Given a truck with a hole in gas tank. Lost $25 dollar worth of gas , which put my life in danger had the leaking gas caught on fire, and 4 hours of my time waiting for a replacement . I had to pay a Lyft to take me to the rental location to get another truck.

There was an unhoused person in the UHaul when I opened the back, but he was incredibly kind and vacated the space quickly once I said I needed to drive it elsewhere.

My experience was horrible. I had a tight window to pick something up and was given a truck with a hole in the gas tank. I noticed the yellow fuel light on when I left the location and immediately added gas. I drove 8 miles to my pickup location and then saw gas streaming from under the truck. Roadside said they'd be there in 45 minutes and they didn't show up for 3 hours. I had to leave the truck to get to an important meeting and was told I had to return to the truck, with my own gas can, that I had to buy at a store, add more gas, and return the truck now that the hole had been patched. It was unbelievable that I was given a faulty vehicle and then it was my responsibility to get it back to the location. Someone should have picked it up for me and comped my payments. Roadside should have at least added gas for me. Instead, I had to make three trips out to the pickup location, two of them with my entire family, to take care of your faulty equipment. Not to mention the burden to the business I was picking up at and the business that I was dropping off at. Those two businesses, in addition to mine, will have to reschedule the entire event again as the move wasn't able to be completed. I spoke with multiple people at Uhaul on the phone and was told over and over that it was my responsibility. Unbelievable.

There was trash in the back of the truck and it hadn't been swept. It wasn't a huge deal, but those things are mentioned in the return paperwork so we figured it should be mentioned here.

I reserved an appliance dolly, and when I got there was told they didn’t have one. My reservation was from noon to 8pm. I arrived at 7pm to return the truck, and it was closed which no after hours drop off. I spent an hour there trying to figure out what to do. I had to call the emergency line and was told to take the truck home and return it the next day… which was a HUGE inconvenience for me. Why was my reservation accepted for something they could not do. Very poor experience all around. Will not be renting from UHaul ever again,

The gas tank was empty, apparently siphoned off overnight. The gas cap was off and a hose lay next to the truck. That meant I had to go out of my way to get gas before starting my move. The staff were unsurprised and unsympathetic, as if was a routine occurrence. There are duck things as a locking gas cap after all. I’m unlikely to use this location again.

vehicle was out of gas( gas cap was off and appeared that the gas had been siphoned earlier) The app that I was required to use and input various bits of information, mileage, gas gauge four sides of the vehicle failed halfway through the uploading, and only gave me an error signal I retain only one picture on my Cell Phone camera. I was told if it was empty, there would still be enough gas to get to the gas station a few blocks away. I was not comfortable finding that while running on an empty tank otherwise the staff was very helpful.

The Portland down town location (Rose City self storage and wine vault) shouldn't be a Uhaul location at all! That place is the most shadiest place in Portland. Gas from all trucks are siphoned out. My first truck didn't even start because it didn't have any gas in it. So I had to change the truck after all the check in process. i returned the truck at night with more gas than I took but Uhaul charged me more for gas because apparently the next day the truck had no gas because someone siphoned it out. You can't even park your car there because all the card there are smashed and broken into. Terrible place and terrible experience

Good staff, Truck was fine, the only negative which is almost minor is limited space to park car while renting van. Take truck out, hop to car, park in space that was occupied by truck. Reverse when return. Do-able but awkward.

The location was in a very unsafe spot. A lot of homeless camps. The uhaul had graffiti on it. The truck it’s self made loud screeching sounds when braking. The transmission made a horrid sound when shifting/accelerating. We tried telling the worker this when we dropped off the truck but he brushed it off by saying if it ain’t broke we can’t fix it. Overall this is the worst experience I’ve had with uhaul.

I was a little disappointed how far the location was when compared to the offer. In hindsight I would have just returned to the vehicle to the original drop off location. We ended up having to waste time correcting what was offered and were still charged more. I’ve paid less renting in Eugene and returning to Eugene after driving to Portland. A bit disappointing.

Not having a drop box for the key seems weird, why have us come back the next day when you could have a drop box? Also not this locations fault at all but having an after hours drop off fee but not mentioning that when you reserve your time slot online is obviously a means to scam an extra $20. There’s no reason to charge us more for using the truck past 6? It doesn’t make sense. The person working the desk here was incredibly friendly and efficient though, nothing on them just wish there was a drop box so I don’t have to come back after my work day.

Have clean trucks and trucks that have gas. I got a truck with no gas on E and was told if I bring it back with gas I would get a credit. This was not the case when I brought it back with gas. Also the truck was covered in graffiti.

Every time I rent a U-Haul I'm bothered by the suggested repair prices should the customer inflict damage and have no insurance. It's a fear tactic and if damage were to occur it appears they would take advantage of the situation and charge exorbitant repair prices even if it's entirely cosmetic.

Rose City Self Storage & Wine Vaults is an awesome location. It is under the Belmont bridge, which makes it feel a little bit unsafe. However, it is well maintained on the inside and has a ton of security systems in place. The issue I had was with the U Haul truck itself. I didn't realize that I was receiving a truck without a back up camera, so it felt a tad unsafe. I have rented a lot of U Haul's in the past and there has always been a camera, so this was something that I was not used to. There was also a lot of graffiti on the truck itself. Not really an issue, just an observation. It just didn't look great.

The customer service at this location was great, but the price per mile and rental tax were outrageous. My 24 hours rental and 55 miles cost $143.00 ($1.59/mile), which is an outrageous sum.

Good, helpful store personnel. Truck had electrical issues and a broken AC. U-Haul is a service of last resort. Previous competition offered vehicles better suited to our needs and a much more modern fleet, and a reservation flow that isn’t pure torture. The U-Haul app needs a complete re-write and it’s an insult to your customers to make them decline seven (7) upsells before completing a reservation. On the other hand, I had multiple opportunities to count the upsell attempts because I had to start from scratch several times over due to the app being utter garbage. Worse even than the fleet of vehicles offered! Anyway, Imma fork out the extra $300 next time and hire movers. This wasn’t worth the savings.

Trucks are nasty dirty outside and inside underneath the seats ! So please please hired the right people to work and cleaning the trucks inside and outside by either washing by hand or going to a car wash and washing the outside and insides .

I'm sorry I didn't get the name of the employee who was working the evening shift on Saturday, 12/10, but he was AMAZING! I was having a really awful stressful day with moving and all the things that went wrong and I ended up accidentally locking my keys in my car while trying to return the truck and your employee was so kind and generous and helped me find a mobile locksmith to come and rescue my keys while I was having an emotional meltdown. Thank you!
