage ….. go inside … shut the door back down and have all night to open and go through every box in my storage. The place is clean… the people are nice …. the price for the storage was normal …… the problem is ….. your belongings are not safe. Good Luck !!!

Elizabeth H | Overall ExperienceLighting around the building is needed. Also please look at numbering the actual units. We could not find the unit when we first got it and had to be shown. Guy at that time said "we don't number them due to the tweekers". That made me very iffy on renting from you. I did and had the place almost a year. No issues with my unit. But heard others were broken into. This could easily be changed with better lighting and cameras around. Would also be nice if someone worked on Sundays so renting a U-Haul could be available. With the cost of the units this should be more then doable.
Jennie F | Overall ExperienceNotice of 20% rent increase dated 1/27/22. My rent due on the 4th or 5th of each month. I had not yet received notice of increase on 2/5/22 when I had to drive down there to make a payment because your phone system did not work. Drove to facility to pay $75 rent, only to find out it was $90 per month. Bad business practices. Good riddance!

The young man was very helpful and available to run elevator and unlock doors Was sad to see all the rat urine and rat droppings in the unit when I moved stuff out but other then a few chew marks and it smelled , all in all my stuff was in tact . I hope someone put rat traps out tho others might not take it so lightly . Thank you
