This truck was in terrible condition. The worst problem was the windshield wipers didn't work. The arms moved but the wipers did not clear water. They should have been replaced a long time ago. Also, the transmission seemed bad bc the RPMs would go very high when my foot was not on the gas, and shifted down to a low gear after taking my foot off the gas several times. Not as bad, but also not great, was they gave me the truck with only 1/4 tank of gas, which made it very hard for me to return it with the same amount of gas. I turned it back in with a half of a tank and was not compensated for the approx $30 of gas i paid for but did not use. The pickup location also did not give me the dolly i reserved and had less than half of the blankets i reserved. It was by far my worst U-Haul experience. Driving in the rain with bad windshield wipers when all of your possessions are in the back of the truck is extremely stressful and scary. I will be contacting U-Haul customer service about this experience.Brian F.

There was no one who works for U-haul at this location. The staff there couldn't give me a key even though I had a reservation and checked in on my phone. I ended up waiting nearly an hour to get a key from the staff when they finally called someone from Uhaul for me.Carlos P.
Hi, On September 10th, I rented a U-haul cargo van and had issues locating and unlocking the vehicle, which caused me to miss my scheduled appointment for which why I was using the U-haul. The reservation said I could use the mobile website to unlock the van, but when I got to the location (on-time), the van was not at the location, as it said it would be. While looking for the vehicle, the reservation updated and switched to a new van. Once we found the vehicle, the mobile website wasn't able to unlock the van, like it said it would. We then had to go to the U-Haul office down the street to get the keys. A frustrating experience, which took way longer than we expected. Thanks,JOSHUA L.

We had to drive around the area several times in order to find the spot to drop off the truck. It could've been avoided if UHAUL allowed us to see information about the drop-off site before arriving.nalini S.
The person in charge of reservations never showed up for work. I talked to someone on a phone to confirm my reservation. Was handed a key for a truck â€œparked somewhereâ€ on a street. It was several blocks away and I couldn't find it. Had to go back and ask them to find it for me. Took one hour just to get out the door with my keys and I was only the second person in line. The person at the desk was very rude, she wouldn't even deign to turn and look in my direction. She mumbled the whole time. She would not speak in complete sentences of offer up any helpful information. I paid for 10 blankets, but she just told me "we don't have any". I saw that there were two on the desk so I asked if I could take those as I'd rather have 2 than none. On the drop-off, there was no where to park, so we double parked where the truck was when we picked up. We were told to drive around the block and park in a spot on a side road he pointed to. By the time we got through traffic the spot had been taken. We parked as close to that car as possible, which was adjacent to a hydrant. then we were shouted at that that wasn't legal, but we had not other option nor were given any other directions. When I returned to the office to complete drop off, the woman was folding blankets. I placed the blankets I had on the desk as which point she angrily muttered "I'll just fold blankets all day shall I?" - which quite frankly that's her job!! Then I asked her how to complete drop off and she told me to do "self checkout". Confused, I left the office and looked on my phone for an email or some other link to do that. Finding nothing, I asked another employee what to do, and he directed me back to the office. At that moment, the woman was exiting, so I again asked her what I'm supposed to do, and she just scowled at me and just stared at me for a few moments clearly totally unwilling to help. At this point I just handed her the keys and walked away in disgust. These people are some of the most unprofessional people I've had to deal with. I will never go here again, nor ever recommend this service to anybody else. It was disgusting and those people should be stripped of their franchise rights.BRIANCHRISTOPHER G.

Make sure you have the type of vehicles that were reserved in lot and also make sure your customer service reps do not lie to the customers and say no cars are available when i am staring at a stack of keys to other types of vehiclesâ€¦DEREK P.

Original vehicle was locked. When I came back and retrieved a new vehicle, there was a "Check Engine" light on. I was concerned to drive it in intense heat for fear it would overheat. When another vehicle was located, it had a padlock on the lift gate that took time to remove. Altogether, I spent close to an hour waiting to leave and ended up having to pay $100 out of pocket for the storage facility where I was due at 6pm to stay open for me. I was told I would receive some kind of credit adjustment.Ronen G.

She personally ensured that I was able to pick up my equipment in a timely manner. I had an issue with verifying my identification and she made sure it got taken care of. Please work on the rental process through the web app. This location doesn't really have a counter and the web app makes it look like you should be able to handle the rental without assistance but after several rentals that is simply not true, and the misleading DIY red herring costs time and causes frustration.RANDALLJAMES S.

