Daniel VU-Haul Rental Return Complaint I returned my U-Haul rental on Monday and arrived at the drop-off location before 8:30 a.m. The gentlemen at the location were very nice when I initially went inside to return the keys. I was told that I would receive my receipt by email, so I left without thinking there would be any additional charges. As I was driving down the street, I received the email and noticed that my credit card was being charged an additional $76.04. I immediately turned around and went back to the drop-off location to dispute the charges. I was told that I was being charged approximately $33 for fuel and $40 for an additional day because the rental was supposedly returned late. This was not accurate. I returned the vehicle before 8:30 a.m., and I actually put more fuel into the vehicle than it had when I picked it up. I was also being told that the rental was returned after 9:00 a.m., even though it was not even 9:00 a.m. at the time this was being discussed. The issue appears to have been that it took the employees additional time to check the rental back in—not that I actually returned the vehicle late. I should not be responsible for additional charges caused by the time it took the location to process the return. After going back and disputing the charges, Ron, the store owner, told me he would take care of it, and he ultimately did. However, I did not leave the location until after 10:00 a.m., which resulted in an unnecessary additional trip and a significant amount of my time spent resolving a problem that should not have occurred. I have had issues almost every time I have needed to rent a U-Haul, and this experience was extremely frustrating. I am not someone who enjoys confrontation, but I felt that I had no choice but to return to the location when I saw the unexpected charges on my receipt. I hope U-Haul will look into situations like this and make sure customers are not charged additional fees because of delays in processing their returns. If I had simply accepted the emailed receipt without looking closely at the charges, I would have been charged an additional $76.04 for something that I believe was not my fault. I appreciate that the charges were ultimately corrected, but the situation could have been avoided entirely with accurate documentation of the actual return time and better communication at the time I returned the rental.

Robert KThe service people at this branch were very friendly and helpful. My only complaint is that the moving truck did not have a ramp which was a major surprise. I’ve rented multiple moving trucks in the past and all of them had a ramp. It would have been nice if it was disclosed at the time of reserving the truck that it didn’t have a built in ramp. No ramp is a major inconvenience when moving large furniture.

ron sI have made 2 reservations in the last 2 weeks. Both reservations have been moved to another location. At $1.09 a mile combined this will add about $40 to the rental cost. Not happy. If you don't have the vehicle available don't take the reservation and I will make other plans. Or is this on purpose? Also I was told a 2 5/16" hitch would be available. No hitch at all was available.

Rachel VOnline check in process was atrocious. Slow and not intuitive. Should be allowed to do the check in process before the truck rental time starts, so that you can pick up the keys and begin right away. The approval process was a joke. There was no reason for the approval to take 30+ min. And to wait for a representative to call to approve the check in? Yeah, no. Might as well just to go a UHaul location and have everything done in person. This system needs to be updated to 2026 standards, because right now, it seems like it’s stuck in 2006.

Demetria VInteractionInteractions were not as I would have liked. I should have been given options, like the price for the next size up. The salesperson could have made sure I had Cruise Control in my Truck, knowing I was driving over 4 days across country. The drop off location was extremely unprofessional. Just pointed where to back it up, and just left me to do it myself. Also they never gave me any paperwork showing I dropped it off. I put WAY more gas in, than when I received it, for some reason the truck takes a while to adjust the Gas Gauge as the gas is being pumped in. It keeps getting worse!!! I get a call a couple days afterwards, because the Uhaul drop off location did not check it in, "AT ALL!!!" I informed the uhaul customer service person where I dropped off the truck and trailer. The representative was extremely nice, and informed me there'd be no extra charges. Then 2 days later, I get another call, they again wanted to know what day, and where I dropped off the Truck and Transport. Again, this employee was very kind, and informed me there'd be "NO," Extra Charges to me. Now today, I get a text message saying that there's remaining charges related to my Uhaul rental. It's safe to say, I will never recommend Uhaul, or use Uhaul for any other moves or services that they could provide. Moving is extremely stressful, and Uhaul should be a professional, accurate, compassionate and perfect in their execution of renting Services.

Nichole MThe lot was small and very crowded. It was hard to get the trailer in because it was so small and there were a lot of cars and traffic in such a small lot. There was no personal since it was a drop-off location and it was after hours.
Melissa EU-haul was not filled up with gas, and they didn't make a note of the gas level when I picked up the truck. They ended up charging me almost double the quoted amount... only because I returned the truck 2 hours late.... double the price for 2 hours late. If you're going to charge an obscene amount of money for a late fee, you absolutely need to tell the customers. I'll never use this location again.

Douglas MI did not like the hidden cost! You advertise the use of the truck for $19 but then charge almost $1 a mile plus I had to fill with gas. I used the truck for four hours and drove around forty miles. At $19 I figured it would cost me around $50 but with the gas I actually paid double $108.
