Firstly, maintain the equipment! Tires! One tire needed air. Probably air leak. The other 3 tires were way over max psi. Max psi is 65. tires were at 74psi!! The location is tight, trailers need to be located in a spot that is easier to move in and out of. I understand its a small location, but should be managed better.

This review is about U-haul policies and not the locations, at the location they were great. I reserved a trailer to pick up from a downtown Calgary location 6 days in advance and in their app it said available and your reservation is guaranteed. 24 hours before my trip they call and say we don't have a trailer at that location and send 1 hour away, so it cost an extra 2 hours and I had to change all my plans and be late because u-haul decided to call 24 hours prior and the people who call do not offer any kind of help. And when I try to express my dissatisfaction they say sorry but we can't do anything. We'll I will never use U-haul ever again.

Letting the customer know they need a jack would have been helpful. As a woman who weights 116lbs it was not easy to lift off the hitch to load, as I could not load it with my truck attached.

Everything was amazing!! My only thing I would like to see is a jack ( stand) on the trailer. My husband had to remove it while still loaded and it was a back breaker

Box of the truck was FULL of gravel and giant wood splinters. A whole giant stick was just left in the box as well. The cab was FULL of peanut shells on the seats and floor. Before we hit the mountain passes we had the check engine light come on after confirming that oil was in the truck BEFORE leaving the pickup location. Checked the dip stick and no oil on it. Put 4L of oil in it and finally oil was on the dipstick. Ended up adding a total of 5L of oil to the truck so it could be road worthy. We could’ve died on the mountain passes had the truck broke down because there was no safe spots to pull over on those passes and absolutely no cell service on them either. Getting a refund has also been tough and I still haven’t made it to someone “authorized to issue refunds”. AWFUL EXPERIENCE. I work to maintain these vehicles in BC and just the blatant repeated neglect of the vehicle was reprehensible. FOUR LITRES OF OIL TO FINALLY REGISTER ON THE DIPSTICK??? That’s insane. That truck shouldn’t have even been able to leave the lot and could’ve put our lives in danger. Absolutely appalling of U-Haul to even have the gall to issue us that vehicle. I just thank god that we didn’t enter those mountain passes before WE figured out the issue and had the ability to buy oil before it completely blew the engine. I couldn’t be more unhappy with this pick up.

Will be the last time I rent a uhaul. Having to travel 1hr outside the city to get a vehicle with 24 hrs notice is utter disgraceful. Wasted a tone of moving time last minute. Then I get the truck. Contract says it’s full but it’s 3/4!!! I mention to attendant who’s sitting in his bloody pajamas at the till it’s ok. So I had to take a picture to cover my ass.

Was promised a trl to be picked up as per booked. Less than 24 hours before pick up it was canceled due to repairs. Or was it rented for more money. Drove 1 hour further for a smaller trailer which was way less than convienate. You decide if this a good customer experience? Paying extra charges to be returned to your preference. You rate this service

The ckerj did not know how to change the credit card on file and charged the wrong one , as well the u-haul inside of hte back waas full of rocks and dirt that i had to sweep out so i would not get charged for it when i dropped it off . not impressed at all

I reserved a truck in Calgary, and was told the DAY BEFORE my move (generally the crux of one's moving stress) that I would have to go to Black Diamond, 70km out of my way to pickup the truck that I had reserved. Once I arrived to pickup the truck, I was informed that the auxiliary equipment that I had also reserved (dollies, moving blankets etc) were not available. These factors would ordinarily have me give the lowest possible score, but the fellow who worked at this particular Fas Gas location worked double time getting me checked-in and on my way. Therefore, Uhaul gets zero and the specific location (even though it wasn't the one I wanted) gets 5, for the rockstar employee = average score.

The location did not have the blankets, dolly or furniture that we had rented with the truck. I has to call the divisional office, and they never called back, so I had to track them down on my own. We had to go to another location in Calgary to get them. I had heard about poor service generally, so good thing that I checked and I had a friend who could make the trip to pick them up. This is really unacceptable. This reflects very poorly on the uHaul business. I blame uHaul as much as the location for not having what I ordered, not sure where the problem really lies

I had to travel outside of Calgary to get my rental which was irritating and time consuming. Return location was complicated as again went to a different city than originally planned. App would only allow me to take 1 picture till it froze so could only send 1 picture in. Location was clear so drop off easy. Wish app worked better. Wish I didn’t have to delay trip as had to go to another town to pick it up. Trailer could use a crank for loading onto vehicle

Pick up was to be 520 Meridian RD NE Calgary. Husband arrived and needed to pick up extra part for hitch at Canadian Tire so had to leave. He told agent he would be back. When he returned the agent told him his reservation had been cancelled and he no longer had the trailer for him. I had to than call schedule office to find trailer which ended up being in Black Diamond. 1 and1/2hour from Calgary which delayed our move and movers we had set up. Agent at Black Diamond kept us 1 hour while he served other customers and tried to work the computer for our reservation. Extremely disappointed in UHaul. Customer Service is terrible.

Truck must have been previously used for shipping trees, shrubs, etc. Inside box was dirty with small branches, dirt, leaves. The Black Diamond location is excellent and staff at Fas Gas helpful.

U haul was unable to accommodate my in town pick up location. Had to travel 18 kms one way to pick up the vehicle and 18 kms to return the vehicle. Extra cost when you are paying .99 kms above the rental fee. The vehicle was unclean and had less than a 1/4 tank of gas. Had to put 40.00 worth of gas before we could even drive it off the rental parking lot. I will not be using U haul again and would not recommend it to friends or family.

Rachet mechanisms on trailer could have done with some lubrication, really quite stiff due to road spray and winter salt. They worked OK, just very hard work in these winter road conditions.

I rented a 6 x 12 cargo trailer. When I picked it up, the trailer was parked in mud and snow. I had a person who ran the place hook it up to my truck. He said it was all good. When I got about 10km down the highway the trailer disconnected from my truck and was all over the road. It was a miracle no one I injured but my truck hitch suffered some damage. Now I will see if they will do anything for me.

They had no clue what was happening and did not seem to be expecting us. Asked if we wanted furniture pads (which I paid for) and I said yes, and then they just said they didn’t have them and never took it off my bill.

The phone call was unnerving at best. We had to drive all the way out to black diamond to return it a few hours early cause the others would not take it. We threatened to leave the truck at the gates when we got to black diamond cause our delivery was a few hours earlier than expected. Finally they accepted the truck.

A disaster from the time we arrived. Teenager working gas station. Did not have any knowledge of U-Haul. Entire transaction was done by way of his cell phone on “speaker” with a lady. Did not ask for our reservation #, no contract was given, did not receive any correspondence by email, charged for two dolly that were not provided, did not supply us with our requested moving blankets, fuel amount was incorrect etc etc. Absolutely unacceptable!! I had to deal with the issues once I arrived at our destination. Just terrible. Also, no U-Haul POS. He ran my visa through their gas station interact.

I would rate it higher if there were more trailers available, or if it wasn't so expensive to rent in Calgary and return to Black Diamond. I am rating it "above average" because of the staff, and not because of the (lack of) selection.

Again the fuel policy needs to be updated. I have worked at a equipment rental company and our policy was full out full return. If not we filled up and charged the customer. Very simple.
