The vehicle was filthy on the inside. Had to clean windshield on the inside before leaving on our trip. Seats need to be vacuumed and cleaned. Warning light that an oil change was required was on the entire trip. Rear view mirror was broken and flopped around. I would expect a vehicle with only 8500 miles to be in better condition. These rentals should be better checked before given to the next customer.Dan H.

U-Haul - Big rip off! Advertise $19.95 for a 10' truck but never mention this fee, that fee, this fee. So a $19.95 rental ends up costing more than double that price. Never again.John A.

Sell the place to different buyers! Get rid of the owners! They don't remember their own schedule and will charge you for it! They will even try to charge you two days instead of the extra day that you asked, especially if you blatantly ask for 24 hours extra (which is what a day is to the normal person, who asks for the extra day) (they will sneak 6 hours as the day instead).Juan R.
There are two UHaul locations near me, and I unfortunately had to go to the further locations which is much less accessible. Also my truck was not clean, there were several items left in the truck, such as Tupperware and gloves.Sarah S.

Not having the office open until 9am seems like a problem. I used the online system to verify who I was and it was a huge hassle. Between pictures being too blurry for the serviceperson and my wife not answering the phone from an unknown number when they called her to verify my secondary contact, it took 45 minutes of me on the uhaul live chat site. It's a nice idea, just not a good execution of the technology.Andrew D.

Hi team U-Haul, I am writing to register a complaint about my recent U-Haul experience. I had booked a U-Haul 9 Feet Cargo Van for a one-way trip to Havertown from Bethlehem with a pickup location walkable from my apartment (at RJ's Mini Market, Bethlehem). When I visited RJ's mini market for pick-up at the pick-up time, I was told my U-Haul was actually booked at Whitehall U-Haul which was a 5 miles ride away from home. I was also told that they had booked a truck instead of a van which was contrary to my reservation confirmation. This caused a major inconvenience for me on the day of the move as I had to make last minute changes to my plans on top of an already unsupportive weather. There is a reservation guarantee from U-Haul. Wondering how would you honor it in this situation?Nalin D.

I would have given a higher rating for the overall experience but even after using my phone for earlier and faster check-in, the van that was scheduled for me had no key available and I spent just as much time waiting for all of the changes and new contracts to be made up that there was no time savings. The hole," keep all the keys in a combination lock box" doesn't work well if the last customer doesn't put the key where it belongs.alan P.

I reserved a truck over the phone early in the week for Sat. Dec. 2. The truck had to be re-reserved for some reason and the woman taking the reservation was new or didn't know what she was doing. It was a terrible experience. An hour and a half later we were able to start our move. Really poor customer service.joann M.
We ran into rush hour traffic on the way to take the uhaul back, and the place closes at five. I tried calling three times to a busy line, and when I finally got ahold of someone they said they would wait around for a few minutes after closing. We got there at 5:05 and he was gone. My mom, who was driving separately, got there a little before five and he had already left. He said if we didn't make it there on time we would have to pay for another day. It just seemed to me like he wanted to get extra money out of us, so he left early so we would have to pay for the extra day.Sarah F.

DO NOT OVERBOOK (see United Airlines). Final location was great. UHaul... not so much. My original reservation for Bath, PA was moved 15 miles away and to a larger truck (meaning more miles and more gas) in Allentown. Upon reaching Allentown I received a call that the truck was no longer available, but a new one was available back in... Bath (at a different dealer even though Allentown was the "closest alternative" to the original reservation in Bath), so I went there only to find that dealership closed. U-Haul then sends me back to... Allentown. I would have cancelled the reservation but UHaul already charged me without providing what was promised. I understand UHaul cannot control their vendors, but it CAN control its reservation process. Final pick up place (1090 MacArthur Ave) was pleasant and conciliatory for matters beyond their control. UHaul office in Wilkes Barre informed me there will be a $50 refund pending (which will not offset the movers I had waiting for an hour+ while I played follow the possible reservation). Guess I'll wait and see if that happens.Jeff W.

Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever encountered. I received zero information about returning the truck. I cleaned the truck (in better shape than i received it) and filled the tank of gas with more gas than when i took it off the lot.There wasn't any type of drop off box so I locked the keys in the truck only to find out the next day that I would be charged an additional $50 for this. The woman working that day (friday) told me that as long as I returned the truck by the time they opened on Monday morning I would not be charged any additional time since it was the weekend and they would be closed. In addition to 2 unexpected and unethical charges the young man that contacted me about the charges was extremely arrogant and rude. If you are the type of customer (as am I) who doesn't appreciate unexpected charges and extremely poor customer service I would highly recommend another location and am very very very disappointed and dissatisfied with this service.Sean M.

The van I rented got very poor gas mileage. In light of spending $28 to refill the tank so that it was at the same level as when I took it mileage fee should be waived. Otherwise, it was an excellent experience the staff I interacted with was very friendly and efficient, and the vehicle was exactly what I needed despite the poor mileage.chris Y.

The floor on the inside of the truck was very dirty and I had to sweep it out before I was able to load my furniture. I have rented from U-Haul 7 other times in the last 6 months and this is the first time I experienced this issue. Not sure if the truck was fully checked from the prior user.KEVIN D.

I had to wait 30 min before I was able to leave. I was supposed to have it for 12 hours, and was informed that I only was allowed to have it it for 6. Overall I was not happy with the equipment or service. the next time i need a truck it will not be from uhaul.mike F.

additional items rented not already in truck... blankets - furniture mover, fridge/stove mover/dolly.... Got to my destination and had to come back to location (35 miles) just to get the items that were not included in the truck... Plus it took almost 4 hours to finally locate the truck. Started at one location - they gave the truck out. went to another location 15 miles away that the first location told us to go to, and they said we don't have a truck, took another long time to finally find out where there was a truck. When we got to this location above it was finally there.... Started at 12:30 to pick up truck - at 5:30 - we finally were able to start loading the truck - Spent over 100 miles in my personal car tracking down the rental truck and the equipment we rented. Should be reinbursed for expenses...... Not a good start.TERRY L.
