The truck had been returned from Burning Man in the desert. It had been cleaned but had damage to the body of the truck. The truck performed well over 2 long day drives from SF area to Whitefish MT.

This UHaul location is a poor excuse for a rental shop. App-based services are awful. Nobody wants to download your app. Even once I downloaded it, it didnt work. Apparently Im not the only one having trouble, but the attendant doesnt want to show up so he just blames the customer over the phone. Much better to have someone on-site, never using this place again.

Alvin TGave us a truck with the check engine light on so webhad to call for service to see if it was safe to drive delaying us by 2 hours. The drivers side door would not unlock with a key so you had to go to the passenger side to enter. Paying a premium for less than satisfactory equipment and service. Would not do again.

Rose PA $1500 cleaning fee is completely insane. Assuming $100/hr (which is an extreme overestimate) and 10 hours of labor, that's still $500 over budget. There was no breakdown of cost by component (cabin, engine, storage space, etc.) even when requested and the person in charge was rude and dismissive when asked about the cost. I will never rent from this company again without some kind of apology and refund. You'll be lucky if I don't initiate a credit card chargeback and trash uHaul on social media and review websites for this.

WILLIAM HI had an a reservation originally in Hayward, California where was 36 miles closer to my final destination and I made a reservation a week prior but when I arrive there, they said I was late and therefore they don’t have any trucks for me. They had never told me that I was supposed to be there on a specific time. They just told me after what time which I had told him I will be there after 12 noon and then they couldn’t help me with any other trucks I ended up driving 36 miles away to REDWOOD CITY to rent this unit and they told me I cannot have it for no more than one day where my original reservation was for two days basically U-Haul is a mess and nobody is gonna care when you get in trouble

john SEsmeralda was great yet again. Pickup was smooth, once I hit the front of the line, I was hooked up to the trailer so rented in maybe 5 minutes max (of course, I had previously checked in on the app first, uploading my drivers license, etc).

Jeremy GAppears that the rep is not onsite during posted normal business hours. They've had the equipment I needed, but I had to wait until someone showed up to get it. Same thing happened in the afternoon. Fortunately, he told me earlier that I could just leave the trailer in the parking lot outside the locked gate. I did, as did evidently three other people. I guess if this is not a full service U-Haul location the hours should be posted as such and a number given so we could call to see if we could actually get the item we reserved on their website.

He is condescending to customers and barks orders to them about where to park, where to stop their vehicles, etc. He is often not at the site during operating hours, resulting in a locked gate and inability to access service, causing delay and confusion for customers. By far the worst U-Haul experience I’ve ever had. Usually, U-Haul staff have always been so friendly and helpful. This operator is a blight on the brand.

And then provide zero compensation for ALL parties who are inconvenience or lose a job for it.

Mark OTo start with, when I went to return the trailer, the place was closed and it was 11:00 am. I called and they told me to leave it there and they didn't give me my delivery receipt until the delivery time passed and they are charging me for an extra day.
JUAN EThe starting location was not the one I had completed, it was on San Francisco Island, the day I had to check it came up in Redwood City, but its fine, The location is strange because it was open according to sources but the person was not there yet, with the very poor help service I give it 1.0 stars, super bad it was my first time I didn't know much but the person who helped me was super bossy and annoying, a strange guy, but hey, the trailer was super clean and in good condition!
Edvin RSeems like it’s a one person show. He does roadside service and this is his side gig. I had a 4:00pm pick up but nobody was there. I was able to get ahold of the guy by phone and he said he “tried” to get ahold of me but I didn’t get any missed calls. Anyhow, he showed up around 4:05 hooks the trailer up to my car but does it to subpar standards. I told him I’ll be back around 7 so he told me to leave the trailer outside the gate, which seems sketchy to me.

Andrew CCouldn’t fill gas tank. Used 2 different pumps and fill handle would click as soon as it was squeezed. Had to return to site with less gas than we received truck. We got charged extra for this.

