The vehicle I rented sounds like it needs a muffler repair especially whilst under load. Also, the lower driver's side mirror was missing and would have proved useful had it been there. Otherwise, It was clean inside and out. (Please note.) IMHO the gas tank should be at least 1/4 full before releasing it to any potential customer as one does not know the time constraints of the customer and a quick 1 hr rental could turn into a nightmare. I was very disappointed in my UHaul experience. This was not due to Life Storage of Piscataway. I was informed the day before picking up my rental that I would have to pick it up 45 minutes from my location. When I showed up to pick up my rental, I was informed that my reserved dollys and blankets were not available because this was not an official UHaul site, just an affiliate. I was not informed about this by UHaul during any part of my booking process or the day before when I was told where my rental was. I had to drive another 20 minutes out of my way to a different UHaul location to pick up blankets for my move. I would not recommend to a friend based on my experience and will rethink using UHaul for my moves in the future.MOLLY D.

24/7 feature didn't work due to location not having a box to pick up the keys. So this threw my move off by an hour as I surprisingly had to wait until they opened to get the truck. They wouldn't let me leave my car in their parking lot. So I had to park at a near by grocery store and walk back to the location to pick up my truck, despite already being behind from not being able to pick it up using my phone checkin. Not the best experience on an already stressful moving day.CARLA F.

the car gas gauge was working properly wasn't sure where the tank was i thought that the truck would cut off. i went to the gas station and all it took was $7 but the empty light was coming on. i request for 3pm but i didn't get it till 4pm rental was for 4 hour but my contract doesn't say that. quite confusing plus the truch feel it was going to shut off.Jennifer C.

I will not recommend the U-haul to any one. It is literally a rip off. No instructions on refuelling requirement. You are collecting 0.99 per mile and above all the surcharge for filling. This is really ridiculous. No instructions are provided while vehicle is given about all the charges.PEDDANNA G.
Every other time I've rented a U-haul it came with 30 miles for free before the 0.99/mile kicks in. I didn't get that this time and I don't know what I did differently to not qualify for the free 30 miles. Does the app just not have that deal? It was disappointing having to pay an extra $40 when the advertised price is $19.95. Other than that the experience was excellent! I've rented a unit at this location (Life Storage, Piscataway) for 2 years and I've had a wonderful experience with them.NICOLE C.

Alex Rodriguez, area manager, marked my truck as returned late by a full day. As a result, I was charged extra. 3 days ago I asked for a phone call from him to discuss my return. I spoke with the drop off location and they confirmed they marked the truck as returned on time. I even went as far as to ask them to review security camera footage confirming my drop off time as the same day as my rental. 14 hours later Alex finally marked my truck as returned and then proceeded to charge me. For a supposed general manager, the unprofessionalism and neglect on his end to rectify the situation is completely unacceptable. I have used U-Haul for personal use on three separate occasions, as well as for business on more than one occasion. After this latest experience, I cannot say I will be using them again.Cathryn A.

The service was still excellent despite the adjustments due to construction. The staff member, and I forgot his name was pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful with helping me find a place to safely park my car while I drove the truck to move. I had been a Life Storage tenant on New Brunswick Avenue, but this was my first time renting a U-Haul and the service was excellent. Thank you and much success to your company.Kamuela T.

Your customer service is horrendous! I go online I pick a time a truck size and a location based on what your website tells me is available. I get an email confirmation confirming all three of those details to then only find a day or two before that the location and pick up time were changed. I called your customer service number two separate times and both times every person who answered the phone in all honesty were jerks and not professional. The only people who conduct and themselves in an extremely professional manner where the people at the LifeLock pick up location. He gave me $.30 off a mile without me even asking for it because he knows what I had just learned that your people have no concept of how to provide superior customer service.Nicholas T.
First I reserved 2 weeks ahead then the day before I call to confirm and they said I didn't have one.. After arguing I was promised a truck for 8 am the filling day and when I arrived the showed up at 840. Additionally I was told I could have for 24 hours when arrive in the morning I was informed he reserved it for 3pm that day and I need it back and full by then.. unbelievable!! The personnel who works at this location are rude. I will never rent from U Haul as you charged me $8 because the gas was just under a full tank. Which was based on the truck not being leveled, not because I used a lot of gas. I went THREE MILES. I think this company is a rip off and will never use you again.Catherine C.

No parking. Two parking spaces. Customers parked along the curb. No room to back out with the Life Storage van. Rented van and paid for it had to rent appliance dolly paid for it and I rented a new unit. Nothing free! Owner of Life Storage is GREEDY!Alberta R.

The uhaul/life storage worker Raymond was TERRIBLE! He could not answer any questions. Allegedly changes were made with the uhaul company 2 months ago. I was not informed of changes prior to making reservation with their office. He was like a robot just telling me to go on uhaul website vs just him answering my questions now. He was very unprofessional and I would not rent here if you could help it.Chian W.
The online verification process is horrendous. The U-Haul site or app kept crashing giving error messages, and took forever to upload the pictures that were requested. Location was fine, it's the way U-Haul processes the return which would make it unlikely I would recommend U-Haul in general. My return was on a Sunday morning, and the location was closed. Had to return thru your online process. Had my location services on on my phone, but your website kept saying it could not recognize my location. I called the U-Haul customer service number, was on hold for 25 minutes, before I gave up. Entered than a chat site on U-Haul, and basically, when I described my issue, they just said â€œload the appâ€œ. After much messing around with getting the app loaded, was able to process my return, after taking all the photos you require, etc., this set me back about an hour. I was dropping off at 10:15, didn't get to leave until 1115. This was about 45 minutes before the location was actually going to open.Blaise M.
