Trailer was a disaster. I should not have taken it because the doors would not latch properly. Then, in the middle of my trip there was a large rainstorm and when I started unpacking the next day leaks in the front of the trailer left and the bottom boxes in two rows very damp. We had to turn the boxes upside down to carry them as the cardboard was mushy. Fortunately the damage to contents was limited. The staff in Charlottesville told me about the deficient latch and how to close the doors, but the leak was the big problem.This is the first time U=Haul has ever disappointed me in the type of equipment they rent.

MARY FThe online after hours return experience requires a LOT of effort by the client. Demanding a photo of the dashboard for mileage and fuel level is not appropriate when the info can be easily entered manually. Also, the number of photos of the returned equipment is excessive. This isn’t an insurance claim. It’s an equipment return.

carolyn jStore excellent and vehicle clean. However has an awful shake as if it will stall at any moment. Also U -haul pricing is HORRIBLE! Better to rent a truck from Enterprise Rental!

Robert DHave a truck available at time Dispatch reservation is made, I was lucky to even get a truck, with a reservation, drove 2 hours to pick up truck, no truck, 3 hours later and me making multiple phone calls to dispatch only made it happen, I was basically an unpaid U-Haul employee for half the day, extremely stressed out, so this location was good, U-Haul policy is dreadful

Harif SThis is the best location in town but every time I walk in, they inform me U-Haul's reservation systems are down. Two associates have to take their personal phones out to use the U-Haul app or website which sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. Frankly, it's bullshit that we could rent trucks just fine before technology and now that technology is involved, it takes 10 times as long to get checked out because the systems are always failing. U-Haul needs to update their systems so your franchisees and locations can do their jobs properly and if U-Haul can't get their technology figured out, have a backup plan so your customer's time isn't being wasted. We have places to go, people waiting on us, things that need to be picked up, things that need to be delivered and U-Haul isn't making anything any easier on us. TECHNOLOGY TO THE RESCUE. C'mon. Get it figured out, please!!! I almost had to talk away without a truck because of this and that would have put a TON of stress on my plans and efforts. It would have ruined my day to not have a truck.

debra hCrack in the windshield. The photos-before-you-leave system they use was difficult to figure out as it is built for one kind of browser on one kind of phone, neither of which I use. Several people who came in after me also were told reservations they made were being cancelled because of overbooking.

Emily SThe check out and check in process was time consuming, inefficient and difficult. Had to upload photo's multiple times and had to restart the application multiple times. You have shifted tasking to the consumer with the process, and it is not appreciated.

Joel BOil level was low (17%) and got down to 11% by end of trip. Would have been nice (for peace of mind) if it had been topped off. Tank was at 7/8. Had it been full, i could have made it to destination without stopping/refueling.
Albert MAt time of rental have attendant to remind the renter that they will be receiving a text message about UHaul photos made, especially if 65 years of age or older. I was not informed and read message three days later.
Roger J10 miles into my trip the oil light appeared. I was close to another U-Haul dealership and stopped to have them look at it. They added 3 quarts of oil and called for U-Haul service to look over the truck. They came 35 minutes later, assessed the engine. They drove off to an auto store, came back and added fluid. All this caused a two hour delay, which meant I could not reach my pre-paid hotel. I was very frustrated.

Every time I went to check on things or to get something or to put something in my unit after a relative's estate finally closed, the facility was easy to access while being secure, clean, and well-lit. Most importantly, the staff were always friendly, knowledgeable, more than willing to go the extra mile to help, and a joy to work with. I'm sure there are other facilities that are newer and more attractive, but I doubt if there is a better staff anywhere. I'm beyond grateful I had such peace of mind while going through a longer than expected period of transition. The staff made all the difference.
