Excellent from the ease of booking on the app, to communication with the location, to pick up (we arrived early and they accommodated). Friendly service. The vehicle was clean and well taken care of. Drop off was a breeze (key in the mail slot). One of the best U-haul experiences I've had. Thanks!

I will never use this U-Haul location again. I may never use U-Haul again (at any location) if the credit card dispute I've filed doesn't result in a partial refund. I booked my reservation for a cargo van online, and rejected ALL extra options that were presented to me. When I went to the U-Haul location in question (Cronin Glass on Renfrew Street), the proprietor was very evasive when I asked him about the procedure for returning the vehicle the next day. He kept repeating something about putting "the key through the mail slot". This made no sense, as the van was due back at 10:00 AM on a Thursday morning, and the posted hours stated the location was open at 9:00 AM. Anyway, the proprietor is a man of few words (yes, he speaks English just fine) and wouldn't explain why he was telling me to use the mail slot for the key when returning the vehicle. I arrived the next day at 9:30 AM to return the van, and the place was locked up tight with no sign of the proprietor. There was a young fellow standing out front, who had been waiting since 9:00 AM for a van he had reserved for 9:00 AM. I tried calling the phone number posted on the front door of the building, but all that accomplished was getting a recording which stated that no calls were being accepted. I checked the rear of the building (where all the vehicles are stored), and no one was back there either. After shooting a video of the odometer and of the inside and outside of the returned van, I waited a half hour until 10:00 AM. The proprietor never showed up. So I put the key through the mail slot and walked home. The young fella who had been waiting an hour for his reserved van also decided to leave... with no van of course. What kind of way is this to run an operation? When I arrived home, an email was waiting for me (sent at 10:02 AM) with a link to my bill. I noticed that an added fee for CDW (Collision Damage Waiver) coverage had been added to my bill, even though I had rejected the need for it when I had originally booked the reservation online (as I have coverage for rental vehicles through my own auto insurance). There was an email address provided by U-Haul if I had any "questions or concerns" regarding the bill. I sent not one but two emails to U-Haul over the next two days. There was no response to either email. Included in my emails was a screen grab of the U-Haul site when I had booked the van online. It showed that I had turned down all the optional stuff, and the total estimated fee was clearly displayed. The U-Haul bill remained as a "Pending" transaction for two days at my credit card site. When the transaction was eventually "Posted", I immediately filed a dispute with my credit card company. I was informed that it could take up to 90 days to be resolved! The difference between what I was charged and what I was supposed to be billed isn't a large amount... but this is no way to be treating customers and/or doing business. I'll need to be renting vehicles several more times over the course of the summer. It definitely won't be from this location, and now probably won't be from U-Haul at all.

I want to bring to your attention a serious issue I encountered during my recent experience with your company. The gentleman at the reception desk, who provided and later received the truck, displayed discriminatory behavior. I observed him treating non-Canadian customers in a dismissive and rude manner. Specifically, I saw him shaking hands roughly and aggressively while speaking to an Indian lady and gentleman. Additionally, he was unprofessional and aggressive towards me and another customer of Chinese descent. This kind of behavior is unacceptable and does not reflect the values of respect and equality that your company should uphold. I hope U-Haul takes this matter seriously and ensures appropriate action is taken to prevent such incidents in the future. Thanks, Alireza

The representative that works at the place is extremely rude and aggressive for no reason towards his customers. When giving us the truck, he very vaguely brushed over the details of the return and charged me a $240 deposit by putting a 100km estimated distance. Then when I proceed to ask why he dismissed me and asked me to go quickly. Once I returned the U-Haul and with only 25miles in, I asked him very simply, as a normal customer would: “when can I expect the final receipt and what time will the hold for the deposit will be released?” Instead of answering my questions, he aggressively dismissed me and said “whenever I’m done, you’ll get it whenever I’m done, go now! Go why are you still here?!’ I went to the office and waited for him there and he never showed up from the parking place, so I called him again to ask the same question and I was again met with a rude attitude and hung up on me. Later he messaged me again and told me that I could’ve just checked out myself but because I lack the intellect, that’s why I’m bothering him?! Who wants to tell him that it’s his job to answer customer queries? Never visiting this location ever again. My hold has still not released!!

U-HAUL service is poor. you change my pickup location without any notice. People told me that 2 other guys went to the location and u-haul change it without notice. Disrespectful service. A comment for the location: the contract states to pickup the truck with full tank of gas and return it filled. I took it almost 1/4 of the tank and it was very bad to return it in the same conditions of gas. I spent time on the gas station trying to fill at the same spot that I took the car. I hope next time they give the car full tank to the customer, avoid this type of anoying

Walked a few blocks to where the truck was parked, only to find out it was the wrong truck. Be aware that the owner has a sarcastic sense of humour. It was fine with me, but some might not find it comfortable.

I picked up my 10' truck on Sunday, March 31st. The representative was unhelpful and did not explain that I needed to use the link he sent to check and take photos before leaving. By the time I realized this, the link had expired. I immediately called him to request a new link, but he was rude and did not resend it. When I followed up again, he yelled at me, saying, "What? I sent it already!" before hanging up and refusing to answer any further calls. I then contacted U-Haul customer service, and the representative was very kind and promptly sent me the correct link. I do not recommend picking up a rental from this location. The staff I interacted with was rude, unprofessional, and lacked basic customer service skills.

The staff is not friendly at all. We came after 4:30 pm, which was probably after the time the store was closed, and met the old guy at the back where we returned the truck. I told him about how the link to verify the equipment condition expired and I couldn’t upload any pictures, and he just told me “it’s ok I’m closed now I don’t care” and turned around and left. RUDE! Not friendly at all, it is a location that has a lot of trucks but I wouldn’t go back just because the service they gave me. I also couldn’t do the mobile pick up so I had to do it with him, and he charged for the coverage, which I guess is the insurance coverage that costs $16. We were going to very short distances so we didn’t need it and didn’t ask for it in the reservation.

The entire experience was horrible. The owner was half an hour late to helping us with our reservation, which effectively made us late to drop off the Uhaul, the Uhaul had clearly not been cleaned out because we found a syringe. Once we notified the owner, he told me to grab a broom and clean it out myself and when I told him there was a dolly left in the truck as well that’s when he agreed to come take a look. When he saw the syringe, he told me “this isn’t what I would call a needle” The truck had all the dash warning lights on, and the location smelled strongly of weed. Dealing with the owner of the location was honestly the worst part of the experience. I wouldn’t recommend this location to my worst enemy.

The person who runs this store (Frederic Croning) is very aggressive and intimidating. Unfortunately, I had a very unpleasant situation with him where he called me on the phone screaming; this was due to the poor service I received from the beginning when I rented the vehicle and on the other hand, he exaggerated the situation. Then he told me that, he was going to charge me for towing and keys, but for arbitrary personal reasons, he ended up charging me for cleaning as personal revenge because I reported him. This means that the initial situation for which the inconvenience occurred disappeared, even though he made this FALSE charge against me. Be careful, this person doesn't have professional conduct practices as a U-haul franchisee requires.
