These Roads in my area are rocky& very bumpy So trying to pick up free furniture for a senior in need.you can't drive speed limit you have to drive slow .so items with glass doesn't break.then Charged on credit card more money when in town bad road conditions.so I called the hotel said I was needing til 1:00.and front desk lady said it would be fine to come in at 1.that I call uhaul customer service &had 60 mins wait time so I hung..very disappointed & ripped off my money.I was told I was gonna be charged another $100 almost.and fill truck back up.disappointed.Vanessa T.

When returning our rental, it was at a local Econo Lodge. The person inside was an employee of Econo Lodge only and said there were no Uhaul employees there on the weekends. Told us to take a picture of the gas gage and mileage. She would not address the 2 dollys we were rented but never given. Will never use Uhaul again.Franklin C.

The staff here were well mannered, but I feel they did not have the experience to understand what a person needs. 1. Time is valuable. I was already on a compressed schedule with my move when I arrived. I rented my truck on the 7th and clearly told them I would be leaving on the 10th for a 3200 mile trip. I was issued a 2007 in town rental for a cross country journey. I spent almost 4 hours recording the damages to the truck before I left the lot, and when asked to switch trucks because the cab smelled heavy of cigarettes and smoke (plus I didn't want the truck) I was given a deodorizer spray and asked to use it. I spent valuable time protecting my self from a poor investment in this rental truck when I could have been packing my house. 2. Right equipment for the job. Issuing the correct equipment for the job is important. I wasted 3 days during my travels due to the 2007 Uhaul I was given. The older model was not fit for cross country travel which I wasn't able to realize till it was packed and I was 200 miles down the road. Additionally, later I found that this was supposed to be a in town rental only and not a cross country one way rental. So the staff either did not read the contract info, listen to my needs, or they did not know enough to properly issue the correct truck. 3. Vehicle maintenance. I can tell that the maintenance was limited to "check in the box" it's done. The Uhual showed various signs on the exterior such as impact damage, stripping ect... which indicated it was hard to drive. The 2007 Uhaul had the following problems: - Hard Pull to the right - Small Dead zone in steering - Engine was consuming oil - Loss of engine power randomly going up minor hills - Turning right was slow to respond compared to left. - Required constant Left counter steering to go straight. When you combine several of those problems with highway driving you set your self up for some dangerous situations. In the 2 days I drove the Uhaul I was pushed off the road by passing Semi trucks due to aerodynamic force and because I could counter steering with all the problems during certain road situations. Almost all of the issues with this truck could have been easily identified by doing a short test drive of the vehicle when the maintenance was performed. Summary. This was a complex series of failures that were all avoidable. Ultimately the vehicle failed during the road trip and I was stuck 2 days trying to switch to a new vehicle. I was provided a new truck and auto transport which worked perfectly. The car transport I was originally issued had faulty wiring which caused the left light to stop working.Vernon R.

The ladies were very friendly & helpful. Unfortunately being a person that tows a lot of things but has never hooked up a trailer like this one alone, wasn't so easy. Thankfully I finally got ahold of a friend to come help. On the interstate, apparently the lights stopped working due to the connection which was taken off another trailer there because mine didn't have one & I only had 1 brake light and 1 turn signal light.Danielle B.

I dropped off on Easter Sunday, no one was there to check in with, except the Econo Lodge front desk, very nice lady. However, I did not read the instructions for drop off before handing over the keys, very nice lady to give back the keys so that I could do the necessary pictures and record all the needed information. After verifying that the tow dolly was compatible with the vehicle that needed towing, via the Uhaul website; I was unable to use the rented dolly. Due to the fenders on the tow dolly, the tow dolly was to narrow to load the vehicle it was rented for. Also... The passenger side turn signal did not function.William V.
This was my first and last time using Uhaul. It was one of the most horrible experiences ever. The first Uhaul's check engine light came on. The replacement Uhaul was filthy and did not drive smooth. The ladies at Uhaul Econo Lodge were rude. Never again.Brittany S.

I used the online check in process and it did not include a step to check for the equipment that you added to your purchase so I didn't realize that the dolly and furniture pads I paid for and requested were not in the truck. Therefore, I did not receive them at all.Natalie S.

The Econo Lodge personnel were very accommodating and helpful as our pick-up was after 3 p.m. He processed our reservation with respect and cheerfulness. I had trouble with the equipment hitch; the ball cam was reversed and the bolt threads were dirty thus making turning the wedge operation difficult. Trailer was dirty.Charles F.

The male owner of this hotel is a complete ass. On a number of occasions he has been 100% rude. Not only to customers but to his staff. Said he has nothing to do with uhaul so don't ask him any questions. IF Uhaul cares about their customers they will either get rid of this guy or put him in his place.george B.

The woman at the rental counter/motel check in desk, Cathy, was rude and condescending. I picked up my rental and after loading it from 2 seperate locations, headed out on the interstate for my 6+ hour drive to my destination. Immediately upon driving at interstate speeds (60-65 mph) both my passenger and myself noticed extreme heat pouring out from around the boot (under the center console and cup holders). This heat was so intense that my mother-in-law actual ended up with blisters on the foot nearest to the boot. I immediately pulled over and helped get my mither-in-law's legs and feet into a position that kept as much heat as possible off of them. I was able to make it to the next exit (where the pickup location was) at 45 mph. I returned to the counter where I rented the U-haul and explained the situation to Cathy. She informed me that she could cancel my reservation but I would still be charged for the day and that there wasn't anything else she could do. I promptly called the national call center and was told this was not the case and that they would handle getting me another rental. Unfortunately, the only other rental that was available was yet another aging U-haul that was bigger than I needed (which equals more fuel cost that I did not have to spend) as well causing a two hour delay to being able to get on the road as I had to move everything out of the first U-haul into the second without any help. Upon returning the U-haul to the planned drop-off location, I was informed that my return location had been changed (with no notice to me) to a town that was another 15 miles (and 25 minutes) away. The lady at the drop-off location managed to change my drop off a second time to a location closer to her but was still a major inconvenience.Kyra R.

Made a one way reservation to Orlando, FL for a 4x8 trailer 3 wks prior to pickup. 2 days before I was notified the 4x8 trailer was not available but has a 5x8 trailer for the same price. The day before pickup i checked the reservation and it showed one way to Columbus, GA. I called customer service (on hold for 30 mins) and explained the reservation and changes. They told me it showed Orlando but mine showed Columbus. When I made the pickup I was in the system for 2 rentals, a 4x8 and 5x8 trailer to different locations. I explained to them what I reserved and what Uhaul did and said. The pickup location had to cl Uhaul to correct the reservation and the CSR had a hard time changing the drop off location. This all took about 15 mins and I ready checked in online twice. I told Uhaul customer service I was concerned this was going to happen but I was told everything was good. Well, it was not. I also had to locate the trailer, hook it up and verify lights were working. Luckily I knew what I was doing but what about other customers who do not or are physically unable to hook up?Michael C.

The only thing was that the statement for gas was off by a quarter of a tank and they didn't charge that. I did sign off on the milage because I was in a hurry and then I got a 20.00 change for gas at the end. My fault for not getting them to change gas at pickup.Ray B.

First, this was not the location I reserved the truck from. I had to go way out of my way to secure the vehicle. Then I found out the size I had reserved wasn't even available. Thankfully a customer returned the size I wanted so after an hour wait I was able to get home to start loading.Joe L.
