I originally booked the reservation for in-person pick-up at a specific location. However, U-Haul transferred my reservation to pick-up at a different location, self-service, which I was not aware of. When we were unable to find the location using the street address provided, I called the # on the reservation (J&H Designs). The man who answered did not identify he was with U-Haul, and when I inquired if it was, he responded "yea". He was extremely rude and not helpful in the least, yelling at me more than once. The pick-up location was in a back alley, with no identifying signage and the address was actually an empty shell space, making it even more sketchy and unsafe. We eventually called the 800 # and the agent there was very helpful and customer-friendly. I am a longtime customer of U-Haul, renting several vehicles multiple times each year, and have never been treated so disrespectfully. I highly recommend U-Haul cease operations with J&H Designs. I will be sure to share this experience with others in the Chicago area as well so they do not have a similar unsafe, unprofessional, negative experience.

The instructions for the location should let the consumer know that the location for the truck is located in the alleyway behind the business. We kept driving by the business location and couldn't locate the truck at first.
Shahzad NPérdida de tiempo,me hacen moverme de ubicación los candado no funcionan indicaciones muy malas la verdad
Martin AThe truck was clean, but it needs wheel balancing (heavy shake at 40-50 mph), and there was very loud wind noise coming from the driver door so you could barely hear the radio. Regarding location, you had to snake through a narrow alley to find the trucks, it was not obvious and it was not mentioned in the reservation or website.
Mark PBy far the worst Uhaul experience I’ve had
Althea AThe initial drop off was for a much more conveient location, and our contract had the Broadway address. The switch was emailed to us. When calling the phone number listed for this J&H location, the person answering stated they had nothing to do with Uhaul, but feel free to bring the truck and "drop it like its hot". This was a less than reassurring experience.
JOHN FVery hard to park in that alley at night -alley is narrow and wired way to enter
DACIAN GUser friendly return
STERLING BThe truck share pickup process took me over 30 minutes to complete, even though I had downloaded the app and had all the information that was needed. This is ridiculous and I will not be using U-Haul again.
Adrian HAddress was a little confusing
Daniel GTruck was filthy. Half tank of gas. Difficult to find. Difficult to access key. Truck did what it needed to do. The cab was so dirty and smelled so badly.
Hobie RDrop-off was so confusing. No real insight regarding what to do or where to specifically go. Parking was difficult and unclear.
Maria BThis "location" was a single parking spot in a cramped alley behind a tiny office building (one story, two offices). The office building is attached to an apartment building next door, where trucks cannot be parked, and there are no signs saying so. Two different residents came out and told me that I couldn't park there; one of them was kind enough to show me the ONE legal spot on the office building's property where the truck just barely fit. Residents of local homes shouldn't have to do this job. Key drop off box was hidden in a dark and cramped space behind a derelict vehicle and took a lot of time to find. No lights on the property, and no U-haul related signage at all except for the hidden key box. Returned vehicle on a Tuesday about 9:00pm, but did not get confirmation/receipt until Thursday.
