Old man working there was a jerk and condescending. He became irate when another customer put their mask on and claimed that the masks were useless and clearly attempting to make a political statement. It took me an hour to check out my u-haul it was clear he was attempting to give me poor service on the basis I also had a mask on. I arrived at 9:00am on the dot to return my u-haul the following day only to have to wait 15 minutes for someone to arrive late and accept my return. Extremely poor customer service, and terribly unprofessional establishment. Do not recommend.

The old man was not wearing a mask and his comment upset me that he need a 2nd phone number because he thought I was gonna fleed to Mexico with the uhaul truck. He said I was gonna get charge $30 if I didn't bring the truck rental back with the same gas so I brought it back with one quarter more of half tank and he didn't even discounted me that on my final statement and coded me half tank received. Everything else was ok but the customer service was not good

I was charged an extra day for a 2 day rental. I rented the truck for one day, called in the morning before my drop off time to extend one more day, the lady had no problem doing that and told me to have it in by 12, not the time I picked up the truck (1 hour after pickup/dropoff time) she never said she was gonna charge me a 3rd day, had i known that I would have kept the truck for a total of 3 days. Then speaking with them, they just referred me to customer service instead of fixing the problem. Of course I'm finding all this out after I had completely filled the tank for them, which I did not have to do, as my contract said 3/4 tank. They were very friendly during pick up and drop off, but do not just let them email your receipt, check with them before you leave.

It took every bit of strength to open the rear door, which came crashing down on me after the cables on both sides failed. I was able to get out of the way and grab the door, but in doing so, slightly strained both wrist. My wife and I took the truck to Uhaul off the 91 freeway, Riverside, to see if they could open or fix the failed cables but they said only roadside assistance could repair it. We need our belonging so I took the chance to our destination after spending 2-3 hours trying to pry the door open. I managed but I decided to return the truck out of fear the door might collapse on my wife or myself. I tried to rent a different vehicle after taking back to Clay Street Uhaul, where VON, the agent saw the cables hanging from the truck. He apologized and told us he couldn't do anything but to call customer service. It was a very tiring, unsafe and inconvenient experience! I would love to have at least a partial reimbursement since I have to rent another truck to finish our move. Regretfully, Johnny Mayer

I was 15 minutes late, and i got an extra $40 charge. When i rented the truck it was 145 pm and i had a very pleasant experience, i arrived at 150pm today, and had to wait 10 minutes for your staff member, who was very rude from the start.

Charles was kind at first when he gave us the Uhaul but when we brought it back he said it's a $25 charge for cleaning it but he charged me $44 for supposedly not bringing it back with enough gas so I need my refund

Absolutely great guy (Von). Super nice and went the extra mile. Absolutely GREAT customer service!!!!!!! He came thru in pinch that U haul on Van Buren and 91 freeway totally has nooooooo customer service from outside to the front counter to not ever even calling me about being DOUBLE BOOKED. Also 91 Uhaul that I called and spoke to the manager 11-15-2019 @ 4:10 pm and ask to help me out so I could drop the auto transport there and if they could deliver to Von for me BECAUSE NO ONE told me he closes at 5:30 pm. And I wasn't going to make it. I ask the MANAGER to call him to work this all out. NOPE that never happened. Von's Great attitude and being able to go the extra mile means a HUGE customer service PLUS and he should be in my opinion called from a higher up within U haul corporate and Congratulated. Just my opinion being with Mercedes-Benz for 30 years. Austin Gossard

The location of and staff at Clay St where excellent. However I will never use U-haul again. I reserved the truck more than 30 days in advance at the location closest to me. I received a call at 6:30 pm the day before my pick up telling me they did not have the truck and I had to drive an hour away to get it. I have had a terrible experience 100% of the times I have used U-haul with equipment not being ready/available even with a reservation. Equipment breaking down in transit, and the overall dishonest process of waiting untill it is to late to get equipment from another source to notify customers it is not available. I have used Penske over 30 times and have never once had any problem what so ever. All 10 times I have used U-haul it was a terrible experience. I will never use U-haul again. Fix your terrible and dishonest corporate business practices.

They representative at this location lied about the costs for fuel. Had I known that the charges was going be more expensive then what was told to me, I would have kept the vehicle since it was now due back until the next morning really bad experience.

Just to be a bit faster, cause i spend long time to pick up my equipment. Also did my reservation by phone and the lady on the phone gives people wrong information. There was 3 people like me with wrong information.
