The whole Uhaul experience was a nightmare. I reserved a 26' truck to drop it at my final destination The day before they told me they didn't have any. After a whole day trying to find one, I had to accept a 20' and bring it back to the pick up location. Regional service doesn't care about their customers. Lots of miscommunication. I was charged ridiculously. I tried calling to see if I could get the key back in the morning so I could put a quarter tank of gas in. Never got a response. I was charged 220.00 for a truck that was supposed to cost me 113.00. No one told me I had to check back in via phone as I had problems checking in so I went inside. I bought gas to be sure I had enough. I did not use very much, and found out that one could not be reimbursed. Improved UHAUL TO THE TUNE OF $ 50.00 WORTH OF GAS. If one cannot be reimbursed for gas, then estimates of usage should be available.Jonathan W.

I reserved a 17ft truck and was told the night before that I have to get a 15ft. I figured that was fine all things considered. Plus she said they would discount the miles. When I got the truck I found out that the miles weren't discounted. Again not a huge deal but a little annoyed at this point. It's late so there's no one to talk to. I get home to find out that the overpriced equipment wasn't even in the truck. So at this point everything that had to deal with the pick up was wrong. On top of the app that reset my pickup every few seconds. I end up on some chat with someone online who just said they'll refund it. That's great thank you. But I only have one hand and I'm moving my whole life into an apartment. I had to move the next morning at 8 and I couldn't call them until 7:30 so I had to load the truck without it. When I called the U-Haul at ace hardware the woman was unprofessional and flat out rude. I tried to be polite and say good morning. She basically brushed it off so I moved on to explain my problem. She gets an even more rude time to say â€œwell if you didn't get equipment then you didn't order equipmentâ€ to which I replied â€œexcuse me?â€ Or something along those lines and she just repeated it. And I had already given her my reservation number that clearly showed I did indeed order it. Everything worked in the end but it was a nightmare. I'm the first few of this building to be moving but I'm close with the leasing agent here and honestly will be asking her to tell her clients not to get U-Haul . Not to â€œhurt businessâ€ because I know it won't. I'm not trying to be petty but it's simply so no one else has to deal with thatRYAN M.

I forgot to mention when I turned in U Haul that the a/c unit only worked on full blast and the low and medium did not work. The defrost on windshield did not work either. It was a hot summer day and pouring down rain so it was frustrating turning a/c on and off because you would get too cold and then had to turn back on because it was so humid. Also, on occasion the temperature would go from cold to warm all on its own. The vehicle drove excellent and we were happy with the rest of the experience.Amy S.

It may sound silly, but there was nothing indicating what type of fuel to use when I refueled the truck prior to returning it... perhaps add a small sticker above the fuel filler door noting whether it's gas or diesel. Other than that, the transaction was great; the staff at the Monticello Ave location were very helpful and accommodating.Lynn R.

Unfortunately my complaint is something the location has no control over. Cell service in this locations immediate area is awful, the 24/7 pickup service is very hard to do due to this. While picking up this order, i was kick out of the app at the end and unable to certify the condition the van. It had damage the I was unable document and was dirty in the cabin and cargo area. The back roller door to the truck wouldn't open when I reached my destination. I called uhaul and was on hold for 2.5 hours. I put in a Service request but no one even responded for an hour. I finally figured out that the rubber seal on the bottom of the door had melted and the door was stuck. I was able to get it open after that but it delayed my move by 4 hours and forced me to move furniture in the boiling heat. Uhaul needs to warn renters about the possibility of these doors getting stuck and give instruction on how to manage the issue. This was a huge problem for me!!Holly P.

My overall experience with Uhaul on this move was pretty terrible - I had to pickup a truck 1 hour away from my location, though when I was notified of this, the person who helped me update my rese was great. But, on arrival to this location, staff had issues with their system, causing me to lose the mileage benefit provided at the initial contract change. Further more, I was given less time with the truck than on my original reservation. I'm glad I got to move, but damn, price gouging people in tough situations, geeze.Andrew J.

I have been a loyal customer of Ace Hardware for 35 years. And have used U-Haul from that location before satisfactorily. I had ordered an appliance handtruck and it was not available. That was upsetting because I had something heavy to move. What I don't understand was total lack of concern from the woman that served me that morning. No apology. No attempt to mitigate the loss. Her manager, Matt, was there during the conversation and offered no comment. I guess the question to U-Haul is whether U-Haul can guarantee items are going to be available at a particular location. If not, it should be clearly indicated. I would have checked first and made other arrangements.JOHN M.
The truck I used could use a good cleaning in the main cabin. The normal wear and tear is fine, nothing terrible, but it's just kind of â€œwell usedâ€. Smells kinda weird. Like everything just needs to be wiped down with a Lysol wipe or something.Alanna B.

I was very happy with Ace and the pickup service. The truck was well-maintained and clean and ready when I arrived. However, ALL the items I requested 2 weeks in advance were not available. Not a single one. No dollies, no blankets, nothing was available. No one in town had them either (Ace looked for me). I feel that an email notifying me of this would have been appropriate so I could make other arrangements instead of scrambling on moving day. And apparently this is a common problem. Uhaul, please stock more items and set your pickup locations up for success!Tonia H.

Online reservation and pick up were a nightmare- it said my truck was checked out by me and it wasn't. I went inside and someone else had â€˜my' truck. I was also charged for it! The people at ace were very confused but nice. They reversed the charges and got me a different truck, but only for 3 hours. Due to COVID, we opted for the mobile checkout and return. The checkout went smoothly, but the website kept getting stuck during the return.