Jonathan DI had a long wait at pick up, which seemed unnecessary. The person checking me in, had to use their own cell phone and equipment and was the only one working and definitely should’ve been at least several people working. The trailer I was rented was not level with the ground, so I had to go buy on my own a better tow hitch that was more level to the ground. The rented equipment itself was fine, but the experience of Turnitin also resulted in a long line and an unnecessary weight that was annoying.

jim fScammers. Gas tank when the truck was received was at 5/8 instead of full, I returned it 3/4. When I returned the person checking my out inspected the truck, said all looks good, charged me $140, then later in the day I was charged a $-40 cleaning fee. When I called to understand why, I was told there was grease all over the inside of the truck and the blankets that I used. Complete lies. I never transported anything that was omit any grease or was around anything that would either. Shady people. Not using this location again and reporting to BBB.
ZLATAN SAfter a 3 week prior reservation and under time constraints, we showed up at the Mountain View location at 7am to find out that our enclosed trailer was not on site. To remedy the situation the employee located a trailer of the same size in Redwood City. Told us to go pick it up there. We arrived at that location to find out that it does not open until 8am. Did it open at 8? No. Employee did not show up until 8:15. So, by the time we backtracked to Redwood City and picked up the trailer then returned all the way back to Sunnyvale we were 2 hours behind schedule.. Unacceptable! Too bad UHaul has no other competitors. I will buy a trailer before I rent from U-Haul again and so will all of my friends. I hope to hear from someone from UHaul for an apology any the minimum or some type of partial compensation for this lack of customer service. If not, I will enjoy writing my Yelp review. perry mI had a fantastic experience with both the quality of this trailer and the owner of this dealership location. I rented U-Haul's new Toy Hauler trailer and it was one of the most pleasant trailering experiences I have had. I own several trailers and tow regularly, but I was in need of a trailer that was low, easy to load, and heavy duty with a tandem axle to keep tongue weight down. I was very impressed with the new toy hauler, it had no bounce or drift even when empty and the integrated brakes were smoother than most onboard brake controllers. Rick, the uhaul dealer, was very knowledgable about everything related to this and his other trailers. He cautioned me about the width of the trailer and gave me some great advice on pulling it over the Golden Gate. His service was above and beyond. This trailer is fantastic for moving small equipment and I only hope they make it a permanent fixture for in town use. If I could reliably find this model I would definitely rent on a regular basis because personally owning a flat hauler like this to only use a few times a year makes no sense compared to renting for a very reasonable price. Please keep these trailers available!

Wast of time gas and money dealing with this in considerate person .Business Sign-age is not good at entrance ! Drove past the place and had to turn around.
James WThe man in charge was rude and gave me a hard time after I requested a utility trailer over the phone, and they thought I wanted a box trailer. The utility trailer was great, but the service was not as good as it has been in the past when I have rented from U-Haul. This was my first time renting from this location.

Brian MThis was, in a word, a "weird" truck rental experience. The proprietors were VERY nice, and that's always pleasant. But the actual experience had a few odd moments. I was met by one of the proprietors as I was driving around the lot, trying to determine where to park. I was told that there is no parking available on the premises, which means parking on the street. Not great. There are multiple signs along the entrance/driveway for after-hours rental returns, with arrows points toward the street. Which is wrong, and very confusing. When I returned to the property to return the truck, (at about 1:30 in the afternoon) the gate was closed and locked, and no one was at the property. I noticed a phone number on a sign on the gate, which was the U-Haul 24-hour customer service number. That agent put me in touch with the proprietors (via that phone call) who informed me that I should leave the truck in the after-hours return location. As I was in process of doing that, the proprietors returned, and took the vehicle. And again, there were VERY NICE, so this wasn't an unpleasant experience at all. It was just ... weird. But they were very nice, the truck was in excellent condition, and everything else was completely satisfactory.
