UHAUL rates of $1.09 a mile are outrageous. It was just .89 and that was much higher than Penske. I left the Penske dealer I was using because of poor customer service. Love Ace Peninsula and their service but getting hard to justify paying so much more than Penske rates.

Sohrab TThe U-Haul online experience is really bad. Your website requires the entry of far too much personally identifiable information. It is obvious that U-Haul is harvesting and selling the personally identifiable information for secondary gain. The process of renting in-person was even worse than on-line because the personnel at the rental site did not know how to use your website and they were inattentive to what I was saying to them - this caused them to rent the wrong trailer type to me -- which doubled the length of time needed for unproductive administrative activity. Next time, I'll rent from a different vendor (i.e. NOT UHaul).

CURTIS DEvery part of the process was easy from making the reservation online to picking up the truck and returning at the end of the day. I was met by Steve who is very knowledgeable of their rental process, explained everything in detail and got me on my way. Upon my return I was met in the parking lot by one of the employees who with a great big smile stated good afternoon sir I’ll take the keys you don’t have go inside. ADAM HAce hardware has wonderful staff that help with just about everything. The U-Haul desk is efficient, and the equipment was clean and ready when I reserved it. Will definitely use this store in the future.
GARRY RI think charging 20 dollars for local is great but the 80 cent per mile is extreme and is misleading...I went from williamsburg to hampton and back and the total trip cost me 98.00 plus 20.00 for fuel so I ended up paying over 118.00 for a local trip that advertised 19.00 local for a van rental..

SHERITA HDon’t let people smoke in the trucks. If they do, change the cabin air filter. Just the hint of pipe smoke made me nauseous for our entire trip.
JOSEPH AThe Ace Hardware location is terrific. The U-Haul online app experience is annoying. Too many incidences of pushing things that I might want to buy, and then there was very small print on how to skip that and get onto the next process. In addition, the encouragement to tell them I only needed it for a few hours is understandable but then I’m stuck for a few hours and the price is the same for 24 hours so in the future, I will always tell them 24 hours But that is on U-Haul not Ace Hardware where I picked up the equipment
RALPH RWould recommend the business but not the vehicle rental vehicle. Ride was bad, every irregularity in the road was felt. Wind noise on both sides of the cab was very loud. Per mile rate of .89 made the rental cost very expensive.
MELODY AThe lady who helped us was thoughtful, knowledgeable and efficient. Everyone at the store were very courteous. My only suggestion on the location is that it was hard to find on GPS for us out of towners. We used Waze and it just had a hard time finding the location.

nga pThe cargo van I received had trash and yard debris in the back which I had to clean out when I got to my destination - luckily they were able to lend me a broom so that the vintage furniture I was picking up didn't get damaged. I also didn't receive the kind of vehicle I requested and was not notified the day before like the UHaul website says I should have. When I asked about UHaul's $50 guarantee the rep I spoke to at the store just gave me a funny look and said nothing like that existed. I'll be going somewhere else next time I need to rent a moving vehicle.

JOSE LEverything went smoothly! I rented a 6x12 trailer, but had to exchange it for a Jumbo Hauler when I realized how much STUFF I needed to move! The transition was effortless.
JOSEPH JSpent too much time at checkout scanning drivers license..’ Active duty military and licensed in another state kept causing issues. Employees unfamiliar with computer system. I was told online pricing was the same as in person location when I called the store to verify. When I arrived it which was much higher and manager wouldn’t honor. This wasn’t a quick and easy process to rent a pickup truck and trailer at this location.
SILVIA ORental vehicle was filthy. Previous users had smoked in it, ashes everywhere.

NATHAN KYou guys double charged me, I check out at 5pm and was told I had 24hrs . You guys closed at 7 so we came back the next day when you opened and then you double charged me even though it was within 24hrs
