Jose lDear U-Haul Customer Service, I am requesting a review of my rental on June 28, 2026, Contract #74546184. There were several issues during this rental that I believe resulted in unfair charges. Although my contract shows a pickup time of 2:37 p.m., I did not actually leave with the truck at that time. My phone records show that my call to the U-Haul location ended at 2:38 p.m., and I was still at the location trying to obtain the key and complete the rental. The employee was not on the property when I arrived, and I had difficulty accessing the lockbox. When I called for assistance, I was told that if I could not get the key, that was “not my problem.” The delay was completely outside of my control. While I had the truck, I called the location again because I had questions about returning it. The employee told me he was too busy to speak with me and asked me to hold. After waiting, I called back, but my call went to voicemail. I was unable to get any assistance. When I returned the truck, the employee was again not at the location. I had been instructed to place the key in the drop box, so I believed that was the proper return procedure. At no time did anyone tell me that the location closed at 5:00 p.m. or that returning the truck at 6:00 p.m. would result in a second rental period and a second SafeMove charge. Had I been told that, I would have made every effort to return the truck before that time. My original estimate showed: ● Rental Charge: $19.95 ● SafeMove Coverage: $25.00 ● Mileage: $1.19 per mile There was nothing in the Rental Charge section indicating that the rental charge would increase to $39.90. Likewise, there was nothing indicating that the SafeMove coverage would double from $25.00 to $50.00. I drove only 35 miles, which was well under the 50 miles used in the estimate, and I filled the truck with gas before returning it. After reviewing my paperwork, I also discovered that a signature appears on the rental agreement above my printed name. I did not sign the agreement, nor did I authorize anyone to sign my name. Because I was unable to use the U-Haul app due to my phone having recently been compromised, the employee told me he would complete the paperwork manually. I respectfully request that U-Haul review this rental, refund the additional $19.95 rental charge and the additional $25.00 SafeMove charge, and investigate why a signature appears on my agreement that I did not provide. James MFirst of all, I was on a limited time, I set the pick up time for 7 AM. I arrived at 7:06 and nobody was around the key box didn’t have the key to my truck. I called the office number and finally somebody call me back around 8:45. I finally got the truck at approximately 9:30 2 1/2 hours.past my scheduled time. Truck was supposed to have half tank of fuel, it had under half a tank. I would not recommend this place.