This is an auto body shop in Brooklyn. NO PARKING. Was told to park the truck in a legal spot on the street. Had to drive around the block for 45 minutes to find a place to park.Nicholas P.
i've rented a lot of u hauls before but this experience has been absolutely awful. 1 the van had wet paint spilled in the cargo area that was not cleaned up or even dry by the time i picked up the van. it sprayed on my clothes and roommates clothes and splattered on my table 2 leslie was great but the employees at the center made me walk about .25miles to retrieve the car by myself and did not give me complete or safe instructions on how or where to park the van. i ended up parking it 4 blocks away and literally had to run back because my friends were waiting for me. this location gets an absolute zero.DERRICKGA MINK C.

The vehicle was not parked in the area I was told, but it was close enough that I eventually found it. The lock on the key compartment was rusted shut or something, so it took 15 minutes and the help of a very kind and patient auto shop employee to get it open. When I arrived at this location to check-in and get my UHaul, I was handed someone's cellphone and had to shout my personal information to someone on speakerphone (presumably whoever actually runs the uhaul services there). It was incredibly difficult to hear what the person on the phone was saying as we were standing outside on Atlantic Ave (and they were the one providing me with the important information regarding check-in, insurance, and return!). I was handed the key and wasn't given any information on where to find my truck (it's all street parking) and had to parallel park it myself on busy Atlantic Ave upon return, which was challenging to say the least. I spent ~15 minutes waiting on someone to come to the counter when I came to return the key at the end of my time. If you're in this neighborhood and need a uhaul, I would recommend a different location.Jessica G.

I was nervous renting from this location because I had tried before and they let go of my reservation minutes before I arrived (on time!) but I had very few options and very little time so I gave it a chance. This time was like night and day! N&B had wonderful and friendly service on site as well as timely, thoughtful and attentive communication from Leslie via text/email. They treated me well and even extended my drop off time (for free) to accommodate the processing time rolling over into the start of my reservation period. Leslie was absolutely fantastic. She notified me that the U-HAUL location wouldn't allow in person pickup and that I had to do it online a few days in advance so I wasn't caught off guard Monday morning. She also checked in a few more times up to and during the reservation. In my opinion she was the U-Haul representative I'd love to have every time; she really did her job well. Doing the online pickup was a bit of a change but Jalayah was also incredibly nice and helpful in answering last minute questions (regarding possibly getting a different car due to how tightly the cargo van was parked). I was a bit frustrated with the need to contact third party contacts of mine to verify identity , but I now understand that that was just part of the process. She was also an exception representative with her patience and assistance. All in all, it was a very good experience. I think maybe more indications/notifications/attention should be brought to the fact that it would have to be online check in would've been helpful. If it weren't for Leslie, the situation would've been much worse. I'll look out for this for now on, but something along the lines of â€œYou will need to download the app because no one will be at the location to give you the keysâ€ would've been nice. Also, having more than 1 foot of space in front of and behind the U-Haul parking space would've been nice so as to make it easier to pull out, especially on a very busy street such as Atlantic Avenue would've been nice, but hey, it's NYC.Matthew C.

DO NOT RENT FROM HERE!!! I had to wait 30 minutes to get the keys from the auto repair shop where 10 people were working yet no one could help me. When I finally checked in and got the keys, I had to walk 15 minutes to pick the truck up but they told me the wrong location where it was parked so I had to go back. I filled up the gas to the same place it was when I got it, and after sending pictures of the before and after amounts, they charged me for refilling which I am disputing. I was sent to walk 2 miles to find the u-haul because no employees knew where it was. The van was left with little to no gas and the cars computer system was all messed up. It kept beeping saying the cars door was ajar but it isn't. Then when brought back I was told to park the car and label the key with where I parked but I saw the office employees working when I arrived so I parked the car and handed them the keys and then was told that â€œI have to move the van cause it will get a ticket the next day where I parked itâ€. I said okay then where do you want me to park it the man then replied by saying â€œsomewhere where it won't get a ticketâ€ why is it my responsibility to move and park this rental truck when I am just a customer returning it? Fast forward to the next day I get a call from the shop telling me I drove 100 miles which is not true I drove 42 and that I left the gas tank below where it should be (I filled the tank up half way before returning, keep in mind the tank was below half when I was given the vehicle). I went to this location out of convenience to how close it is to my home but I could have never imagined it would have been as disastrous of an experience. This place should not be a U-Haul rental site what so ever and needs to be taken away. Complete waste of my money and time.ALIXJOSEPH ERIC F.
