Mobile check-in took far too long - over 20 minutes at the “agent review” stage with zero updates. Why can’t approval be done prior to pickup or standardized?

I scheduled a pickup for a moving truck at 10:30am, and specifically selected clerk check-in because I’ve found U-Haul’s self check-in process to be confusing in the past— but on arrival, there was a sign on the door that said they were out and would be back in 30 mins. We called the phone number on the sign, and the man on the line said he’d be back in 20-30 and accused us of scheduling last minute, which we did not; the reservation was made four days prior. Check-in time was chosen based on a scheduled appointment to pick some things up at 11:00AM, so we stressed this to him, which prompted him to change his estimate return to 10-15 mins. We waited 30 minutes for this man, only for him to call and proceed to walk us through self checkin. He had us open two lock boxes that were empty, and then said he'd upgrade us to a bigger truck with no extra fee, as if he was doing us a favor when we had already been waiting 30 minutes past our scheduled check-in. He still hadn't returned, mind, so I'm wondering why he didn't do this for us in the first place. Thankfully the people waiting on us were understanding, but we were on a time crunch and this setback was beyond frustrating and extremely negligent.

Although Mark was friendly, he arrived 45 minutes late for work the day we wanted to pick up the 15' truck. Additionally, he explained and apologized that he did not setup the Mobile Pickup because he was distracted by a demanding customer the day before. The unit we ended up with could have used a wash, but not bad. It still had a trailer attached to it and we had to point this out so Mark could disconnect. The inside of the cargo box was wide open and had several leaves/debris inside...it had not been swept out. I was surprised to see there was less than half a tank of gas, but I suppose this is not uncommon. The most egregious issue with Mark was he told us we could drop off the unit at any UHaul location in the Chicago area. This was false. During Chicago rush hour traffic, we went to the closest location to our destination only to be told there was no room. The young man was kind enough to change our drop-off to a much larger facility about 30 minutes away, again in Chicago rush hour traffic.

Let us know when the second rental would not be available. We drive 40 minutes to find out that only one of the two rentals would be available for us to rent. As a small business owner, we lost money from this inconvenience. We took our business elsewhere where and rented a vehicle from them.

The owner/person that was to take care of me was horrible and not customer service friendly, rude and didn't have any paperwork for me explain the van or anything. I had no idea on where the receipt was or what the charges would be.

The man who works at this location is so rude. He was inconsiderate of the customers time. He was on the phone with people running his mouth, had people waiting a long time outside while he took his precious time coming back from lunch. After I told him to come on and stop playing with people’s time, I guess it made him mad. So he resulted to yelling at me, he threatened me basically saying he would do something to me. Because “he’s big in the city” whatever that meant. Completely unacceptable. No employee or owner of a business should ever talk to or treat a customer the way he does. I wouldn’t recommend going here if his janky tail still working there. But the truck was great!

I previously gave a review about my experience, however they corrected the error and reimbursed me the money. Troy was pleasant and admitted the error was on their end. I would recommend renting from them and asking for Troy.

Location is in downtown Louisville where most of the homeless populate, and the building itself is on a corner across from a popular gas station so the area can be a bit congested but OVERALL the owner &/or person who runs it (foreign man) is very nice and accommodating. I was supposed to have the truck 2-3 days max and got into an accident the second day renting which put a hold on me moving my house for a couple days. Although I didn't initiate having the truck nearly a week he was extremely understanding, he let me keep the truck until I was finished. He trusted me with his equipment even when we were not in contact. For that and the politeness & professionalism from the African American gentleman who retrieved the truck- I would recommend the location every time. The truck wasnt clean upon pickup so my only recommendation as a customer would be for them to double check them after customers return them. I left it clean and sanitized❤️ Thank you to this location for all the help!

When do I get my deposit back?

I put in a $100 deposit and never got that back. Very unorganized when walking in and almost didn’t not leave with the U-Haul as they said I didn’t have it reserved. I was there for an hour or more

I had booked my rental on -Line and showed it to the manager. He had no record of it or so he says . He gave me a rental that he said would come in about 20 minutes. But just so happened to come in early or it would have been a disaster. Also we only had from 11:30 to 3;00 hot move , thank God for his help and our organization skills , my brother and I. The language the owner used was bad. Unprofessional. I guess he thought everyone in that area was okay with that language.

The u haul employee was late and still charged me for the initial pickup time. I was scheduled to pickup at 8am but the u haul representative didn’t show up until 8:20 which cut into my moving time.

Worn tires on the auto transport. Truck was FILTHY - melted chocolate on the floor - looked like the windshield hadn't been cleaned in weeks - inside of the cargo box was covered in dirt and trash.

I had a 10am pickup appt scheduled and arrived to a sign on the door stating they would return in half an hour. I picked up the truck at 10:29 and was still expected to return it within by scheduled three hour time frame despite picking up half an hour late. Staff being present for scheduled pick up’s would be a huge improvement.

This is an unsafe drop off location with men loitering on the premises and camping out where customers are supposed to leave vehicles. If U-Haul is going to operate under these conditions, customers need to be warned and able to choose a different drop off location.

This place is a reck waiting to happen. The man running the place is a joke. The truck he gave me to go from Louisville Ky. to Ponce De Leon Fl. Was a bouncy, wobbling, Check engine light, broken window, wipper blade needing, body damaged poor excuse for a truck. Plus I was supposed to pick it up in Jeffersonville In but was forced to pick it up in down town Louisville. Fuel was not completely full ether. No paper contract or emergency information at hand. Truely sucks.

Maybe make this a premier site I had scheduled a pickup at a location that was closed and it would have been easier to just have gone here. Your site should use locations that are open as the top suggestion or at least make it so you can’t do location pickups where they have to be done online. Just do better on your website and how people are routed to carriers this has happened too often when I rent a UHaul. It really seems to be something through your website that isn’t working like it should…

Couldn't locate anyone to assist with unhitching or directing to drop off area. Was hard to find a spot to drop the trailer. Someone finally showed up after we dropped trailer and asked if we couldn't have found a better place to leave it and stated that it was in the way. There was not another place to maneuver the trailer in to. Check out/receipt process went fine, so would drop off here again if absolutely necessary, but only because we haul trailers regularly and are experienced with maneuvering, hitching, and dropping.

No one was at the facility for 1.5 hours after we were supposed to pick up and no one would answer the phone. The truck they rented us then broke down and had to towed away. Would not recommend.

Why am I being charged $127 for 15' that I used for 2 hours max. Less than 5 miles. I got there & it was closed. My new ID was not accepted on the app. I had to make a new one resrvation at the U-haul place & it was $50 but you charged me over $127. Smh.

No space to park the trailer. Only one spot available at a 45 degree angle, so we had to pull back out of the one-way drive. The lot isn’t level and they don’t have wheel blocks unless you specifically go inside to ask. Staff not all that helpful

Inside of facility very p[oor on presentation. The owner/manager that rented to me tried to tell me that they didnt have the truck I reserved. He tried to charge me more for a bigger truck. There were three of them on the lot. He finally agreed. At rental return, I dropped the truck at 6PM same day. Had it three hours. Placed four miles on it and put two gallons of fuel in it. He charged me for 3 gallons of fuel and said he does not make money on fuel. There is no way this truck used 5 gallons of fuel for 4 miles of usage. He is dishonest. Told me the truck was back out and there is nothing he can do about it. This is as dishonest as you can get. I expect a call from U-Haul and an adjustment to my invoice. This is scamming the customer.
