Ken was amazing.i called outside working hours and he came to help me unhook the trailer. It was 12x8 foot trailer, biggest u haul has, which is very heavy and very stable. But being an older female it would have been impossible to unhook by myself. So I am very grateful that Kan can to my rescue outside working hours. Thank you

Uppal SThe thing I don’t like is UHaul charges a lot to leave a trailer in the NWT. It is significantly less to drive 3 hours back to High Level Alberta and drop it off. This is not only unfair to the customer but also not fair to Ken ….. the UHaul representative in Hay River NWT
DALE FThis place went above and beyond to ensure it got a truck for my move. It is a 5 hour drive from my original move place to get to this place. The truck definitely needed to be swept out, the front tires needed to be changed out.
heather mI reserved this unit for Yellowknife and had to drive 10 hours to go pick this up. The agent was FANTASTIC but the organization and the chaos of UHaul is absolutely ridiculous. Yellowknife is a city of 20,000 and we all have to drive 5 hours one way to pick up a Uhaul... I will never rent a uhaul again -- I would rather purchase a trailer myself.

MICHAEL RKen is a nice enough guy, and helpful in making sure the car dolly we rented was set up correctly. However, we only noticed later that he added a $60.00 insurance charge, that I did not ask for, was not required, and that he did not review with me or mention. Has basically took advantage of the fact that we were in a hurry. I appreciate this is as much my fault for not closely reviewing the paperwork. Beware.. Ps, you should provide more options like yes, no, maybe?.

RANDAL WGiving credit where credit is due, Ken is a very helpful and very nice man. I don’t know where the breakdown lies, but he’s been the backup TWICE for the awful Yellowknife location which has let me down multiple times in a row. However, last time I had to fly to Hay River to pick up a truck, and the truck had a check engine light on and a flat tire. I was told the truck had been tested and that I could ignore the check engine light, but I was taking the truck about 2400km. I was delayed a day while they fixed the truck and filled the tire. The next day, after getting the truck to Yellowknife, the tire looked a little low again. I got roadside assistance to help, we got it to a tire shop, and it turned out the inside rim was dented and the tire wasn’t even attached. There wasn’t even a valve stem. The outside tire was just low with the added weight of the truck being loaded and no inside tire for support. This time, I called Yellowknife directly and they assured me they had the trailer in stock, would confirm, and would send the paperwork that afternoon. The paperwork arrived in my email, I filled it out, sent it back, and booked a last minute flight to Yellowknife. They did not have the trailer. Again, I was sent to Hay River. My dad picked it il this time. The trailer they initially had for us didn’t have working lights, but luckily they had a second one. It didn’t fit the tow ball or wiring harness on my dad’s truck, so Ken sent him to Aurora Ford. They didn’t have it either. He went to 3-4 other businesses before finding one that did have it. In the meantime, Ken was calling me asking what was taking him so long because they had to close shop and go home. This was at 2:11pm on a Tuesday. Why would a trailer rental shop not have these parts that they know people will need? Halfway into our trip, we got a flat tire on our trailer. While inspecting it, I noticed the rim was bent on this one too. However, the repair man said the wheel had locked in place and wore straight through the rubber and shredded it. I find this hard to believe because we would have undoubtedly noticed that. However, it IS possible the tire was flat spotted previously and finally wore through. I like the staff at KP Woodright, but I don’t think the equipment is being properly checked while receiving or renting. I also feel they are poorly equipped to handle their customer’s needs. That said, I am thankful they exist because the Yellowknife location is utterly useless.

Randy LThe rep in Hay River needs to be more familiar with your system and general use of computers. It took over a hour for me to pick up my trailer because he kept entering the information and then clicking outside the screen or back, not saving the info he entered. After 45 minutes of him entering and re-entering my information i finally got so frustrated that I had to tell him each and every where to click and not to click and what info to type to get my rental completed. This was very frustrating as my family and I were in a middle of a move which was time sensitive, taking over a hour of my day to pick up. I then had to bring the trailer to a heated shop to melt all the snow and ice off as it was all covered and I could not get the ramps out or load my vehicle. Once all the snow and ice melted the trailer was covered in dirt and silt. All together this added unneeded hours to my move. There was no attempt to clean the trailer from the previous use, there was hardly any attempt to remove the snow and ice, and there was no attempt to get the transaction completed in a timely manner, although I booked online and did the pre-check on you rep insisted on doing it all again on paper.
Joshua HDrop off was AMAZING! The staff were so inviting and helpful! We were towing a low-riding sedan that was tricky to get onto the auto transport given the minimal clearance.. the store owner was so knowledgeable and prepared with blocks of wood! He guided us off the auto transport with lots of clearance and ease! He even allowed us to drop the auto transport and park our car in the lot over night (given that he was out nearest uhaul and our location was 3 hours beyond them). 12/10 would recommend.

He made sure he safely and timely set us up with the right equipment despite the last minute request, our lack of knowledge of the equipment, and other issues he manged to iron out gracefully. If ever in Hay River, give these guys a call, ask for Sandy. He uses his cabinetry making margin if error (1mm!!!) to get things done very, very well.

Richard MThe oil in the Uhaul I rented was several thousand miles overdue to be changed. The way I understand it, your practice is to just let the vehicle be rented and rented and rented until it breaks down. Not acceptable. I had to put 2 litres of oil in it myself as the check engine light came on just an hour and a half into my 1700km move... Shame

I had to travel 950km to pick it up and was happy to receive the extra days to help compensate. Vendor was very friendly and accommodating. Rating would be excellent if moving blankets I ordered would have been available.

K.P. WI had booked a month in advance to pick up in Yellowknife but when I called to confirm that a unit would be there for me I was told that there would not be anything in Yellowknife. I had to spend nearly $500.00 to fly to Hay river in order to pick up my truck. This was a very stressful time and I am not happy with uhaul and will use other ways of moving in the future. The Hay River outlet were friendly and did all that they could for me so this is no reflection on them.
