I would like to share my experience with a recent truck pickup reservation, which was extremely frustrating and unprofessional. My reservation was scheduled for 9:30 AM. Before arriving, I attempted to use the U-Haul app to complete the pickup process, but the website/app would not work properly. When I arrived at the location, the employee informed me that the system was running very slowly and that there was another customer ahead of me. He estimated it would take about 15 minutes. Unfortunately, the system eventually crashed completely. After waiting approximately 30 minutes, I politely asked the employee if there was anything he could do to help or provide an update. His response was simply, “Nope.” There was no explanation, no effort to assist, and no communication about what was happening. When the system crashed, the employee came outside visibly irritated. I explained that I was the one losing valuable time and that simply saying “nope” without offering any information or assistance was not professional or helpful. Rather than addressing the concern, he went back inside, locked the door, and stopped communicating with customers. As a result, customers arriving at the location were left confused. Several people pulled up and had no idea what was happening because the office appeared closed. They eventually had to go through the neighboring gun store to access the U-Haul office, where the employee had apparently gone. While waiting, I also overheard a significant amount of profanity and unprofessional conversation between the employee and another customer. After repeatedly trying the online process on my own for nearly an hour, the website finally worked and I was eventually able to obtain my truck. My reservation was for 9:30 AM, but I did not leave the location until approximately 10:30 AM. I understand that technical issues happen and that system outages are often outside an employee’s control. However, customer service, communication, and professionalism are completely within an employee’s control. Had the employee communicated clearly, provided updates, and treated customers respectfully, this experience would have been far less frustrating. I hope U-Haul reviews this situation and addresses both the technical issues and the customer service concerns at this location. My biggest disappointment was not the system failure itself, but the lack of professionalism and communication during the delay.

We stopped by this location first since it was the closest, but knew we could not return the truck by Sunday's closing hours. We do not regret our decision at all.
